Haven't tried the L-39. F-5E is really joy to fly. But when it comes to combat, not my choice really. Bombing a known building/bridge or engaging a bomber is fine. But when it comes to small vehicles, VERY hard to spot espacially in tree populated places. This usually drives me crazy instead of having fun :) If you are diving for bombing or gun run, often its too late until you can figure out if its a tree, a bush or an enemy air defense :) You study and prepare for mission for ~1 hour, you ramp start, fly and go there, and can't find the enemy... Before you find, enemy air defenses hit you... Try again, and again and ragequit. Ragequit because the ONLY problem is, I can not spot them. Rockets are the best AG weapon from my experience. Just fire from distance and run away. Again you need to spot visually..

Dear ED, I wish that you update all your possible jet aircraft afterburner effects just like F-14 has it. It looks soo realistic. Currently all jets have low quality 2D graphics for afterburner effects inside the nozzle. One can easily notice that as you increase the throttle pictures change step by step and it is 2D... :(

Great afterburner effects. Please ED consider similar afterburner effects to all of your aircraft, currently all of the are just step-by-step changing low quality 2D pictures..

You're welcome Yes I've just noticed that there are similar videos in that channel explaining different Russian systems. Helicopters, armored vehicles etc.

I would suggest that there should be mission option: 1. Availability depends on real life 2. Everything available for all 3. (Maybe) Red countries own red assets, blue group owns blue. But 3rd option that raises the question for ex-ussr countries like Ukraine, Poland etc. They are default blue, but they own lots of red assets for historical reasons. Same problem goes for Finnish Mig-21 or German Mig-29. I think having only two options, 1st and 2nd options; is a good solution. Skins are different topic, they can be always country specific.

For example SU-33 is only available for Russia. Well I understand that only Russian navy owns it and that's why its only included for Russia. On the other hand, you can add Ka-50 for USA, even though they do not have it. There are lots of examples for that. What is the ED policy on that? What is the rule whether a country has a unit available in DCS or not?

Good comments here. But anyway, I was really surprised because I always thought that F-18 flies so well in low speeds and has a better thrust to weight ratio for high speeds to keep the energy. So I was guessing that Mig-15 is no match for Hornet. Having a thrust to weight ratio of 0.54 (Wikipedia) it performs so good that I can not turn better than him in planar dogfight. But I remember also that I was fighting with Mig-15 against AI F-5E and I could never kill him. At that time I thought Mig-15 is too bad against modern fighters. Maybe I am a bad dogfighter :)

Hello all, I tried instant action missions for F-18. I have found the most challenging was the Mig-15. Even Su-30 was easier than Mig-15. What do you think? I felt like I am dogfighting with an F-22 :D Well there is a workaround for beating the Mig-15. You can hit the airbreak at the right moment and let it pass you. But getting behind him without doing that was very very difficult for me.

I have also filled 2 bug reports about F-5E TACAN issues. No response from devs, no fix either...

Just to bring the topic back, nothing was commented by ED. Is it going to be fixed?

After every update, when I run DCS I get these activation dialogs for one or more modules. I asked my friends have same problem. Why is that happening? Any way to prevent this? I have spent many of my activation times, but now I just click close button. Otherwise I will run out of activation numbers...

Ok this is a huge thread with long history. I want to ask where can I find the manual for the types of missions. For example I do not know what Recon mission is for? Some guys in MP servers fly Recon and I have no idea why. Any guide that explains all of those? I checked GitHub and 1st post but didn't find what I'm looking for. -
[ALREADY REPORTED] Radar lock keeps/kept switching targets

I was flying in MP server and chasing 2 AI aircraft in close formation (most probably) Mig-23s. I locked to one of them with AIM-7 and then radar started alternating between 2 aircraft about 1 second intervals. The target heading symbology on the HUD was also faulty. I was chasing them from behind and arrows were pointing totally irrelevant directions. Unfortunately I could not get track file or video. But just to let you know I have experienced such problem. -

@Frederf: Good points here. Real pilots or the developers can now clarify whether it is time interval, release interval or impact spacing what we are entering there for the bomb release. This topic is not yet labeled as a bug or not so I am still waiting their response. I still don't think it could be time interval because they wouldn't pass on the impact spacing calculations to the pilot while it can be done easily by on-board computers.

Yes it moves but it does not change the fact that the distance between 1st bomb and the last one does not match the distance in the settings. And yes the bombs are dropped at 1G load with a dive angle less than 10 degrees. You can download and watch the track.

Hello, The length of the Stennis AC Carrier is about 1000 feet. I tried to bomb my own carrier with 5xMk84 bombs. I set the QTY to 5, MULT left as 1, INT set to 200. This would cover the whole deck with 5 bombs single drop at a time with an interval of 200ft. I dropped all the bombs and; Saw that the distance between the 1st bomb impact point and the last bomb impact point is even less than the half of the length of the carrier. Please check if the bomb intervals work correctly especially in short intervals.

In the controls -> axis commands section I tried to assign an axis for radar elevation control. It seems that assigning an axis for radar elevation controls how fast the indicator moves, not the actual location of the elevation.

Well the title explains. I had to assign buttons for TDC cursor movement. Axis commands mouse control assignment does not work.
