That's a reason to simulate it, though. Right? Since most people aren't going to be able to fly it in real life. I think that's part of the reason LOMAC evolved into DCS, because that's what the Devs want to do. In the end they're going to make what they enjoy, as long as they think it will be profitable.

I think the C-101 is cool and not useless, but it does have less uses than more competitive aircraft. It is still relevant though.

People get mad about statements like this... but I have to agree. Only 172 were made, it flew in the 50's and 60's, and isn't a good substitute for any version of the Bf 109. So... I guess it's fun to fly for a while but doesn't have a competitive place in any of our future war scenarios. Unless someone does something with colonial Africa. :D

First off, I like threads like these. They're obviously thought provoking as shown by all the responses in a couple days. As for aircraft, it would make me mad if we received a prototype version of a cool plane instead of one of the production models. Here's an F-16!!!... just kidding its a YF-16 and it's missing a bunch of cool features! I would just think about what could have been every time I flew it. :D:D

Oh, well then more people should use this. I find that the periodic updates on-screen are too few and far between.

I'd like a way for mission editors to place a textbox or something that would display the currently active waypoint or target area. It could be accessed possibly through the briefing screen at any time, instead of periodic updates on screen. I remember in some games you could ask AWACS what the active waypoint was and the direction to it. I found it helpful. Of course a human AWACS would solve this too. ;)

Aimless Assumption: WWII Pacific from Leatherneck is Next

Definitely, this is a major part. :( Coming soon I hope... but I guess EDGE must come first.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
Ultra replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It's Beautiful!!! :thumbup::):thumbup::) -
Thanks for the response. We are getting the paddle propeller version right? So that should help somewhat with climbing. It will be really fun for ground attack. I guess it is a hardcore energy fighter.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but can we expect the p-47 we get to be more, less, or similarly competitive to the German planes compared to our current p-51? And yes I know pilot skill, more important blah blah blah... but I'm asking in a technical manner. I'm kinda lazy to look through all the posts. :D

I think that DCS 2.0 footage just destroyed my brain... :shocking: :D

Great to hear! I'm really excited for the Mirage, and I'm sure I'm not alone

"Why Nevada?" - Mission Potential for the Forthcoming Terrain
Ultra replied to Splat's topic in Mission Editor
This thread got a lot of attention for being dead and buried for 2 years  , but I think Nevada will work out very well. Also I bet it was a helpful stepping stone to creating future maps such as the future Red Sea one. -
Personally, I'd like to see them expand on the theaters of combat they have started before they begin new ones (i.e. Korea), but I would find WWI interesting if they eventually got around to it.

What does need DCS WWII to be the best simulator. [Exigent Wishlist]

Happy Birthday to one of the most helpful people on the forum!

True, I like to use points to grade the players' success in a mission.
-
There is a section for this. I think it might be called "Mission Goals" or something like that. You can set it to award points (or take away points) in multiple instances when your flags are equal to set values. Sorry, normally I would've answered sooner.
-
You can make any messages you want, so you could make "1st Objective Complete" (or 2nd, etc.) messages and award points. Then you could make a "Mission Complete" message at the end when all objectives are completed. Is that what you want?

Question: What time and day would you guys say you get the most players on the server?
-
The flight to AO time is good, and I enjoy cold starts and takeoffs as much as the next guy but after a few crashes cold starting begins to eat up a good chunk of time. I would just like the option for an air start sometimes, when I don't have as much time to play as I'd like. Anyways after a good run your going to have to land and cold start that aircraft anyways. It just makes the 'flying time to ground time' ratio better, in my eyes.
-
I like the idea of a more "instant action" oriented server. Or even just some options for air starts in the regular maps. It makes multiplayer more approachable when you don't feel you need 3+ hours to have a good MP session. You DoW guys are doing a great job. I've liked every map i've seen so far. Keep up the good work!

How important is video memory for DCS?
Ultra replied to Ultra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Once again thanks for all the info everybody. I hooked up Crossfire yesterday, and it all went smoothly. It was pretty much plug-and-play! I did a little performance benchmarking: --DX 11 FPS w/ one card: about 74 --DX 11 FPS w/ two cards: about 154 Of course those aren't game framerates, but it looks like now I'll be ready for EDGE! Fingers crossed for a December release! :D :D :D -
How important is video memory for DCS?
Ultra replied to Ultra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah I know it's a combo of things. I'm doing Crossfire for the first time, mainly cause EDGE is coming and will take advantage of it. I'm doing it with two different brands of cards so I wanted to know how the different specs interact. Everyone explained it very well.
