  1. Will there be a patch today?
  2. I love how people who think it really should be this hard to spot and more importantly KEEP visual contact on enemy planes, consistantly ignore the reports of real world pilots who are forced to turn LABELS ON to actually enjoy flying in DCS. Boggles the mind.
  3. Wait for the next hotfix patch before upgrading. There are issues with RAM usage and file swapping in the F14 that Heatblur are aware of and are hoping to fix.
  4. I think it's related to the F14 release.
  5. Im not having that last one, straight as an arrow for me when keeping her at taxiing speeds (NWS engaged).
  6. Why would that turn off the pilot's TID repeater though?
  7. Doesn't seem that much different to me than the other jets in the game. Doesn't feel on rails at all however now that I've seen that video maybe the suspension could be "loosened" up a little bit? (The tires are not the cause of the wobbling, the suspension is)
  8. Please don't let this thread devolve into another one of THOSE threads. If there is a bug involved the only thing that should be posted should be relevant ONLY to the F14 and the different Phoenix missiles and possible reproductions of the bug (or lack thereof).
  9. FYI in the next patch/hotfix we should hopefuly see some improvements as per Cobra's last post on this subject.
  10. There is no appropriate use of the flap tactic. You don't need flaps as you have huge wings and if you manage to get slow enough your maneuvering flaps will engage automatically anyway. The Mig29 can do a faster turn but if he doesn't kill you in the first circle he is probably toast as almost nothing can keep up with the Tomcat in a slow speed sustained turn fight.
  11. I think he is probably talking about the LANTIRN pod. Yeah Jester can't use it yet, but he will be able to at some point between now and the end of early access. In the meantime use unguided weapons, the Tomcat is amazingly accurate even using simple dumb dombs.
  12. The real AIM54 can indeed be guided to a target by the AWG9 after losing it's own active lock. It doesn't have to "see" the target as long as the AWG9 is still illuminating it and sending guidance updates. There is nothing preventing 60's technology to do this job, nor does it require anything more other than a properly calibrated INS and a very primitive computer. Once it goes active it relies on its own radar, however if it loses lock it will fall back on AWG9 guidance if available. I don't know whether this is what is happening in this case, because Heatblur have very limited access to missile guidance logic. Once the missile leaves the rail it should behave basically like an Amraam, game logic wise, however HB have confirmed that this was something that they wanted to implement. 13. If it is not a bug, then the briefing for the mission should be changed to let you know that you should set up your IP and TP steer points by yourself.
  14. With all due respect in this particular case it is very likely a bug, or the mission designer did not set up the IP and TP, which amounts to the same thing. The briefing makes no mention of setting up your own IP and TP, so I kind of wasted an hour of my time flying the first three waypoints only to discover that the mission was broken.
  15. Silent? Do you mean that he can stop the radar from emitting? I don't actually need him to hook up a datalinked target, I just need to see them on the TID without the radar emitting and giving away my presence. Yeah Im aware that the Sukhois do it best, but I would still like to mix give it a try in my favorite bird ;)
  16. So Im thinking about a way to employ the F14B as a stealthy ambusher rather than the all-seeing-eye long-range missile boat, and Im wondering about a few things before I go experimenting on the multiplayer servers. Is there a way to turn the AWG9 off, or at least to tell Jester to put it on stand-by mode and at the same time use the Link4 datalink on the TID display to find targets? My strategy would be to load up on Aim9M's and AIM54Cs, sneak low behind enemy fighters using AWACs calls and the Datalink and then either launch the heatseekers for maximum stealth or launch the Phoenix missiles in ACM mode once I acquire the targets visually. What do you think, is it worth a shot or is it a waste of potential?
  17. Hi, so I've been trying the included missions, and the mission where you have to bomb the nuclear reactor I've noticed that the initial point and surface target steer points are missing. Is this a bug or do I have to set these up myself?
  18. Oh damn, I was wondering why I couldn't fire the damn gun after rearming.
  19. The RTX2060 is almost as fast as a GTX1080, and you can find them quite cheap. No idea how cheap or expensive they are in portugal but you should never buy an older generation card if a newer, much faster card is available for pretty much the same price. Unless you are buying used cards. That could also work, I imagine a used 1070 would be a pretty sweet deal.
  20. I beg to differ on this little bit. The Phoenix is quite deadly when employed correctly, even against small fighters like the F5. I've already had very good success rates with it both in Multiplayer and Singleplayer.
  21. Yeah that post really takes the cake ;)
  22. I've had reasonable success with Jester but yeah, it looks like he doesn't do that well in TWS as soon as targets start to maneuver and lose altitude. One thing is hugely important I've noticed and after I started doing that Jester's skills improved. Manage Jester's radar max range setting and don't touch any of the other commands. Also make sure to always turn on your datalink to the Awacs (if available) With all of that said Heatblur's Tomcat is still in early access, and Im sure that many of these issues will be ironed out eventually.
  23. Why not get an RTX2060? It's only marginally more expensive but provides much better performance.
  24. You need Jester to lock a target, either in STT mode or in TWS mode. Alternatively you can flip the ACM switch and fire them blind, but be aware that they will go for the first thing they see and if they can't see anything within their radar cone they will be trashed.
  25. As an aside how far away do you guys keep your monitor? What do you think is the optimum range? Mine is at about 70cm's away which I feel might be a little bit too far away. (27inch 1080p monitor)
