How does Phazotron N001 radar work in Lock On ?
Aeroscout replied to Majesco's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Here's a quick animation I put together to describe it. I know we've pretty much explained it already, but I thought this might help if someone still doesn't understand. Green = search radar. Red = STT lock Enjoy Aero -
How does Phazotron N001 radar work in Lock On ?

Because the radar is stabilized. The antenna moves in the nose cone to always align with it's set elevation. -
I found this at the following website. http://www.createblog.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t135507.html I was laughing for 5 minutes until it hurt! :D Here goes: Okay, these are analogies and metaphors found in ACTUAL high school essays, so these aren't made up. 1) Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master. 2) His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free. 3) He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now he goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it. 4) She grew on him like she was a colony of E. coli and he was room-temperature Canadian beef. 5) She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up. 6) Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever. 7) He was as tall as a six-foot-three-inch tree. 8)The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife's infidelitly came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM. 9) The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't. 10) McBride fell 12 stories, hitting the pavement like a Hefty bag filled with vegetable soup. 11) From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 instead of 7:30. 12) Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze. 13) The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry them in hot grease. 14) Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 PM traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 PM at a speed of 35 mph. 15) John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met. 16) He fell for her like he was a mob informant and she was the East River. 17) Even in his last years, Grandpappy had a mind like a steel trap, only one that had been left out so long, it had rusted shut. 18) The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work. 19) The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while. 20) He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck, either, but a real duck that was actually lame, maybe from stepping on a land mine or something. 21) The ballerina rose gracefully en pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant. 22) He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up. 23) Her eyes were like limpid pools, only they had forgotten to put in any pH cleanser. 24) She walked into my office like a centipede with 98 missing legs. 25) It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall. Enjoy! :D Aero :music_whistling:

Ok fair enough. However, the potential is currently there to make a working cockpit like . All the gauges work and everything, it only lacks the HUD and MFD. Now I'm not suggesting additional information to be presented in the cockpit that is not shown by default, I'm suggesting all the same information be used, just be shown on a new 3D cockpit model. All that needs to be figured out is how to get the HUD and MFD in a custom cockpit. Of course, this is just wishful thinking. Aero

Maybe a blue-ish hue as well? Especially for the shadows? This is something I tend to notice a lot when I look outside at the snow drifts. Aero
-
A reasonable explanation. I would have appreciated that over "You're not worth talking to, Aero, you dumbsh*t" Thanks Aero
-
Jeez, I'm sorry kuky. I assumed you were talking from a modders perspective, as in graphical glitches. So... I must apologize I couldn't read you mind across the internet. Next time I'll have to remember to do that... </sarcasm> Thanks for making a complete fool of me. I love it when people do that. Aero

?? Would you mind informing us of this? I'm curious.

Suggestion: Instead of haveing the "unplowed" sections of runways and taxiways (parts with the snow still on them), keep them nicely clean, except have the cracks in the cement and tarmac filled in with snow. ie, instead of dark lines in between the sections of cement, make them white. Suggestion 2: make the snow "fluffier" using a cloud texture or something in Photoshop or Gimp, especially near the airfields and in the fields. I'll whip up an example really quick. Aero

I would like this too. I wouldn't count on it being there but... I think the potential is there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but people have made custom cockpits with working guages (ADA Alpha jet) albeit without a HUD or MFD. So, the very fact that this either the "secret" has not yet been figured out, or can not be done in the current state of lockon is the reason no new cockpit have really been perused. So, I guess the answer to your wish would come in the form slightly more open code in 2.0 or documentation by ED showing how this can be done. In any case, I wouldn't count on this happening and I think we're going to have to be content with the current "half-3d" pits we have now. Hopefully all pits will get a significant makeover. Ricardo is nearing the completion of the Russian pits. Next would be the the F-15 pits, and I'm sure if FC 2.0 will breath new life into lockon, another modder will appear to take up the challenge. A long winded answer, but I hope it (kinda) answers your question... Aero

Use the combo Ctrl + * and Ctrl + / Aero

That is awesome! Do you have dimensions and plans which could be released to the community? and Do you know how to focus the HUD correctly and make it really work? I'd love to know how that's done. Really impressive. How's the pit as a whole coming along? Aero
-
Great to hear from you Ricardo! But by all means, enjoy your time away from home. Don't feel like you have to work on it. That said, we're eagerly awaiting the release! If there's any way I could be of assistance, let me know! Aero

A little help with joystick settings.
Aeroscout replied to xclusiv8's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I keep it pretty linear, but add a slight curve (the first notch or so) and a slight dead zone, but I really don't need it with the precision of the CH sticks. With an X52, you pretty much NEED a deadzone. Again, a slight curve on the rudder too, but I like to keep things pretty linear. Aero -
Loving the trees! And the snowy winter is awesome! Is there a way to release this as separate mods (Terrain and models)? This would allow for much more customization. Aero

It's a year old guys! But thanks for the nice comments! I'm really proud of how it came out. And of course a big thanks to all those who flew with me. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone in the DCS/lockon community! Aero

Got this in an e-mail today: http://home.comcast.net/~bzee1a/Edwards09/Edwards09.html Enjoy! Aero

1) Does the F-15 have a gun funnel? 2) Is this the "Launch Authorized" voice that used to be in Flanker 2.5? I wouldn't mind that... 3) Oh, god! The Voices! Too many! jk. Actually, this would be fine, I just think AWACS (And GAI) should speak less than it does. ATM, it says everything twice and the voice over is not very fast (It takes a long time).

I too find it a bit disappointing that the air to air refueling bug was not addressed. I don't know how hard it would be to fix, but i would gladly have traded it for the bird strikes or something. Either way though, this upgrade will still be worth it, Alper. I wouldn't base your judgment on one single negative aspect of it. I'm sure you'll still find it better than the old FC. All the best Aero

perhaps you could contact ED? idk if they're giving out any more info than they have, but maybe they will for you id you're doing this awesome mod though. Judging my that frogfoot cockpit pic they posted, however, I believe things are going to remain very similar. So I wouldn't get too worried. Aero

Some people in my squad had questions regarding the difference between the range scale displayed in the MFD and the HUD in the Russian aircraft. I put this PowerPoint together to explain how it works and how to better estimate ranges in the Red birds. PoleCat encouraged me to post it publicly, so here it is! Get it Here! I hope it helps some people! Aero

Wow, I really got attacked for that. I'm sorry, but I'm just curious! I got a little worried with that FAQ response, sooooo... forgive me? All I wanted to know was what would be required to put the models back in, not if they would be able to! Anyway, please stop asking for more, people. We've got what we need and they're improving an existing game, not making a new one. As far as I can tell, this is going to feel very clean and new as it stands right now, so I'd just watch what you say.
