  1. I was trying to figure out how to enable it just to see how it looks. Thanks.
  2. Already tried it. Game will hang when loading missions. It is completely dependant on a pagefile if you don't have at least 32GB RAM.
  3. Forces are weak when on the ground but increase with G loading and airspeed. I like it. Great stuff!
  4. +1 Black screen on exit everytime. Pagefile is set to system managed on the SSD housing DCS. Only solution is to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and force DCS to close.
  5. They got rid of it because they retired the only platform capable of carying it. The F14. The AIM54 we have in the game is indeed very capable, but it still falls SHORT of what the real missile is capable of. Both in guidance logic and range. This is however a shortcoming of most missiles in DCS. It's still not a super weapon, far from it, but it is a formidable stand-off weapon.
  6. Yeah it's kind of hard. Especially if you've not had the benefit of getting to grips with some older and more complete modules. My advice is read the manual. Watch the youtube video tutorials on the F14. (There are quite a few, the best and most complete are from Jabbers). Get familiar with the instrumentation in the cockpit. Figure out how to map your HOTAS. Make your own start-up checklist, I wrote mine on a piece of paper (lol) and finally just fly as much as possible. Start-up. Get up in the air, fly, do touch and go's and land. Once you get comfortable with that progress with some weapon's training and employment. Get familiar with launching off the carrier, and try and land her in once piece. In that order. The F14 is not nearly as difficult as some are making it out to be, especially in the systems modeling. You will find that the more time you spend in the module, the more things will just start to "click" and get easier and more intuitive. Set up simple goals for yourself, and work towards achieving them. Don't get too ambitious with your goals or you will just be frustrated with the module and DCS. If you don't understand some procedures, look them up in the manual. If you still don't understand them, look for youtube videos that explain them in action. Most of all, just mess around and enjoy yourself. Learning a complex module like Heatblur's F14 is half the reward of DCS.
  7. Yep this one is pretty bad. No more entering waypoints from the map for the F14 until they fix this.
  8. Most probably due to chaff. Chaff modeling is quite simplistic in DCS. It could have also run out of energy if it was a long range shot.
  9. You are never at 0 AoA, even in straight and level flight. Depending on your speed, altitude (both of which affect AoA) you will experience different levels of shaking even flying straight and level. It's especially apparent in the transonic region (when breaking through the sound barrier). It's apparently realistic behavior, which does take some getting used to but now I barely notice it except to appreciate it a lot as it tells me a whole lot about what the airframe is doing without needing me to take a single look at a gauge.
  10. Really hard to judge Space Cadet. Have you tried it from a cold dark start? It's quite possibly a simple switch that just hasn't been set in a hot start plane. Here is another great Jabbers video on the start-up from the back seat:
  11. I've had that happen to me twice after a crash. Solution was to unplug the stick from power mains, unplug it from the USB port, restart your PC then plug it back in.
  12. It's really strange that you're seing worse performance with this latest hotfix then the one before it. I have the exact opposite experience, and Im not the only one. Have you tried deleting the fxo and metashader folder in your user/saved_games/DCS folder?
  13. It depends. You're coming from a 1050Ti, so there will definitely be an improvement. I recently upgraded to the Gigabyte 2060RTX GS, from a 970GTX and it has made all the difference but admitedly the 970 is an older generation card. The rest of your system is much more recent than mine, so I believe that you would ultimately benefit more from the upgrade.
  14. When going Pulse-STT rememeber to be below your target. I can't stress this enough. P-STT works best as a look-up mode. It can't be notched but if the target is below you, you will lose him in the ground clutter. (P-STT is very susceptible to ground clutter, unlike PD-STT)
  15. I think the problem is that most crashes don't generate .log files. In my case the crashes cause my system to "hang", I then have to CTRL-ALT-DELETE and shut down the "Not Responding" DCS World manually. This doesn't generate any .log files unfortunately :(
  16. As A101Wayz already mentioned, press and HOLD the strut switch until the aircraft fully "kneels" down. Also make sure your are lined up as straight as possible before hooking up. ("U" key).
  17. Brilliant idea. A spectator mode would be absolutely great. I do wonder though, this probably falls under the purfiew of Eagle Dynamics as it would be something that would have to be hard-coded into the engine itself. Feel like this would be really hard to implement.
  18. Can confirm, latest hotfix has fixed most stuttering and performance problems on my end. However there seems to be something up with some severe crashes when engaging with AIM7Ms. Had it happen to me twice in a row now on the Blue Flag server.
  19. Actually this last patch fixed most of my stuttering and performance issues. However it appears a severe CTD has now cropped up when engaging with the AIM7 at least in MP.
  20. Good to hear. I have had only performance related crashes before this last patch. This last patch has since fixed most performance issues, however it has caused crash issues related to BVR AIM7 combat it seems.
  21. Yeah, just had that. Can confirm this bug. Started up the F14 in Buddyspike, went to F10 map to try and make markers for waypoints, after that all the Function keys and the Esc keys do not register anymore and can't do anything else except force close DCS world.
  22. They work even when selecting the gun, however the symbology is absent from the HUD.
  23. No easy answer to this, with the way that currently spotting and keeping track of aircraft is broken in DCS. (Likely won't be fixed anytime soon either) I generally see bigger fighters okay, but the F5 is really tricky to spot. I use PLA mode to lock one of them up, then zoom in for visual and switch to the TCS to check their aspect. Works quite well for me but if I take my eye off them for one second it's extremely hard to find them again. If I do lose them I generally fly at a 90 degree bank circle using VSI HI mode to until I get another lock. There is no shame in using your radar to find enemies even if you are going for a guns kill. :)
