  1. I have a Samsung 790C 34" curved ultrawide. I would highly recommend going curved but not with the 790C. It's ultra low latency (IMO not important for flight sims) but the factory color calibration is very hit or miss. Also it's only 60hz. I've never used a triple monitor setup though. I think running 3 screens requires alot more resources than a curved ultrawide.
  2. Unfortunately FFB sticks seem to be dead. As Sokol and others pointed out, it's too difficult and costly to implement.
  3. It's kind of a shame you can't practice against AI to learn the F-15's energy/maneuvering advantages against a specific jet. The best place to practice BFM is definitely online.
  4. Great to see some product validation testing. I've used a single post shaker similar to that one many times.
  5. Maybe we should start a new thread to discuss this. OTTO males great components as well but the smallest OD is 23.5mm. You could open the hole up a bit with a ream. There's also these adafruit mini sticks. Certainly not the same caliber as APEM or OTTO but it's dirt cheap and under https://www.adafruit.com/products/44420mm OD. https://www.adafruit.com/product/2765
  6. Getting a bit OT here but APEM makes thumb and finger sticks for joysticks that'd be perfect. They aren't cheap, ~$80 for a single unit of mouser. A bulk order would lower it a bit. Check them out: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/26/APEM-TS-ThumbControls-595214.pdf http://www.mouser.com/Search/m_ProductDetail.aspx?Apem%2FTS-6A1S02A%2F&qs=%2FyPOVIzmEE1HH3gCpxqOgg%3D%3D
  7. Post a picture of the damage. There should definitely be some way to salvage it.
  8. Did you check out the video? That's basically what flyinside has at the moment
  9. I believe the sensor is mounted on the front of the rift/vive for flyinside which uses the leap motion sensor and sdk: https://gallery.leapmotion.com/flyinside/
  10. Touché. Although aircraft manufacturers usually have an aversion to using blind rivets on structural components due to durability concerns but that's mostly irrelevant here.
  11. Wow! It's looks like the best erector set ever :D I'm not a fan of pop rivets but otherwise it's very impressive. I think I remember seeing that gimbal design on the simhq forums years ago.
  12. The BRD stick looks like an awesome product. Are there any photos of the BRD gimbal mechanism?
  13. +1 to all the advice here. This thread has first hand accounts of DACT missions with the F-104, F-5 and F-15: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/587067-Early-Eagle-days-F-104G-vs-F-15B-Forums The book Radar, Heat, Guns which is a Cold War fiction book written by former Eagle driver James Frederick. I'd highly recommend it. I posted an excerpt in the spoiler below. There is plenty more golden advice in the book.
  14. Have any images of the gimbal been released?
  15. Here is aero data for the F-15 & F-14 http://www.zaretto.com/sites/zaretto.com/files/F-15-data/rjh-zaretto-f-15-aerodynamic-data.pdf http://www.zaretto.com/content/f-14-aerodynamic-data-sources
  16. I agree. Using an switch from a different supplier is the only way to truly fix the cheap switches. I'd also go with Omron switches. They're basically the industry standard.
  17. I'm heavily considering selling my Black Mamba and replacing it with the Gunfighter...
  18. See this thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137291 It could be a pinched wire but failure of the micro switches is fairly common. Customers (including myself) have had buttons/switches fail within weeks of being brand new. The pinky switch on my stick failed on like yours.
  19. Interesting! That's a very clever solution I hadn't considered. Hats off to VKB, truly top notch engineering.
  20. That's definitely good news for those who'll purchase the gunfighter. Could you explain what you mean by brake damper?
  21. Thanks for the info. It's nice having a forum member that can communicate directly to VKB. I had mine double sprung for a time. I removed the second set recently due to the one case where it supposedly caused damage. I'm starting to doubt extra springs were actually the cause of that issue though. The space is a bit limited to fit double spring. Is there a chance VKB could let us know what the various spring constants are so I could source a slightly higher single spring?
  22. I'll keep my fingers crossed! I wonder if the design changes have increased the force vs displacement. The extremely heavy warthog grip + extension results in a fairly light feeling.
  23. You can get quite a bit higher  Here's a screenshot of one attempt ~113,000ft. I've actually been higher. I believer 124,000 ft is my absolute record. I've got a screenshot of it somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up.
  24. Wow! Impressive list of changes for the gunfighter. Wish I'd known this was in the pipeline before I sprung for the Fat Black Mamba!
