Welcome to the forum Danny. In order to be able to help you we need you to post a short track of a mission where you start up your jet. Also, a short vid would be quite helpful to see what you do in the cockpit. Thanks.

F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023

Wait what?!? Is this...dude, this is the legend himself! Robin Olds! Okay, if this is the actual level of attention to detail which we can expect, I think I should take a very long break from work once the F-4 goes public release. Damn HB, you blew me away. By the way, the gold/blue Pharewell F-4 really made me smile...! Have you actually been to Wittmund AB? ;-D -
True, that was how it initially looked in my settings. My performance sucked at first, though. Then, I set it to this new setting (sorry, it´s german language, but you will get it, anyway). This improved performance significantly on my end...so yeah, I don´t know why but it helped me. EDIT: Full Screen on does also yield some additional FPS for me. Bizarre, but true. Try it...

One more thing from me for those people experiencing problems with MT, currently. Most modern CPUs have HT enabled in BIOS but please make sure you also check some specific settings in msconfig. Go to msconfig, search for "start" and then go to "advanced options" and look for processor count. In this very menu please make sure you set ALL(!) of your available processor cores if you haven´t already done so. My processor count was initially set to 1 instead of 20 cores so you get what I am talking about here, probably. This made the difference for me and I hope it might also be helpful for some of you guys, too. If you do not konw how many processors (cores) you have, do not worry. The maximum number is shown in "advanced options" under processor counts. Just select the maximum number and you are good to go. I hope, this helps.

Aerges, I must say the current F1 patch is really outstanding. You guys did a very good job in my opinion. The BARAX Jammer was a nice suprise and is actually quite effective from what I experienced so far on a very popular Cold War server. Also, the ALR-300 is working just perfectly now. Personally, all I need now is the PHIMAT pod and a working APS mode to be even more happy. The F1 package finally pays off and is getting better and better with every new patch...

Good patch. Thx ED. On my end the increased performance is very very noticeable. For me it feels like a completely different (way better!) sim. So, the first iteration of MT looks very promising to me. Looking forward to an even brighter future...

After firing one wingtip IR missile, that wing drops
Tango3B replied to 609_Relentov's topic in Bugs and Problems
I just wanted to post about the same thing but you beat me to it. ;-D So, I just flew a mission with that said BARAX pod and I also think, roll in asymmetric loadouts still needs some tuning as it is just too harsh under certain condiotions. Especially with just one Magic or Sidewinder missile left on the wingtip pylons roll is a bit too exaggerated in my opinion. So yeah, I would also opt for some adjustment in this area. Overall though, this patch is quite a remarkable step forward for the F1 so here is a big thank you to the Aerges team. -
Actually, Notso has shown off the LANTIRN pod in operation in the video below. Interaction between APG-70 and the pod is clearly shown at around the 17:20 mark and already seemed to be working quite well in early December.

Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!
Tango3B replied to Mike_Romeo's topic in DCS: J-8II
Wow. This is the exact module we all waited for. Thx DEKA. It will be a winner... As an edit: DEKA, you never let us down and never gave us any bs. The JF-17 was always and still is on spot (!) and this is why I will insta-buy any module that comes from your store. You guys are simply awesome, you rock!!! -
improper report APG-68v5 plethora of bugs...still existing
Tango3B posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Tell me, how many bugs you are able to spot in this video. There is a lot going wrong so feel free to name it. Also, of course I included a track & a vid for the team to review this stuff. This is actually hilarious. Not even the target sorting in RWS SAM is working as intended. Guys, really!!! Please, play this to the team and then PM me to get this sorted... F-16CM APG-68v5 plethora of bugs.trk- 1 reply

This feature does not seem to be implemented, yet. I also tried various procedure combinations to get this mode to work but it simply does not do anything. Also, I made a direct request to the AERGES team to answer if this mode is currently working or not in this post: Sadly, the team did not bother to respond to that very thread nor did AERGES clarify the procedure in case we missed something in the manual. But yeah, I would also like to know what is currently going on with this "TWS" feature...
-
Yeah, maybe. And I would be totally fine with that, of course. These guys are surely working on tons of stuff behind the scenes and that takes a lot of human resources, I know that. A little heads up would be very much appreciated, though. But because several months have passed now and because we were actually told that ED was about to promptly publish the said white paper which would clarify most of these concerns and questions rightfully raised by part of the more active F-16 community you should not go radio silent on this matter but you should actually deliver or at least inform the said part of the community. Right? Right. Thanks.
-
This. I would also like to know if there is any ETA on this white paper...
-
Right. You know that it was Plastargol as the standard propellant so why even trying to discuss it. You were, unlike me, a real Mirage pilot so please stay away from "discussing" that stuff with these guys, please. We will always find some guys knowing "better" than us but there is absolutely no point in doing this. Especially weapon or radar realated stuff, so...

Ok, thank you. Anyway, nice to hear this item is still on the list.
-
Ok, so it didn´t take 15 minutes. Well, pushing in the AP disconnect trigger indeed lets you change flight attitude and letting go of it indeed activates basic AP basic functions (ATT hold), again. Hmm, that is interesting and i did not realise that, yet. Also, my document does not state that function and it lets me look like a moron here. I take it, though. But again, activating the AP by only pushing the ALT Hold button is not applicable for the CE and I should have been more clear on that. Also, Aerges is right in the overall implemantation of the AP and that is the whole point, I guess...but yeah, MAXsenna, my face is a bit red...
-
Uhm, yeah. I was not clear enough. He was also talking about only using the altitude hold button to activate the AP. But wait, let me do a test here real quick. I´ll be back in 15 minutes...
-
Exactly. I am looking at a certain document right now which I cannot share and it shows AERGES to be correct. The OP however, is referring to a method alike to what you would see in a MiG-29 because he says ( if I understood correctly) he wants push in the AP disconnect trigger while he intends to make a changes to the flight attitude. Then, when he lets go of the trigger, his assumpption is that the AP should accept the new flight attitude and hold/stabilize the aircraft there. This is definitely not what the AP in the CE version does. Maybe the OP is referring to some kind of Ex version? Maybe an EQ? I do not know which version was capable of doing that but the EQ 6 comes to my mind...! Anyone?!

@BIGNEWY Hey, BN. Since quite some time has passed since I first asked if NCTR will be implemented to the DCS APG-68v5 I just want to ask for a heads-up. Is there any timeline on this, actually? This is quite an important feature so it would be really nice to have as the F-16 is getting more and more mature, right? Thanks.

Dear AERGES team, can we please have an option to reduce the trim sensitivity in the form of a 0 - 100 slider from the special options menu? I think the default value is a bit too funky to fine trim the aircraft for some people, especially with the HOTAS Warthog stick trimmer. At least I would prefer a bit more fine control over the trim function. Also, it would be very nice if we could have a more distinct sound for the extension/retraction of the gear and the operation of the flaps. Can you please consider adding these items? Thanks.

Indeed, Joey45. And when you consider the age of the Cyrano IV radar and the fact that France was a little bit behind the US at that time when it comes to more sophisticated radar thechnology I think France actually fitted the F1 with quite a capable package. The Cyrano can do a lot of things surprisingly well. That said, the Cyrano IV is actually quite decent in DCS and I have absolutely zero problems finding targets with it. Why? Because I know exactly what it can do and what it cannot do. I think, people need to understand that the F1 is no F16. Also, people need to understand that radar technology from the 60s or 70s has very severe limitations concerning its overall capabilities but once you know how to handle this technology it can actually perform very well in the right hands. And it does in DCS, too. If you fly on a certain Cold War server where everyone and his mother is flying treetop level just do not expect this radar to perform well. It just will not do that for you and this is totally realistic. Sure, AERGES still has some work to do on the Cyrano but this radar is absolutely usable and far from being crappy. And there is an old saying. Practice makes perfect, right?

Exactly. You would make a call in relation to your bullseye so that there is absolute certainity which contact the AWACS should declare for you. No, there is absolute zero fanatsy involved in this. And yes, there is something similar to this in reality. Like I said above you would conatct AWACS/GCI and give target postion in relation to your bullseye to have absolute certainity which contact is actually interrogated (declared) by your AWACS. There is actually a very good example for this stuff. F-16 drivers had to do this in the 1991 Gulf War, for example because back then the F-16s did not have an onboard interrogator installed. Just like our F1, right? And forgive me for using the word "magically" in my above reply to you. I should not have...it was apparently misleading.
-
You don´t need to test it. It isn´t available in the F1 just yet, so...this is the whole point of this thread. Aerges still needs to implement it.
