  1. Where should our cutoff be then? Early 90's?
  2. Right, I just try to keep myself from ever having to merge with a Flanker. :D BVR FTW lol.
  3. I liked your first response better: "run" So pretty much pray he messes up or you get lucky. At what altitude would you start to win a turn fight?
  4. How about this situation: merge, 1v1, no other battlefield constraints, no altitude advantage, both at 12k feet, your speed: M=1, SU's speed:M=.85, two-circle fight. Loadouts: You - no tanks, 2 aim-9's, 2 aim-120c's ..............Him - no tanks, 2 r-73's, 1 r27et, 1 r27er Similar fuel levels Not to put you on the spot :D, but what would you do in this situation?
  5. You should compile a list of all the ones considered 4th gen in your first post. Everyone knows the big US ones, but some (like me ;)) may not know what international planes are considered 4th gen.
  6. So would it just be better to try to duke it out?
  7. Yes, escape out of certain death missile range so you have a chance to keep running. A turn with 'W' would bleed a lot of speed though, would the missile be able to do all the work on its own without airspeed help?
  8. Interesting, I'll have to try it sometime. Would it be better to extend in a slight dive to gain more speed, a climb to use the F-15's better climbing ability and gain altitude, or straight and level?
  9. What about 4.5 gen fighters, can we discuss those :P
  10. Related Question here: If you enter merge at a nice, fast speed such as M>=.9, would it work to just blow through the merge and extend away forward? The Sukoi would make the turn and bleed energy while you zoom straight away. Would you be able to extend far enough away out of the SU's effective missile range before he can bring his nose around 180 degrees?
  11. Your welcome :) You may find the stock single player missions and campaign not as immersive as some of the older WWII games since DCS leans more towards a "sandbox" feel, but I think DCS more than makes up for that with the spot on physics, user created content, and especially the multi-player.
  12. Once you purchase a module, you can fly it all you want. You get 10 activations which are used when you need to re-download the software (such as if you get a new computer). I'm pretty sure your activations get replenished every so often so it is really never an issue. There is plenty of single player content included, such as single missions and a campaign. You do not need to be online to play single player. You can also play multi-player, where there are some really good WWII servers. Also, other people have made plenty of user created missions and other content for the P-51 that you can download for free.
  13. I'm sure, regardless of what some consumers think, the developers are reluctant to make the F-16 because of Falcon 4.0.
  14. Yeah, I don't know how those guys do it so perfectly. I still mess up my takeoffs and landings with the Dora sometimes. I find the Dora takes much more concentration for everything. My tip for landing: when your going slow in the Dora and gliding in for a landing, try to move the throttle as little as possible. The changing torque really throws the nose around and can leave you coming in crooked or missing the runway to the left or right.
  15. I just think they could use some more improvement, I'm hoping 2.0 helps.
  16. Your welcome! :) I remember when my takeoffs all looked like your track, and I was really happy when I discovered my own strategy for getting airborne. For the 190, it's all about controlling that massive engine torque. If you stay happy with that technique and practice it some more, I'm sure you'll get nice and consistent. :joystick:
  17. Will aircraft receive individualized smoke trails in DCS 2.0? Right now it seems all jets have the same black-ish smoke from their engines.
  18. Ok, I watched your track. The main problem is that you aren't keeping your takeoff run straight enough. When you start swerving too much, even if you get airborne you're going to stall immediately, as in the track, since you didn't gain enough airspeed. It looked liked you only used the brakes for directional control and no rudder. I would advise the exact opposite. I find using the brakes makes left or right corrections too sharply and leads to more swerving and over-correction. Try lining yourself up straight and in the middle of the runway. Once your ready, don't touch the brakes again. Input about half right rudder ( I use a curve of 30) and then throttle up to about 2600-2700 rpm, don't slam the throttle up too fast. You have to be really sharp on the rudder to keep the plane rolling as straight as possible. Remember that you will gain more rudder authority as your speed increases, adjust accordingly. If you over correct to the right, don't rudder left since you will most likely swerve too much, just let the engine torque pull you back to the left. Once you see the plane want to lift off, let the stick drop a little and make sure you don't start buffeting and stall as you lift off. Your stick position in the track looked fine, maybe keep it a little more to the right. Hope this helps. :)
  19. Where do your problems start? Do you have trouble keeping it rolling straight while gaining speed? Or do you stall when you start lifting off the ground?
  20. It took me about 5 tries, but I did it. ;)
  21. I'm totally down. I could do it almost whenever except Sunday night isn't great for me. Good idea!
  22. I've tried the X65f. It could maybe work if set to really low pressures for movement, but I would guess it would be worse for him.
  23. Great! Thanks for the consideration. :) Really cool you guys made T-shirts, I'm excited for it.
  24. For joysticks I've found the X-52 to be the most comfortable and ergonomic. My hand never got tired using it, since it has a very light centering spring. I wasn't a fan of the CH feel. Or you could get an X-55 and use the lightest spring it comes with.
  25. That's funny, they must have known people would be shocked. :D In the newsletter it says "No, no time acceleration is used." SNIPED
