I tried Mk-20 in CCIP, yes they fell short. I was trying to bomb the top of a hill twice.

F/A-18C Carrier Landing/Recovery: Pro Tips wanted
Terzi replied to Growling Sidewinder's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Yes but correction with stick gives you a temporary solution. Still after a second or two, more power will be needed. Of course this was just my experience/feeling. Maybe I should study more before posting to "pro tips" topic. I just started this 2 days ago :) -
Minor issue about AI F-18C aircraft. They are able to open speedbrakes during carrier landing in case they are loaded heavily. I tried Instant Action->Carrier Takeoff and just took off with a lot of weight. I made a brief circle and landed back with same loadout and fuel. Then while I was watching the AI, I noticed that they are able to activate speedbrakes with gear and flaps down.

F/A-18C Carrier Landing/Recovery: Pro Tips wanted

I also had the same problem but now I can manage it quite nicely. One should practice keeping the E bracket and velocity vector together. Try ascending and descending while doing keeping them together, and practice that a lot. Also remember to use trim as necessary. When you can really grasp the idea behind the power setting and the AoA, the process becomes automatic. Once that happens you can focus on other things better. Do not adjust the power purely based on where the bracket is, but rather where it is moving to. In other words, "speed" of the bracket movement is the key to your power setting. Try to anticipate it. When you drop the flaps during downwind the aircraft tends to lose ~50 feet and descent amount of speed. This can be mitigated by applying a bit pull-up before dropping the flaps and a fair amount of thrust after a second. -
F-14 May Development Update -- Campaigns & Content!
Terzi replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I have briefly read through the campaign pdfs. It is so nice that you stick to historical events and its a joy to read before flight. Well done! -
Hello, I want to build some hardware and my own software for F-18 cockpit. How can I send command to DCS world that I pressed some specific button - let's say the bingo fuel increase button? I checked that in Export.lua there are limited list of commands which are common for all types of aircraft.
-
How to use/shoot the gun? I switched to gunner position only yellow + appeared nothing turns the gun or fires.
-
@Nineline, Viper or Falcon? :D

Hello, I checked the Export.lua and I see that you can get all "units" objects LoGetWorldObjects(), then you can get specific object with ID and access its data LoGetObjectById(). My question is how can you access to the data that only your coalition can obtain? Let's say that we are blue; and blue SAMs/blue aircrafts can detect RedAirplane-1 but can not see RedAirplane-2.

Hi, Is it possible to read data from DCS using C++? Or any other language? For example if you want to read speed, location, altitude etc. of some aircraft with a simple application.

Persian Gulf/Hornet Stream April 15th 9:00am PST (4:00pm GMT)

When sun is shining from behind the MFDs are becoming unreadable. Are you planning to add pilot shadow? I was flying the SU-33 in VR and same thing happened. Then I realized that I was unintentionally trying to move my body to prevent the shining :) I am not sure how it works in real life because the pilot will have harness. -
Hello, Please make the "Payload" screen so that it never makes you go to Google to search for any weapon/device. For example I see 2 types of "RBK-500......." bombs for SU-27. I don't know what they are, I don't see encyclopedia entry for those, I don't see any explanation on the payload screen either. What would be really nice: Make the encyclopedia so that every weapon/system that exists in DCS is there in a well-structured way. Don't write the great history of every development details; but brief info about what it is, how it differs from its predecessors/variants, what purpose it is used for. Then while using the payload screen, the user can access to the info written in that encyclopedia entry via tooltips or some other simple way. Idea is that you can learn/decide what weapon is best for you while you setup the mission.

As far as I know the Russian laws do not allow modeling of their jets. It might be so that the retired aircraft that belong to USSR era are not covered by those laws.

After the Hornet it would be good to focus on core improvements before doing new modules. I really appreciate that DCS did a great job with free Caucaus but there are lots of improvements, fixes and weapon issues on the list.

I have been using Oculus Rift with GTX1070 for 4 months and I am not happy with it because of resolution and screen door effect. I can't go back to TrackIR either because feeling of sitting in a cockpit is really so good. Its like a complicated relationship between your wife and another hot lady :) I am not buying any other VR device unless the resolution problem is totally gone, really crystal clear view just like a monitor. Having a huge resolution device will also bring FPS problems, so I will wait until the eye tracking comes to the market for focused computing and ignoring the non-focused areas to save computing power.

It was very exciting to watch this week's match. Variety of tactics and finally merge. Best moment imo was the R-73 missing and turning back again :) Congratulations to all fighters and organizers!

Please see 3:15 in the video below. The aircraft brakes and stops and then the fuel inside the aircraft shakes back and forth, making the aircraft shake for additional times. This could be modeled in DCS for adding even more realism in the future.

Please fix the coordinates for FARP Forest in the 1st post. -
This video belongs to a modernized Turkish F-5 (double seated): It was loaded with 4xMk-82 under the wings and single Mk-84 in the center. Firstly it drops the Mk-84 located in the center (see 0:12). The pilots's reaction translates: - "Wow the airplane got crazy!" - "It has already pitched up so hard by itself!" This proves that after the center Mk-84 is released, the new center of gravity is located far more behind. I tried the same setup in DCS F-5, and noticed that it doesn't really pitch up after the release. Well it does, but very little. This made me think: Is the current F-5 center of gravity too forward? Another reason why I think that; normally after the F-5 lands, the pilot should keep the nose up for a while for aero-brake. In DCS the nose goes down so fast that you can't really evaluate how much you should pull back before the nose gear touches. On the other hand, you can't really risk pulling up too much to avoid engine scratch. You need some evaluation time. I watched some real life landings and it does not seem like that. It lands and the nose stays up for a good time. Well, these thoughts makes me think that the current center of gravity is a bit forward then it is in real life. I do not certainly claim that it is wrong, but it needs some investigation.

TACAN is broken since I was started flying F-5 in NTTR, I told this couple of times on this forum. It randomly stops working and freezes. Then re-tune it and it starts working. In the past I reported this issue, they asked me to send .trk file and I did, they said they will track this issue. Yesterday I was flying F-5 in Caucaus following TACAN 67X, I saw that it froze at 75NM, I quickly reset it and suddenly saw that I was already 45NM. F-5 TACAN is currently broken and not reliable. Please solve this...

I was recently watching F-18 solo aerobatic show. Whistle sound was really the only thing you could hear while descending at idle power with gentle turns. The engines made so much noise while applying full power that it made some snow fall from roofs.

Going to Landing signal officer view in SU-33 gives very strange gray colored corrupt textures.
