  1. If you want someone to make a skin for the bird... Anyway, awesome work. really looking forward to it! Aero
  2. Less it interests you? Oh, I get it! I'm sorry, I forgot you speak for the whole community. Silly me  ;) Ok, fine late 80s to early 90s. Aero
  3. Sounds right, though I would prefer the 80s. Su-27 didn't come around until '81. Why? Why not a decade earlier for a more realistic simulation? Aero
  4. Oh boy, I'm going to take a lot of $hi7 for this! Ok, so as a frequent (often too frequent) viewer and participant of these forums, I've seen new missile and aircraft performance threads apearing every few days, usually trying to debate which is better, Russian or American missiles/aircraft. The information to support the opinions comes from a variety of sources and more importantly, from a variety of different time periods. So, which time period is Lock On trying to replicate? I mean, I believe this has been discussed before, but come on! You can't begin to discuss anything else until you decide on this. Personally I believe the uber-modern stuff is too unknown (and IMO, less interesting) to model. I believe Lockon should aim to replicate more mid 80s to early 90s era technology (you know, late/post cold war). More information would be known and could also add a potential historical aspect to the game. Anyway, I don't believe this was discussed recently, and I though it would be relevant to bring up. Ok, now feel free to fire away and make a fool of me as before. I'm just about used to it. I was just curious as to what time period people pictured Lock On modeling. Thanks Aero
  5. Roll is enabled. There are videos showing this. It's the side to side and up and down movements that have been changed (X and Y). These are the movements that will give the player some really bad parallax effects when viewing the not-so-3d cockpit. Thus I assume these will be limited. Otherwise, I imagine yaw, pitch and zoom will be unaffected, and if we're lucky, we'll even be able to control roll with TrackIR. Aero
  6. Pretty Much. The radar sees closing speed, and if the target's closing speed is the same as the ground clutter, you can't pick him up. On the flip side, he can't see you with his radar as he is turned around! I understand modern radar is less susceptible to notching, but I think a lot of arguments could be diffused if we understood what we're dealing with. The problem is, we (or atleast I) don't know what era lockon is really trying to model. I personally believe this is more 80s-90s technology rather than the really modern stuff. In that case, the doppler effect thing in lockon might be more realistic than you think. My 2 cents Aero
  7. Oh, you showed me getting smacked in the face by that ET! lol Awesome pics as always, Viper! I'm sure I'm not the only one who looks forward to these after LOCERF. Aero
  8. Ah ha! Proof! I knew that was floating around here somewhere! Still waiting patiently. Aero
  9. Unfortunately, that sounds about right. We rarely get straight answers when it comes to release dates. as stated, FC 2.0 will be like Blackshark in that nothing will be installed, though starforce software is still used. That said. I have had no issues with starforce and was not a deturrant when I bough the sim (though, at the time, I was a naive 14-year-old who had not previously heard of starforce until I popped in the FC disk). I have since run lockon with SF on several different computers and operating systems with no SF relates issues. Aero
  10. First, welcome to Lockon! Second. Get FC, and FC2.0 when it comes out. It's worth the money, not only for a better game, but also to support the company making the simulators. Third. There are several different types of Poles, as described here: By F-Poling, Ironhand and others merely mean using a F-Pole Technique in which you attempt to increase the F-Pole as much as you can without putting the target outside of the gimbal limits of your radar. This involves turning away as far as you can while still maintaining lock. This makes the missile have to fly farther than it would if you had continued flying straight ahead. Beaming is a little different. Beaming or notching involves diving so the missile must look down on you and turning 90 degrees to the missile, which puts it on your 3/9 line. By forcing the missile or enemy plane to look down on you, it could loose lock in all the ground clutter. the radar measures closure rates to separate targets from random noise. You eliminate any closure rate differential by turning 90 degrees. This also increases the F-pole as much as you can without turning completely away. However, you will not be able to lock the attacking aircraft as he will be out of your gimbal limits. I hope this helps. I'm sure you know of Ironhand's site. You could also check out my youtube page (see sig) where I have made a few tutorials of my own. While they're not anywhere close to the level of Ironhand's tutorials, I believe a few have found them useful. Aero
  11. It shouldn't. They are intentionally vague about it. I have a feeling we won't know until half a week before release. Aero
  12. I'm going to have to rey this out! it looks great! A truly wonderful idea! Aero
  13. Thanks guys! It really means a lot to me to hear about how my tutorial helped people. :) AS, that is some awesome advice! I love it! If I ever do a more advanced bullseye tutorial, I would like to include that information, with your permission of course. Aero
  14. Intro to Bullseye! You can find many other tutorials on my youtube page! Enjoy! Aero
  15. Ya, that's what I had in mind. Just something to replace the model currently in the MiG-23 slot. Again, great job! Aero
  16. Are you going to make both flyable and unflyable versions of the mod? I would love to have this simply replace the stock model. I don't really have to fly it. I hope someday all the aircraft will be improved, even if it's not too detailed, just something a bit better than what we have now. Maybe after FC 2.0 such a project might take off. Great job! Aero
  17. If you are working on this, you may wish to consider doing the F-15 too! The A-10 and F-15 share a bunch of the same cockpit textures, I think. I started working on some F-15 stuff a while back. I never really went very far with it, but I may continue in the future, if you're interested. Aero
  18. For the LockOn side of the squad, we request all pilots be proficient in the fighter aircraft. After graduation and receiving one's wings, the pilot can then go on to complete the optional training curriculum in the three ground attack aircraft. Because of the complexity of DCS BS, an entire side of the squad has been set aside with a very dedicated training program put together by 104th_Tyger, who has done an excellent job! An applicant can decide weather to become a cadet or kadet, which will determine the side of the squad he or she wishes to pursue. Pilots who graduate on one side of the squad can then decide to do the training program on the other side of the squad. This is an excellent addition to the 104th Phoenix VFBS, one I hope to take advantage of and hope many others do as well! Aero Again, an incredible amount of credit must go to Tyger for all of his enthusiasm and hard work to turn this into a reality!
  19. Ohh Funk! I'm taking this as a challenge! Expect a video response in a bit! EDIT! ! Seriously though Funk, I would probably dismissed this as impossible in the fast jets before I had seen it done. Aero
  20. I assume the LO aircraft will be able to be set for client and not for player in DCS and vice versa in FC2.0
  21. I have already created a reflection in the MFD, if anyone wants it, with Ric's permission of course! These cockpits are amazing! @ Rattler. While I understand where you're coming from, id just like to say I do truely appreciate the work Ricardo has put into this. However, We're merely suggesting things to make the mod the best that it can be! But I do agree there is some stuff people could do on their own. Again, great work Ricardo! Aero
