  1. Also keep in mind that the 21 is a very small target with a rather small RCS. The detection range you described indeed sounds about right. But why don’t you use Boresight when you already have a „tally“ on the bandit? Much quicker and much more effective in this very situation. Also, you can still go STT from Boresight or even Cage if your radar grabs something ahead of you…
  2. So, the OP was talking about MiG-21 AI behavior and I agree. In my opinion, the DCS MiG-21 AI is probably the worst offender regarding a vastly overperforming AI flight model. Unless you restrict said AI flight model from jettisoning tanks and/or using AB it will even rate an F-16 at around 520 kts and a sustained 8.5 G. That´s basically borderline insane since the 21 irl is supposed to loose speed like a mofo after its first good turn. Not in DCS AI, though. So yeah...we have to talk about AI being a T-1000 in certain cirumstances...no way denying that...
  3. Regardless of what circumstances may have lead to these things happening, this is NOT a good look for DCS, ED and certainly not OnReTech. At this point, I really don't know how OnReTech plans to regain the trust of its customers. After all the disaster surrounding this map, I don't see anyone buying another product from this developer. If one were malicious, one could describe such actions as shady. There has not even been any form of communication on this topic. No words! @OnReTech I am not asking for clarification, I am demanding clarification. The cup is slowly overflowing when it comes to certain things in and around DCS. At this point it is simply damaging the brand as such. Thank you.
  4. Very cool newsletter. Especially the new Route Tool will be quite handy for certain FC4 modules on MP servers. This is quite an important addition to DCS, actually. Reflected´s F-4 campaign will also be glorious and you even convinced me to finally pre-order the CH-47F. Concerning the Sinai update...well, I believe it when I finally have it on my SSD. Anyway, great newsletter. Have a nice weekend, everyone.
  5. Yeah, we really need that. I think, at this point most people would not even care if it is a placeholder for some time...(yup, understanding your strive for perfection, though). ;-D At this point I just want to be able to counterbalance the BARAX without having to constantly trim for it. The BARAX is pure gold so you should always be going with it - unless your loadout restricts it, of course. I think we should finally start to put some "mild pressure" on ED rgarding this issue... Anyway, you guys at AERGES rock...
  6. These guys just do not care...at this point it cannot be more obvious. Just do not expect anything from these guys...
  7. Good point. Yup, we need that for modern scenarios...
  8. Hey. I recommend playing around with the curve settings for your stick. Personally, I had to slightly adjust my curves for the X/Y-axis (roll/pitch). But as fausete already pointed out, the overall performance is absolutely not affected by these changes. Yes, it might feel inconvenient to adjust the said curves since you were pretty much used to the "feeling" of the F1 you had before these recent changes. I get that, we had a couple of changes since release actually. But keep in mind that these changes basically made the aircraft more realistic every single time. You will find a new comfy setting, though. Just play around with the curve values - the required changes are actually not that drastic.
  9. Chef´s kiss! Dear AERGES team, you have once again delivered a really neat update. The F1 is by far THE BEST Cold War module next to the F-4. Flying the F1, just looking at the F1, especially after the new update, is just beautiful. Thank you for that! I have to ask about the status of the PHIMAT pod though. What's actually going on there? I mean, I know that ED is ultimately responsible for this, but now, especially since the 3D model has been available for some time, this pod should finally be available to us, right? What exactly is going on there? I mean, the PHIMAT ultimately only throws out countermeasures and has an extremely "minimalistic" user interface... so I don't understand the extremely long implementation phase. Anyway, dear AERGES team, I'm really looking forward to your F1M and all the quality of life updates that will be released for this fantastic module. Please keep up the good work, you're great! Big thumbs up...
  10. Well, when I look at all the negative comments on the patch, I actually feel compelled to say a few words about the whole thing. I think I'm pretty lucky, because I have absolutely no problems with the current patch. Everything is running great, but the new slot implementation in multiplayer still needs a bit of work. The same goes for the Afghanistan map. Yes, of course, the map was a bit rough when it went into EA. But first of all, it's Afghanistan and the map is anything but bad. I have really good performance on the map, even when I'm flying the F-4E in a pretty intense mission from Kandahar. The same goes for the Apache on the same map. The lighting effects are also great. What is quite negative, however, are the transitions. The transitions between urban areas and what follows are sometimes very borderline. They urgently need to be worked on. The sand dunes near Kandahar should also be looked at more closely. But overall I can't really say anything too negative. It certainly is a patch with great features. The launcher is great, I like it. The SA map has had a great update, Kola with the new winter textures is incredibly beautiful. The radar updates for the F-16 and the F/A-18 are pointing in the right direction. Sure, we still need the promised part 3 of the radar update...but I at least see the good will to move things forward. What can I say, sure, there are a few negative things we can talk about in this patch. Basically, though, I see the necessary step forward. And it's exactly this step that counts. Thanks to the ED team for that and above all, have a nice weekend everyone here...
  11. Nice. Enjoy your Vegas trip...been there, Vegas is a blast. Again, enjoy!!!
  12. All of this "yeah, it will soon be ready" means absolutely nothing without a timeline. I have no words for all of this...I am just dissapointed to the max. The DCS F-15E was refundable...I wish, this map was, too. ORT had an extremely good start but then???! ORT has been nothing but a massive dissapointment. Tell us something! Tell us a timeline when you (ORT) think, you will be able to present an update to DCS Sinai. Tell us, what will be in this update. At this point I have lost any trust in your ability to deliver anything but shiny pics. Tell us something we can rely on! No, at this point you guys at ORT owe us a concrete timeline. At this point, there is no room for any excuses, anymore. More than a year without anything, any update, is more than I am willing to take...this can´t go on for any longer!
  13. BN, please make sure you forward a big thank you to the ED support team dealing with all the refund issues. Having to manually process all these refunds is by no means a small feat. In my case all went well, so I want to say thank you for bending the rules and for handling all of this completely problem-free and professional. If this issue will ever be resolved in a good way I promise to buy the F-15E again. For now, you guys presented the best possible solution with an internal account refund. Thank you & have a nice weekend.
  14. Man, I am no engineer, I am just a guy who managed to become a pilot despite getting pretty bad grades. And I'm obviously a huge pessimist. But I was right. A lot of us really were. But how do you feel now? ;-D Nah, just kidding, the current situation is anything but fun, so let's hope for the best from now on, right?
  15. Polychop sure did. And they did a phenomenal job. I am really impressed. ORT did not, though. Aww man, I really do not want to do that on the 9th...I have no choice, though. Summer 2024 is otherwise really fantastic for DCS, but ORT still did not even provide a timeline...so there is no choice in this case, I guess. It is what it is, sadly.
  16. So I may be a little late, but I've had a hell of a lot of work this week. Okay, so I just bought the OH-58D and did a few laps with it. I can only say one thing, folks, in case you're wondering whether you should buy this heli, do it. Don't hesitate. Not only is the Kiowa incredibly fun, everything about this module is just great. So, a clear recommendation to buy for anyone who is still thinking about it. Do it, you definitely won't regret it. ED is currently churning out the modules like there's no tomorrow. Good. I wish it would continue like this forever. As much as I want the Razbam thing to be sorted out, we just can't forget that summer 2024 is absolutely glorious for DCS. Thanks ED and a big fat thank you to the 3rd party developers who are really delivering right now. Big thumbs up - I am happy!!!
  17. Got it. Let's see, then... ;-D
  18. Same for me. I have a different opinion on ED, though. And let me say something here. DCS is a wonderful sim. Personally, I feel very much at home here. I am around since the days of Flanker 2.0. I saw the bad, I saw the good. But the good outweighs the bad. That´s why I´m still around. And what's going on with ORT is something we've never seen before in DCS. I honestly think we absolutely cannot blame that on ED. But like I said in my above post, there comes a point where I'm done with a particular developer. And I mean really done. And this point will be the 9th June.
  19. Hehe...your glass is always half full, right? I wish I had your optimism, draconus. I mean, if ORT manages to provide an update tomorrow, I promise you to commend them here in this very post. Honestly, I think the Sinai map is a diamond in the rough, I really wish ORT would finally deliver. But okay, let's think positively for a moment. I'll take your optimism and hope for tomorrow...man, I really wish you are right.
  20. Exactly. 9th June marks the then infamous one year anniversary of the Sinai map. It also will, as far as I know, mark another historic achievement for a DCS developer. ORT will then be the first and only DCS dev ever who did not manage to add a single line of text to the DCS changelog within an entire year of their product being available on the market. Wow. The icing on the cake is we are still being told by BN to be patient. Honestly, I do not know if I should laugh or cry. Is this satire? I had a lot of patience, patience in abundance. It will run out exactly on 9th June. I will then actively be looking for a refund or a form of compensation. Enough is enough. Sorry for these harsh words but I am literally fuming right now. Thank you.
  21. @JNelson Shouldn’t there also be a circle around the threat emitter guiding a missile on you? Especially, a circle around threat emitters guiding a Fox1? Isn’t this mentioned somewhere in the corresponding description of the ALR-46? I’m pretty sure the description mentions this very circle. Your thoughts on that, JNelson?
  22. I think it's great that you've recently started publishing a white paper on certain crucial systems. Thank you so much for that. Since you're currently working on the GPS+INS thing, what's the situation with the last part of your radar rework? Will we see an update this summer? You did a pretty solid job with part 2 of your radar rework, so I'm really looking forward to your third and final part. Have a nice weekend to the ED team...
  23. So, I think we can say that it was apparently worth waiting a day for the patch. Today's patch went absolutely smoothly and what is most important in my opinion is that we have really good download rates today. Kudos to ED. And although today the focus is of course on the Phantom...also big praise for the small but important updates for the F-5E. What else can I say...happy Patch Day everyone and have fun with the F-4.
  24. Dear Heatblur team, hats off and let me say, you have my absolute respect. The F-4E sets a new benchmark for quality in DCS. Well done!
  25. DCS Kola is great. Performance is quite enjoyable so far (running a medium spec PC in 2024) and it has also been said that the visuals look stunning. I do agree and all of this is true. But again, the map is EA, so bear that in mind when purchasing it...there are certain downsides/limitations when purchasing it at this very early stage. Always bear this in mind that there are vast areas looking a bit rough, yet. If you´re okay with that and you want to support the dev, then go ahead, buy the map and you might be enjoying DCS Kola just like me...
