  1. Im very excited about the upcoming Mirage F1. This thread is meant to provide more knowledge on the F1 and what to expect when the Mirage F1-CE module (and other variants) arrive. I start with a couple of questions on the F1-CE: Does it have a HUD or is it just a gunsight? CCIP / CCRP capability for Air-Ground? Air-Air weaponry limited to AIM-9 or will we have access to R. 530?
  2. Try setting Terrain to LOW. With the Textures set to High you should have a big performance increase and it still looks good. I also started with a massive FPS loss. But I did a clean re-install. Selected the Medium preset and worked from there. Obviously you always want the MSAA 2X checked, DCS looks awful without it. That is a performance hit you need to take.
  3. It's great to have pedals, but not necessary. You can even fly a DCS helicopter with Xbox360 controller if you practice enough. The Hind seems like a stable helicopter. So normal flight should be fine. Might be a bit tricky hovering and landing in tight spots, but setting up proper curves on the twist action should help a little. You can always add a pair of rudders later if you feel the need for it. There are plenty of DIY guides if you don't want to spend a ton of money. Or get a pair of used CH, Saitek or TM.
  4. Nothing to do with Blue vs Red, but they need to prioritize from a buisiness standpoint. We already saw some R-27 improvements with 2.7 and there will be more when the full fidelity MiG-29 arrives. Just like the AIM-120 improvements for the full fidelity F/A-18C and F-16C. It's just a matter of time. However, don't expect miracles as far as performance update goes.
  5. I really don't understand how this is not fixed by now. This thread is from 2016... officially reported 2018... still present 2021.
  6. Need to test more, but I have much better results unchecking Full Screen in options.
  7. BIG FPS drop with 2.7. But I don't think it is the new clouds causing it... tried a couple of different settings and missions. *Running 3440x1440 with i7 4.4Ghz, GTX 1080, 32GB RAM, SSD
  8. Im sure ED will develop the appropriate weapons. They have really good insight and information on the Hind. My guess is that the 9M120M HEAT is too new.
  9. Here is from a Q & A about the Mi-24P / AI: : He’ll turn on everything needed for weapons without communicating this via audio, at most showing a checkmark to the pilot via an interface. The weapons need to be activated by the gunner, otherwise the pilot can’t fire them. [...] Q: How will gunner spotting and engagement work? A: Spotting is finding targets. The operator will say something like “commander, tally target 10 o’clock, range 3 to 3.5km”. Engagement is when the virtual operator looks through the periscope and sees a target in its field of vision, places a mark then says “commander, ready to employ weapons”. The commander sees this moving mark repeated on the gunsight, together with a fixed net. This symbolises launch authorisation – the missiles cannot be fired by the gunner until the pilot aligns the net boresighted with the helicopter with the moving one represented by the target designation. We’re trying to make it so the operator has the same difficulties a real person would have on manually holding the sight on target. [...] A: The Mi-24 AI will allow you to play as gunner or pilot, and you’ll be able to tell the pilot to make turns in certain directions, change altitude, speed, make attack runs and so on. [...] Q: If the player is on the gunner seat, will the AI fly with a simple flight model? A: Why do that? The AI is a great pilot, no need for simple flight models. The one difficulty we’re having is for the AI to make a perfect landing in certain exotic conditions, but we already have it flying well in all nominal flight regimes. [...] Q: Would it be possible for the co-pilot to automatically load waypoints and call them out based on the flight plan on the mission editor? A: Yes, a crew needs to help the commander. I’ll write this down. That’s also a task for the operator in the Mi-24, we’re doing that for him and want to do the same for the Mi-8. Q: Can the Mi-24 operator give range to target? A: Well, yes. We’re doing this realistically – there’s a certain error associated with visually guessing the range. An AI of higher skill will make better guesses than a lower one. There’s no way to gauge distance except for a rangefinder graphic on the periscope.
  10. Better AI, better simulated ground war, Dynamic Campaigns etc... ongoing discussions since I first joined the forums. The Mi-24P is just another highly detailed helicopter module. Nothing more, nothing less. Would it be more fun to use with improved DCS World? Yes, but that goes for just about every avalible module. One thing that can actually be a bit of a gamechanger for helicopter pilots is the Mi-24P "Petrovich" AI. Spotting of threats and ground targets might give the gameplay a bit of new dimension.
  11. The Viper is Early Access and not finished, with a lot of systems missing and ongoing FM tweaks. So I don't really get how that is more ok than MiG-29 for PVP training? Anyways, good luck on your (Elite PVP ) training and check out the full fidelity MiG-29 when it is avalible.
  12. I see the Mi-24P as a mixed bag of Mi-8 and Ka-50. You get a high speed helicopter, troop transport, rockets, cannon and ATGM's. The AI "Petrovic" and multicrew will hopefully offer a bit of flavour. It will serve the purpose of any other helicopter currently in DCS. Mi-24P will be a great for counter insurgency type missions, like striking training camps and convoys with little to no AAA defence. But trying to clear airfields filled to the brim with Shilkas and Tunguskas is recipe for disaster. It is not the type of module that will dominate the multiplayer arena in terms of capability, wiping out bases left and right. Ka-50 has better sensors and longer range ATGM's. With flexible 30mm cannon.
  13. Found this info: "the MiG-15 carried autocannons: two 23 mm with 80 rounds per gun and a single 37 mm with 40 rounds. These weapons provided tremendous punch in the interceptor role, but their limited rate of fire and relatively low velocity made it more difficult to score hits against small and maneuverable enemy jet fighters in air-to-air combat. The 23 mm and 37 mm also had radically different ballistics, and some United Nations pilots in Korea had the unnerving experience of 23 mm shells passing over them while the 37 mm shells flew under." https://flyingleathernecks.org/project/mikoyan-gurevich-mig-15-fagot/
  14. In that case I think you should revise the MiG-19P manual. Page 2 Introduction & Credits xD Anyways... good to hear that the FM fixes is in progress, that's really what we need to hear. Looking forward to a future update
  15. Last I heard, the MiG-23 development was put on hold so Razbam could focus on completing the Mirage and Harrier. It feels like the communication is a bit fragmented between ED forums, Discord and FB.
  16. A functioning B61 might be the only thing that could convince me into getting the F-15E.
  17. A full fidelity clickable MiG-29A is planned. Sorry to hear your dissapointment. I find the FC3 package entertaining and a good complement to the more advanced modules.
  18. Any news on this? The strange AoA behaviour has been bumped several times on Hoggit and other places.
  19. This really needs to get adressed, among a couple of other issues on the F-5E. Do we really have to wait for a DLC to get some attention on this module?
  20. some1, thanks for taking time to report this! One of the most important systems on the F-86F not working correctly for years. Would anyone tolerate incorrect ACM modes on Hornet or Viper? On a gunfighter platform such as the Sabre it is extremely important that the sight works as advertised. It drives me totally nuts that issues like this are left unresolved when there are lots of time over to create new WWII propellers and other stuff. ED PLEASE FIX, WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH
  21. In cockpit, you have a radar range knob to the left of your gunsight. Either you turn it down manually by rotating it, or you bind that function to your HOTAS/Joystick. I generally turn it down to at least half. It is also very handy to have the electrical caging button bound.
  22. It's ok not to like Fri13 or his opinions. But it's users like him who help Razbam improve their modules by pointing out errors and reporting found bugs. You get a better DCS experience because of the time he is putting into this. So... understandably he gets a bit triggered when someone in a post casually mentions that "the worst bugs were resolved a loooong time ago", when the reporting section on the forums say otherwise.
  23. It's quite funny how 80% of all Razbam threads turn into a bug discussion and the remaining 20% is a new module announcement of some sorts.
  24. It seems like the South Atlantic Map (Falklands) is far along, but no news on the Sea Harrier FRS.1?
  25. +1 NineLine's last response is from October last year...
