  1. Lol these threads are good... and funny. The banter gets a little snippy, but I always learn a lot. (Teapot you changed your avatar, nice)
  2. No hard feelings ;) You guys have a lot of exciting aircraft in the works, and your so engaged with the community! Keep up the great work! :)
  3. Thanks hegykc, I've been watching this thread for a while and it's becoming very impressive! Keep up the hard work (I know you will).
  4. And there's still hope for the F-16 at least. Not by VEAO, but maybe by someone else. (If I'm not mistaken you guys said you didn't want to do the F-16)
  5. Thanks for the clarification Pman. Sorry guys, I know it's a really wanted module but if they can't make it, they can't make it. It's not worth it if they have to make lots of compromises to get around the rules anyways. Maybe sometime in the future....
  6. Thanks for the variety Maverick! I'll be there
  7. As the title says. Maverick and the 104th have a great idea with their Red Flag (now monthly) event. Another group should host a WWII and/or Korea version! :) The community could really benefit from more of these events, IMO. (Yes, I'm looking at you DoW, ACG, and 39th VFS! ;))
  8. It's hard to remember, but I think VEAO gave a vague statement saying the F4 was looked into but 'wasn't a viable project' or something like that. I got the impression they ran into the same problems as with the A-4 and it was nixed even quicker. I could be wrong about that though. I'd bet someone will make it eventually, but not for a long while. :(
  9. sniperwolfpk5 - I'm not sure that I want to try candle wax just yet as it sounds a little messy, but you did make the light bulb go off in my head. I had thought the friction was coming from the plate rubbing on the base. It's actually coming from the sides of the plate rubbing on the shaft. I think I'm going to try to get some grease like you said BTTW-DratsaB. That seems to be what the manufacturer originally used and it has since mostly rubbed off causing the increased friction. Thanks guys
  10. Ahh yes, that's right.
  11. Believe me the Phantom (alongside the F-16) is one of the most wanted planes for DCS, but I think VEAO looked into it and the company that owns the Phantom (I forget which company, is it still McDonnell Douglas?) wasn't offering a very good licensing deal, IIRC.
  12. My X52 joystick has too much friction where the spring tension plate, that keeps it centered, contacts the base. This leads to a sticky, jumpy feeling when trying to move the stick very slowly and smoothly. Is there a quick lubrication or other fix for this? I already tried silicone spray. It didn't seem to help much. Thanks, Ultra
  13. This is what I said in the Spring Sale thread. I don't think they are making it now, but one can hope :D. It would make a great counterpart to the coming Mirage, I think.
  14. Thanks, I think I did see this before and just forgot about it lol. I think an F-5 would be a cool addition, if they're even considering it.
  15. A big hint you think or just a tease? Oh I didn't see that interview. I'll look it up now!
  16. What's the plane in the Email picture? I know I recognize that rear end. :smilewink:
  17. That's pretty funny, I guess I'll have to keep it a secret, lol. Thanks NeilWillis!
  18. Thanks for the links Vampyre, I think I would be happy flying jets or helicopters, but combat platforms definitely interest me more. I'll have to research more to pick a #1 choice. I chose not to do ROTC as I am pursuing an Engineering degree and I didn't want to pile too much work on. I don't think I'll have a problem with service life, but I guess it's hard to know until you're in it. I'm not just in it for the potential flying, I've been interested in the military my whole life so I don't think the duties of being an officer would bother me. The thing I'm most worried about is the competition. I guess in the end somebody is going to get cut from what they most want to do, I just don't want it to be me! :joystick:
  19. Thanks Buzzles, I figured there were posts like this out there, but there's so many threads to look through and so little time. :D Very interesting stuff!
  20. This thread is mostly for fun ;), but I'm almost finished with my Junior year of college and I'm starting to seriously consider joining an Officer Training program for a branch of the US Military. My goal being to become a pilot. I've been thinking about which branch I would possibly join and what I would want to do (or fly) most if I succeeded. I haven't done much hardcore research yet, but I know there are a lot of smart people on this forum that could enlighten me more. Does anyone have advice or wisdom on the subject they would like to share with me? :pilotfly:
  21. Ok, fair enough. Thanks for the response. :)
  22. Everything said recently is all fine and good, but no one addressed my idea. ;) I think it would be a happy compromise between all parties. It wouldn't disturb the "quick fight" crowd at all. :dunno: :)
  23. I'm starting to feel this way too. I really like the available power. In both the engine and the cannons! Really nice to fly once you stop smashing into the ground on takeoff and landing. :D
  24. IMO, with the amount of people the 104th get regularly, it never seems uneven to that extent. I think a small balancing element would be all that's needed to smooth out any major discrepancies.
