DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
The Meteor's had serious problem of cannons jamming and others engine and controls problems , when first 6 were released for service, it was main reason because Meteor were not operational for combat until end of the war in 1945. Would you like a Meteor modelled with these problems here? -
As far as I know, shelf sealing tanks were not capable to stop leak caused by 20 mm shells, even German mine shells could blow off a fuel tank with a single hit. by the way, remember that only 5 hits of German 30 mm mine shells (used by Bf-109K4 Mk-108 motor-cannon) were enough to down a B-17 or B-24, I.a.w. wartime German test reports, and guncams films. Radiator in a Polikarpov i-16 ?? … As far as I know i-16 had air cooling radial engine, it had not water or liquid radiators, … oil cooler perhaps?.

Realistic gunsight effect

i don't have VR headset yet, but according with 3 of my squad mates who are using VR headset from months ago. if you have the VR pov settings propertly centered in the cockpit, you must see the optical sight only centered with the right eye, as it was in the real Bf-109.and you must be able to aiming with the right eye in the lateral emergency iron sight too. -
I am here again to congratulate you on how your server has evolved in the last few days. the last tuesday i've gratifully amazed when i could enter in the 4YA-Overlord server with 100 virtual pilots on-line. I had not seen that large pilots meeting in a server from old times of iL2-46 or iL2-CloD.. i had never seen this in DCS WWII servers. unfortunately, i was forced to uninstalling SRS because is not comfortable to talk with SRS in server comms and Discord with my squad mates at same time even in different languages, but text chat worked propertly in the server when it was needed. By the way, i would suggest that the adding of the friendly units icons in F10 map, could be a good help for find and help teammates in the server, without sustancial lost of historical accuracy. this is a video of my sortie. i hope that you like it .

Your reclaim is nothing new in this forum. There are dozens of post referring to rare behavior of the FM of K4 in game such as; neutral trim broken (zero degrees position cause pitching up), lack of elevator autorithy for climb or dive (depending in joystick command curves settings), lateral instability in roll axis (even with throttel off or engine off, gliding), etc. all of these opinions were understimated or discredit. Some of us even have interviewed to a real Bf-109 pilot about the behavior of the real airplane trimmed for cruise flight, but it was not a valid evidence for E.D. developers team. The main problem is that there is none airworthy Bf-109K4, we need that Arsenal-45 company finnish his project to built new one. .. even in that case, i have not hope that E.D's team would take its flight characteristics as valid evidence to change the FM of the K4 in game.

I´m agree. But we need to scull in the same direction for move the ship forward. Nerfing enemy planes, or to add unnecessary difficulties, (such as; disabling friendly units icons in F10 map, causing unwanted team mates dispersion) don´t help to increase the population of WWII servers. ... Unless we have a proper radar vectoring system, by radio messages for fighters, as actually they had.
-
And yes!, all of us are agree in this. ..but as occurred before in here in DCS WWII, and IL2-GB servers, people finally could start asking why the server is empty of enemy pilots. As @Jafferson said "we can only use te stuff we got right now" Precisely ZERO P-51D´s flew over Normady the D-day, the totally of Mustangs in Overlord Operation were P-51B and C. correcting myself about i said before. First pair of P-51D´s were delivered in Europe in july 1944. They were two Ex-USAAF airframes, re-named MUSTANG IV operated by RAF A&AEE a Test unit. The two aircraft were given the RAF serial numbers TK586 and TK589, both serving only at Boscombe Dcwn until they were struck off charge in 1946 and early 1947 respectively. An order was eventually placed for 874 aircraft, the first of which were delivered in September 1944. I.A.W the book; Haynes, North American P-51 Mustang Owners' Workshop Manual First 75 Bf-109K4´s were delivered to JG77 fighter group for traning purposes in the second half of August 1944, at Neuruppin air base (north of Berlin) The first combat engagement of Bf 109K-4s with an enemy, took place on November 2, 1944, against a formation of 1174 bombers set out for the heart of Germany to raid petrol industry in Gelsenkirchen, Castrop-Rauxel and Leuna. I.A.W. the book MESSERSCHMITT BF-109K by Janda & Poruba - JAPO PUBLISHING - This mean there were not P-51D´s, and no were K4´s, in real "operation Overlord",.. so what kind of historic accuracy do we want?.
-
You are right,... and it was confirmed by Volker Bau a test pilot of Flugmuseum Messerschmitt.

need evidence strange flight model at low speed
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to bephanten's topic in Bugs and Problems
This evening, i´ve engaged in combat with a P-51, (4YA WWII server) over french coast at about 8.000 metres. I start doing a spiral dive at 300 to 350 km/h IAS pursuing the P-51. My k-4 opened the slats, and start to wobbling side to side with no sense. It seem a new absurd stall behavior, because it is very know that automatic slats, remain closed in dives and negative G's manoeuvres I've never feel wobling in spiral dive before, in this game or Il 2-GB flying a Bf-109, soo i supose that the K4 flight model was "re-twiked" again. -
ww2 plane takeoff behaviour
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to gordonvembu's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
By the way, after last month patch, i have noticed that Bf-109K4 only have enough controls authority over 250 kph, and it is easy to land without flaps at 300 kph than with full flaps at 180kph as actually must be done. Due to the K4 take off like a kite, if you set NEUTRAL trim (zero position), and the reason is tabu in this forum. It is more easy to take off the K4 in this game, without flaps and with FULL nose-down trim. (Any resemblance with the behavior a real Bf-109 is pure coincidence). For making the things worse, the tail-wheel have not enought grip, (even with tailwheel locked) and it have the same behavior in game, than a wood block dragging in the runway. I think that we have same problem with tailwheel grip in all DCS tail dagger warbirds, even the Mosquito. ..and please, correct me if I'm wrong. -
Seeking clarification about end of Windows 7 support.
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to Knock-Knock's topic in Chit-Chat
I ´ve Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1, in Spanish, in my computer from 2011 with a about 1Tb of software CAD-CAM, Graphic edition, etc. I usually run DCS on STEAM with "BETA versions" option activated. After two weeks without using it, two days ago i start DCSW on steam and it updated automatically, but game don´t started, it show a error window, with a messge about "missing file api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0.dll" I went to this forum for search info, a them i read about end of Windows 7 support in DCSW after versión 2.7 released. ..But STEAM said nothing about this issue. I've tried to download and paste the missing DLL in game folder, but game shown other different error message, and i reverted the BETA option in STEAM, to game normal 2.5 version. -
DCSW crash in windows 7 after activated BETA versions in STEAM
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to IIIJG52_Otto_'s topic in Game Crash
the installation of win 10 losing my today software configurations and keys would be my ultimate option, ... next year in a new machine perhaps. -
Open Beta version was running perfectly in steam last week, but after last updated (ver 2.7 supposed) the game show a error about missing DLL library "api-ms-downlevel-kernel32-l2-0.dll" DLL library was found and installed from a internet repository and now game show the error "0xc000007b" . After googling a bit i found that this error is usually caused by discrepancies in MS Visual C++ version installed. I have installed the proper VC++ versions for x86 and 64 bits from MS website without success. I´ve read in this forum that standalone version 2.7 is unsupported by Windows 7 but there is any notice in steam about it. Is there any solution without install a new win 10 and re-install one Terabyte of CAD-CAM, video editing, etc software that i've properly installed in win 7 from years ago??.

109 control limeter is too high on low speed
IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to greco.bernardi's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Aerodynamic calculation is a good approximation to real aircraft behaviour, ..and it would be always better than copy/paste data from other different aircraft, in a different flight attitude. -

E.D. team are applying the stick forces charts in full power climb attitude and gliding at idle, of other different airplane!! .. for modelling the stick forces at CRUISE speed and CRUISE power, in neutral trim (ZERO) position. I'm trying to explain that it is wrong. I don´t want explain the same again and again, only you need is to asking you why elevator trim tabs plates of the K4 are "blocked" by Yo-yo. This mean that they don't have "elevator is airload limited" as you stated for Bf-109?? ..are you kidding me? .....and Now surprisingly you have learned the difference between horn balance and mass balance ?? hahahaha -

I´m not here for teach you about aerodynamic balance and force compensation systems, and how the horn balance work. ..But try to apply same think way about "elevator is airload limited" to the Spitfire or P-51D ...and tell me why they have not controls stiffening problems in this game. -

IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to greco.bernardi's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
This is the basic idea, just in case that you missed any physic class in the school. The basic formula is, Force = Pressure x Surface As i said previously, K4 and Gustav had different elevator travel angles, and this mean they show different frontal areas against the ram air, when elevator is deflected, moreover if we take in account, that K4 had larger trim tab plates than Gustav series.. -

IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to greco.bernardi's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I think you forget that when flying the Bf-109 trimmed for specific CoG, due to weapons and fuel load. If you move the THS (Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer) it change the AoA of the whole Horizontal Stabilizer, and this fact change the elevator forces needed in the stick. As we can see in the E.D. manual of K4, If we have the Bf-109 Trimmed for FULL nose-heavy attitude, we have more elevator angle travel and authority for dive direction, ..and viceversa. Soo if the travel angles change, the gear ratio change too, and the aerodynamic pressure and the forces of the stick will be different. ..pure physics laws. By the way these angles in the GUSTAV, ARE DIFFERENT !! .. soo stick forces of russian captured G-2 model, are not applicable for the K4 -

IIIJG52_Otto_ replied to greco.bernardi's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
As far as we konw E.D. team is using data from a Bf-109 G2/R6 with gunpods cannons, nothing to do with a G6 or a K4 because G6/AM and K4 were equipped with a MW-50 tank behind the fuel tank instead of a radio. If they known as much about weight & balance as they show off, they would never have used that soviet G2 elevator force charts, as reference for a K4. Moreover gunpods are not modelled in DCS:Bf-109K4,.. what will they did if finally model the gunpods?
