  1. Simple start At least those handy circuit breaker switch handles can be used to simplify that process. I did not notice, but he did not power up any weapon pylons or the HUD right?
  2. I'm usually against pre-orders of any kind. But DCS is a special case exception. SIMMING is a hobby which I dabbled in, off and on, for many, many years and DCS World for all it's many faults is probably the premiere flight combat sim platform. Even here I would advise against pre-ordering something unless you are sure you will enjoy it, missing features and all. Pre-ordering the Hind was a no-brainer. It's my favorite gunship helicopter, it's made by the same people behind the Huey and the Mi-8, both modules which I enjoy, and last but not least the 30% discount is not to be scoffed at.
  3. I don't have the space to place base-stations. Or rather I don't have the time to set up the base stations, each time I want to use VR. It's a matter of convenience, and preference. If someone else is thinking about buying this headset, they might want to hear another perspective. I've never used WMR, and the headaches of WMR is another reason why I've avoided getting the Reverb G2.
  4. "All but fixed", is not "fixed", but it's better than nothing. Also we're not sure whether he is talking about the quality of the clouds, or the jitter effect, or both. Either way, it's good news but like with everything regarding DCS World, we all need to be patient. This is still an open beta, things are subject to change and things take time, sometimes a lot more time, and sometimes other things get broken in the process. Stay patient, and you won't be disappointed, in the end Eagle Dynamics usually delivers.
  5. Wow I missed that somehow. Thanks a lot TLTeo!
  6. I don't care how great the tracking is, I'm sure it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's just not for me. I'm reasonably sure that is true for a lot of people who do not have a dedicated gaming room, or limited space but still enjoy VR and sims, etc. That is the sole point of my post. I have had 0 issues with Rift S tracking since day one, and even though I probably won't be buying another Oculus device again (I don't care about big data, it's a matter of Oculus sticking with lower res\lower quality headsets) my next VR headset will be as simple as possible, with as few peripherals as possible, and with the highest resolution\image quality possible.
  7. I'd say that facing a choice of: A) Dying immediately if I don't try to ditch ASAP. and B) Maybe dying later, if I fall into the hands of the enemy I think I'd choose A. Like, pretty much 100% of the time You have to remember, a helicopter is not like a fixed wing aircraft. Unlike the airplane, it doesn't want to fly. It wants to fall out of the sky, and kill you. Always remember that.
  8. So an extremely expensive headset, still using the same old tracking stations? Yeah, that's a big N.O. from me. I have limited space available currently and these types of tracking solutions are extremely unpractical in my case. Yeah, the headset itself looks pretty great, but it looks like this is a hard pass for me. (As is any VR solution that includes base stations). Oculus (and others) have proven that it can be done without them, and done very well, at a fraction of the cost.
  9. With all of that said, as long as Ciribob's (I think that's the author's name, please correct me if Im wrong) excellent helicopter cargo mod works (and doesn't cause crashes or issues in 2.7) or will work with the Hind in some fashion, I will be happy. I don't expect to be hauling the same kind of cargo as I do in the HiP or the Huey, but getting some support troops in there (like a Manpad team) and dropping them close where I'm going to be engaging hostiles will do wonders for survivability in this chopper
  10. Sorry to be necroing this thread but is there any news on Noctrach's strange STT-PD disappearing (but not disappearing) track issue? Thanks in advance!
  11. 35 degrees C, at 25 thousand feet. Hmmm, Not sure that would even be possible on this planet
  12. That would depend on the ROF setting. At 300 rpm, I doubt you would even notice the depression. At the highest rate of fire, I would imagine it's like a small retrorocket is mounted in your nose.
  13. There is absolutely no reason to fire it at that high rate of fire, unless you wan't to impress girls or scare off insurgents. With only 250 rounds in the cannon, and the huge amount of recoil it produces at a high fire rate, it would be an absolute waste to use it in that way. Those are 30mm shells, probably HE shells at that, and from what I've seen from the interview with PilotMi8 it's very, very accurate at the low fire-rate setting.
  14. I'm gonna go with no new news, is good news
  15. At this point Eagle Dynamics implementing DLSS is probably very close to wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it implemented, but ED are very slow to implement even new graphical APIs let alone proprietary technology. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  16. Considering the omnipotence of AI ground units and their gunners, I don't think there is much left to the imagination there
  17. Nothing on the F14 in the latest patch notes from ED, does this mean that no fixes made it into the latest patch, or that they are just missing from the patch notes?
  18. That's not how this works. There is no performance loss if you use AMD, however there would also be no performance gains. If Eagle Dynamics have stated that they will not use proprietary technology (such as DLSS) then that is their prerogative, but this is decision has nothing to do with the technology itself, and more to do with costs\time\resources used as well as simply a company wide stance on these types of technologies. If this is indeed the case, then this thread should probably be closed.
  19. This pretty much. This game is hard enough without the AI resorting to cheating. And if we want to include "realism" in the discussion, then this type of behavior is even worse. With that said, if this is indeed the approach that Eagle Dynamics have taken then I guess I will have to forego single-player air-to-air combat entirely, and just stick to PvP servers. Bye, bye meticulously designed Heatblur campaigns. I feel bad for your mission & campaign designers.
  20. Well then it indeed would be a great addition to DCS World, if there is even a remote possibility of it being included in a major engine update the devs should really be looking at this tech. Possibly with Vulkan support?
  21. Isn't DLSS only related to Ray Tracing? At least that's my understanding of the technology, it's supposed to make ray tracing "palatable" by supersampling ray-tracing from a lower resolution. Please correct me if Im wrong about this.
  22. I'm sorry, and please don't take this personally but this is complete and utter hogwash.
  23. I would hang on to that CPU. 5.2 Ghz stable overclock is pretty high and it's not really that old. Get a graphics card first and see if you need to go for a full upgrade once you get your GPU sorted first.
  24. Was it a direct 2.7 to 2.7 comparison? What I'm asking is basically whether you already ran the 2.7 patch on your i5-9600k system? Because if it's not a direct comparison and you ran 2.5 on the i5, and are now running 2.7 on your new system then maybe this might be the reason for the discrepancy in performance?
  25. Because there is a chance we might see this mystery module before the A6? At least that's the rumor on the grapevine
