  1. Yes, it's a fine line between trying for the most realistic scenarios and not infringing on people's overall fun. It just really annoys me when I often see servers where it is something like 12 vs. 5 in favor of the Axis side. When it's 12 vs. 5 favoring the Allies it doesn't bother me since that's what real Axis pilots had to face at that time in history. I like to fly on both sides, but I almost always try to be a good sport and play for the underdog side. Not everyone does the same.... :(
  2. That's fine and I prefer that way, but then Multiplayer servers and the game in general should be practically forced to represent the Allies' numerical superiority. That would make it appropriately realistic.
  3. I see. Interesting. I still think DCS WWII should become it's own game and not try to emulate others. It's always good if they draw upon the positive aspects of others though.
  4. I don't know about stopping them from joining, but you can definitely have a script that kicks them. The 104th guys use it and can tell you how to implement it.
  5. I didn't think he was a troll, I just thought the initial responses were funny and kind of turned it into a joke thread. I never played that game but I like DCS's uniqueness in that it gives more sandbox freedom for mission creation, as opposed to classic style games. The bombers are coming and will add a lot toward making the WWII aspect more legitimate.
  6. For modern aircraft, the most populated servers are usually the 104th, TAW, and sometimes the 51st and 159th servers. The WWII and Korean servers are populated much less frequently, but there are a few out there that get busy at certain times, such as JG 27, DoW, 39th VFS, or The Korean War!.
  7. Update: I tried a kind of White Synthetic Grease. It did not work very well :(. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm going to slowly work my way through them until I find one that works well. @Wrench - Indeed, that's what I figured out in post #4. Interesting suggestion.
  8. That's what I'm thinking too. Except the F-22 won't even be outnumbered once the F-35 is ready.
  9. Yes, it was quite annoying. I think a variation of it could be helpful in DCS if another solution isn't found first.
  10. I think a problem with that is that ED's damage models are already more complex than that (for player aircraft mostly). What if all the hits are in the tail section? It's hard for me to say though, since I don't know all the ways an aircraft would catch fire. It seems bullets would need to hit the fuel tanks, fuel lines, or the engine. And what would cause the difference between a hole in the fuel tank and just a leak vs. an all-out explosion. Seems fairly complicated.
  11. Really? To me, at 250 km/h in the Mustang, it feels like I'm turning a boat.
  12. I more agree with this. This is kind of a weird comparison, but I'll use it anyways: I've played a lot of Call of Duty in the past, and in every one of those games, no matter what the background scenery was like, you could always tell a player apart from the scenery. No matter if he was hiding in the deepest, darkest bush in the map you could still distinguish his body easily. It was annoying in that game since it made camouflaged hiding useless, but it would work very well in DCS for the planes. It's hard to describe. It's almost like a "shiny-ness". The textures used for players seemed very different from scenery textures. CoD players should know what I'm talking about.
  13. Off Topic, but what's the 'STORM server'?

  15. Looks great! It looks top tier, very professional!

    He is comming?

Must be. I hope it's as far along as we all think it is! :pilotfly:

    He is comming?

Oh ok. Then why were they always so mysterious about whether they were actually going to go through with it? lol

    He is comming?

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=138946 Sooo... did we just not notice until now? This threads first post is from February.
  19. I guess it's obvious it's more complicated than just a Yes or No you can make it. Seems like the short answer is: it probably won't be made anytime soon. :(
  20. Oh gahhdd! How did Falcon 4 do it?!
  21. I know, but they still have almost 190 of arguably the deadliest fighter in the world.
  22. The F-22 is the high performance superiority fighter, and the F-35 is the multirole that will provide the fighter mass. Both are extremely advanced. Also, the US has new advanced destroyers, and the M1A1 has never been destroyed in battle, IIRC. Not to mention there are probably some very classified technologies also available to the US military. Seems like they're pretty set to me.
  23. I know some servers have a script that will kick clients with a ping above a specified number. I think the 104th uses this script?
  24. These are some of the main problems.
