Hi, my feedback: I experienced lags and desyncs since the end of october update in DCS MT multiplayer. After many evenings of checking and testing on my end i stumbled over a post of a reddit user who claimed his squadrons problems were gone after they disabled voice chat on their servers. So our server admin disabled voice on our servers on my request and my lag spikes are gone. (I had Voice disabled on my side all the time). Maybe voice contributes to the multiplayer problems with lags many have discribed in the mp bug section. In retrospect it all would make sense. End of Oktober ED introduced the updated voice chat and my problems began. Thanks.

Seems like I found the cause for my lag spikes / freezes. I get them when voice is enabled on our servers. As soon as we disabled voice, the stutters/lags/freezes were gone. And now in retrospect it would all make sense. Problems started when the voice chat update patch dropped end of october. Will verify tomorrow in our squadron mission. Edit: Verified. lags are gone.

Seeing this as well. First i thought it might be short lags when flying online, because it felt like these. Then i saw this post. It's worse on the Airfield with buddies surrounding you. And looking around. Get's better in the air and further away from other planes. Maybe there is some connection to this thread:

Loading Cockpit Textures and Liveries takes awfully long
Sile replied to Jel's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Observed this yesterday as well. First it takes much longer than before (last patch) to get the role selection loaded, then it took about 20s till the F-15E Cockpit was fully loaded. -
Hm. Since there were two patches ( one mentioning MP Netprotocol changes ) after closing the thread and it's status still beeing "reported", i wonder if this is supposed to be fixed now?

Hi, i'm posting here because i also think something is not working smooth in multiplayer. I'm seeing a lot of lagging in 2.9 MT Openbeta since the updates from the beginning of November (roughly). In singleplayer everything is fine. About 12 hours ago i found a thread that got closed by BN which discussed the problem I'm having. @HC_Official also mentiones such a thread. Problem is, i can't find it anymore. Can someone please help and point me to it? Thanks. Edit: Nevermind, found it in Core Features Multiplayer section:

Sehr schade. (Aber Schöpfer von OpenXR war er nicht.)

DLAA and DLSS introduce blurriness compared to MSAA that can be countered by Upscaling (PD up). And DLSS gives more performance headroom for upscaling than DLAA. With PD 1.5 DLSS looks much clearer than PD1.0 DLAA in my case with lower frametime. (plus sharpening) After lots of optimizing and then comparing to my 2.8 settings i admit MSAA still has the clearer picture. But i still prefer DLSS and PD 1.5 because of the shimmering of MSAA. Performance (frametime) is also 1ms better with DLSS and PD 1.5 compared to MSAA 4x in my case.
-
No. Only DLSS is running. Cannot run both. If you want only DLAA, you need to disable DLSS.
-
Hm not sure, but with DLSS or DLAA I don‘t see the effect (visual and performance) of Fixed Foveated Rendering in OXR Toolkit. With MSAA I do see it.
-
VR tab of the settings. „Pixel Density“ Oh and I learned its only DLSS then, since DLAA gets greyed out once DLSS get‘s selected.
-
Not 2D but VR here. Flickering for me are black flashes, like when blinking an eye and only occurs with some kind of FLIR or TGP enabled. For example FLIR or TGP in the Harrier where I have just tested this. Or Maverick stream. As soon as i switch the mfds to something different, the flickering is gone. On all the example pictures and videos above i always see some kind of Flir/tgp active.
-
Ok stupid me, thank you. Didn't notice the greyed out DLAA. So I use DLSS with 1.3x upscaling.
-
Interesting. I should have read more about DLSS and DLAA beforehand. But got carried away in the optimization game... I wonder why DCS let's me select both, DLSS and DLAA. Shouldn't one get greyed out if the other is enabled? Or does it get greyed out and I didn't notice? And I wonder what DCS uses. On the basis of the great performance boost I see with both enabled, i guess it's DLSS.

Yes, thanks i have already tried that and it looks even a bit better, but i would like to kepp some headroom to always stay above 72 fps (bad weather, many units, whatever). Maybe will try 1.4 ...

i am using DLSS with DLAA at PD 1.3. Oculus Res Slider full right at 72 Hz. Sharpening 0.3 plus 65% oxr toolkit CAS. Very happy. I think trading DLSS performance gain für more supersampling is the key here.

Just flew online with some friends. This really killed the immersion. Good luck finding the fix!

VR settings tab. Pixel Density. Or other tool, depending on headset and OpenXR runtime used. (oculus, steamvr, wmr)

Quest Pro here (OpenXR & Oculus Runtime). I'm only getting DCS freezes with crashes when taking the headset off and putting it back on while using turbo mode in OpenXR Toolkit. But this was also the case before 2.9 and is probably caused by a meta bug. For QVFR's turbo mode, this has been fixed by @mbucchia. I wish some kind of fix was possible for OXR Toolkit.

only DLAA + 0.25 sharpening + 60% OXR toolkit sharpening is my sweetspot. (Quest Pro @ 72Hz and 1.3x, 4090, 13900K) Wonderful shimmerless clouds, great detail and better performance than before with msaa 4x. On the downside i see some smearing of planes when they move fast relative to me before clouds. Looks like flames somehow. (Even worse plus ghosting with TAA.) But i like it more than the shimmering with msaa. Oh and the dots are too big on low res headsets.
-
My feedback. I don't need bigger dots in my Quest Pro or G2, but my squadron mate needs them in his aero with nearly double the PPD. So: 1. Please let the autoexec.cfg config entry work for VR Users. Or even better - add an ingame option somewhere. 2. Maybe rethink the dot scaling / resolution ratios. The dots seem to be just about right for 2D/monitor and for High Res Headset users (Crystal, Varjo). But they are WAY too big in (relatively) low res headset. (Quest 2, Pro, G2, ...)

Try with DLSS off and only DLAA instead of MSAA.
