Maverick is there a way to tell Jester to plug in this exact frequency? Or can it only be done by a Human RIO?
-
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the ForceFeedback implementation. A question regarding Data link and Jester. Currently Jester can only put in pre-determined data link frequencies, will you implement a way for me as a pilot to tell Jester to switch to a speicific frequency? Thank you.

So in the interest of SCIENCE I've upgraded to a RTX2060 today. From the GTX970 in my signature. The loading times seem to be unafected, but the texture pop-in is much quicker and my framerate is now a solid 60FPS in most conditions. Stutter has been almost completely elminated. It looks like this confirms that it is NOT a RAM issue but a VRAM one. The RTX2060 is 6GB compared to the 3.5 GB of the GTX970. Obviously a faster graphics card helps, but I believe that the Tomcat uses up a whole lot more VRAM compared to the other modules in the game.
-
Other aircraft also experience long loading times, but feature smooth gameplay. Everytime a Tomcat taxies past me frames drop to between 0 and 1 FPS. (This in the Tomcat) I think VRAM is the issue here and not system RAM.
-
What is your graphics card spec? Especially the VRAM? I suspect that there is a VRAM issue that is connected to the number of objects in the busy missions, and that it is related to the Tomcat somehow. I will test loading with some other aircraft to check.
-
Mrkline, that is interesting. Could it be that it's loading the same high detailed cockpit models and external models for ALL aircraft including the player's own aircraft? It's the only reason for the huge performance disparity between singleplayer and multiplayer. (In addition to the obvious things)
-
Seriously man, do you have anything at all constructive to say in any thread? The performance is FINE in singleplayer, in fact it runs great if you drop some settings. However in multiplayer something weird is going on. I suspect that it's loading fully detailed Tomcats and Hornets (of other players) instead of lower detailed models as it should.
-
Single player is fine, (Instant action and training missions). There is a black screen at the end of the loading time that lasts about 15 seconds, however after that everything appears and I can click fly with no problems. Very decent mostly 60FPS too, with only slightly noticable slowdowns. Multiplayer: Slightly longer loading time, however when chosing the jet and getting in the back seat, none of the textures are loaded, no scenery only the base water template. It takes 1-2 minutes for these textures to slowly pop in and for them to complete loading. After that there is extremely noticable stutter and hitching, when on the ground and noticable stutter in the air. As a result game is almost unplayable. (Please see screenshot for what the game looks like when I get into the cockpit in Multiplayer) CPU: I5 3570K@4.2 Ghz Memory: 16GB RAM (Dual channel) SSD 128GB for DCS (System disk is also on SSD, Virtual memory page file is set to system managed) GPU: GTX970 4GB

Im sorry but that is simply not true. While it is theoretically possible, especially for certain modules, for the Tomcat it is an absolute impossibility. (It requires more rudder use, and more nuanced rudder use than even DCS warbirds do).
-
This is what it looks like when I get into the jet in Multiplayer. This does not happen in Singleplayer! After a while (about 60 seconds) the textures load up. However I get consistent hitches when looking around and hitting switches in the cockpit. After getting in the air it is marginally better, but still extremely stuttery. I would appreciate the help to determine the problem. Is it a VRAM or a RAM problem? Since Im getting solid 60FPS in the single player instant action and training missions I believe it to be the latter, but I can't be sure.
-
I can get in the MP games, after an astoundingly long load time, however the performance is atrocious, pretty much unplayable. Im not sure whether it's my graphics card or my RAM. I believe it to be the latter, because single player missions work fine, and Im getting solid 60FPS with my settings. I will try and do some research before upgrading. I don't want to buy another 16Gb of RAM only for it to be my video card (or vice versa). I completely understand that the F14 is performance hungry, but we were led to believe by Cobra that it is around 15-20% slower than other modules, this is acceptable. However the reality is much different.
-
Im sorry Cobra but this should have been made clear during the pre-purchase phase. I have been nothing but supportive of Heatblur over the years and for this to be revealed only now is incredibly dissapointing. . A minumum of 32GB for multiplayer should be placed somewhere on the product display page and PRINTED IN BOLD FONT. Im incredibly angry right now, and justifiably so.
-
Could you please post a screenshot of your video settings in the game?
-
Well you can't fly the Tomcat without rudder pedals, so yeah. Pedals.

Thank you!

Im sure that they could get it from YoYo or one of the other FM developers at Eagle Dynamics. -
Is the F14's datalink supported on your server Maverick?

Heatblur have at least one developer that owns a FFB stick: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3716974&postcount=16 -
Ok so my rig is not the best, but Im having serious issues in MP. Textures take forever to load once Im in the cockpit and I get quite a bit of stuttering even high up in the air. Any suggestions on what settings I should be using to maximise performance? I've already set shadows to flat, no anti-aliasing and Im playing on 1080p resolution. Interestingly enough in single player Im not having these issues. My specs are in my signature below.

Yeah, Jester is not that great within 10nm. Wish there was some way to tell him to switch to Pulse mode.
-
Pretty much this. Jester will default to TWS mode and if you have AIM54s selected and cooled you can fire them anytime you wish. You won't have any indications of a lock on the hud however Jester will give you callouts and if you switch to the repeater mode on the TID you will see the targets with their priority numbers.

Thanks Naquaii. Quick followup. Do I have to press and hold the VSL keys for them to work? Seems like the PLM command only works if I press and hold it.
-
Ok, loving the module. Got some issues though, I can't seem to find certain commands so I can actually use them or rebind them. 1. Different ACM modes, apart from the PLM button I should be able to lock up a target using the Tomcat's version of Vertical scan mode, it has two, HIGH and LOW, how can I bind these commands? 2. Wing spoilers, how do I activate/deactivate them. Not talking about the speed break, that's simple enough, but those spoilers that are used when landing on land (not on carrier) Any help would be much appreciated. The Tomcat flies and feels great, managed to shoot down the AI SU27 without too many problems in the guns only instant action mission, however the bind menus are probably the worst I've seen out of any module so far. Either commands are missing or they are placed in places where I can't find them.
