Well the patch is out today. For the 1.5 OPEN BETA. Pretty big one with the integration of WWII assets. Wonder if we will see a slow migration of WWII players back from 2.1.X back to 1.5.X once the novelty of Normandy wears of a little bit. I myself couldn't go back to the old engine.

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
OnlyforDCS replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
What a load of bollocks. Thanks for the laugh mate. :megalol: -
Such an upgrade to the Magnutude Mig21 would definitely constitute a new module. With the lack of any soviet fighter jets on the horizon I would gladly pay for such a module.

Is there any possibility of us getting the F14D-Super Tomcat?
OnlyforDCS replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Im in the same boat. Erm, plane.... Err, you get my point. I could never get as excited for the F16, the Hornet, or any of the other myriad of 4th gen+ aircraft as I could for the Tomcat. From what I've read it's a very hands on jet, no digital FBW systems to get between the pilot and the plane. With that said I slightly prefer the B over the A for one simple reason. The TF30s were never meant to be the powerplants that would power the Tomcat fleet, they were basically used as an interim solution until a better engine design matured. -
The reason why the 109 and the Dora are so deadly at the moment, apart from their HE cannon armament, is because their weapons are centrally placed. There is no gun convergence like for wing placed armament, which means that they are deadly at pretty much every range, as long as the pilot has good gunnery skills and accounts for shell drop, he can hit targets accurately at short and long ranges. When the new damage model gets implemented, the .50 cal machine guns will become more powerful, however the Axis weapons with their superior rate of fire and accuracy will become even more deadly. All Im saying is that it will even out in the end. I don't want to make generalizations but we will still get cases where planes will kill each other with one shot. The cases of planes surviving a lot of damage will probably decrease.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
OnlyforDCS replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
This. Use some logic people. There is no way an Aim9X has anything to do with an 80s scenario. End. Of. Story. -
Don't get your hopes up too soon. ED have a lot on their plate. One other thing to consider, the new damage model will apply equally to all planes. So the 109K and the Dora will become even more deadly with their nose mounted armament.

The only helicopter module that has been confirmed and is in production is the Mi-24P Hind from Belsimtek. It was put on hold some time back though, then we were told that production was resumed on the module, and after that there was no more news. I assume that work continues on the module behind the scenes. Another helicopter that was teased was the Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, by Razbam about a week or so back. It was just teased though, no idea whether it is actually in production or not.

Check out his album Parallel Lives. One of my new favorite synthwave albums. (Been listening to a lot of synthwave for the past year or so). Here it is on the official channel: -
Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?
OnlyforDCS replied to proletariat23's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think the only declassified info out there is on the capabilities of the AIM54 Phoenix. The others are too new. But some info can be found with a simple google search. You will be able to find stuff like, burn times, ranges at different DLZs, dimensions, mass etc. You can always PM GGTharos if you like and he might help you out. -
Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?
OnlyforDCS replied to proletariat23's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Just do a forum search, there are a huge number of threads on the forums describing the guidance and DLZ issues with ALL the missiles in the game. Some forum members went even so far as to do some private flow simulation test modeling for some of the missiles. -
Some of us like to see how far an air-frame can be taken. A Mig21 with modern avionics and other upgrades like the Lancer for example would be a lot of fun to fly and fight in. It could also test some fictional and possible "what-if" scenarios. This is not fantasy, these upgrades exist. In any case, the TLDR answer to your question is: because it would be fun. Oh and another thing that just occured to me. With the modules being developed at the moment, there are no 4th SOVIET generation fighters in the pipeline. For dissimilar multiplayer servers this basically means that most of the RED side are stuck playing the same FC3 level fighters over and over again. An upgrade to the Mig21 would be a welcome addition in that kind of environment.

Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?
OnlyforDCS replied to proletariat23's topic in DCS Core Wish List
A lot of info is out there. We already do know what the missiles are "capable" of. You don't need to simulate an exact replica. But something that performs the way it should perform on paper is good enough. However there are too many problems with the missiles in this game already. Even the really old missiles are not performing to specs. Until this gets fixed this conversation is basically moot. (I agree with you on the classified part though, especially with regards to aircraft systems, the F22 is something I would rather not see in DCS) -
Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?
OnlyforDCS replied to proletariat23's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I do. So does anyone and everyone who is actually flying that jet up there in that hostile sky. The objective after all is to finish your mission, and come back in one piece. You might like airquake, and thats fine, but there are a lot of us who appreciate the care that goes into all of these simulations and like to follow realistic procedures, including the one that allows you to live longer than your opponent. -

[REQUESTED]Su27 datalink not working with clients

We have gone way offtopic. But a full fidelity Fulcrum (any type) would be awesome. An advanced version like the SMT would be even better. -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
OnlyforDCS replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Rofl! Oh man, that crew must have a lot of fun together. :) -
Is anyone else having as much trouble as I am making out the different airfields and figuring out exactly where they are? I mean I can find my way around the map pretty easily to the different objectives, AOs and such. But some of the outlying airfields are spaced so close together and in such similar terrain and layout that Im finding it extremely difficult to figure out which airfield Im supposed to land on to refuel etc.

-Eagle Dynamics :( Seriously though. Updating Caucassus to the new format is a huge undertaking. Humongous! I can't stress how big it is really. For one thing every single mission and campaign for every single module will probably have to be redone, if they are projecting onto a curved map, this is a certainty. I for one hope they are sticking to the flat map, for this one reason alone.
-
Sorry if you thought that comment was directed at you. My mistake with formating since I was quoting your post. That part of the comment was directed at other forum regulars as well as myself. So, again sorry. My bad.

Actually the Normandy map is now integrated into 2.1. So Nevada and Normandy are both running on one installation. Personally I've uninstalled 1.5. Im flying 2.1 if that gets boring Ill just quit for a while and wait for 2.5. (2.5 is the version where Caucassus will be added) Unfortunately with regards to how things are going, I too am a bit skeptical that we are going to get it this year. That's a delay of two years to what was originally planned. It is what it is though. Crying about it is not going to change anything.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
OnlyforDCS replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
If you have the GPS system (Thats how I think of the F10 map) enabled, you might as well enable AMRAMMS and the R-77. I mean the GPS system is basically even newer technology than those missiles. It would fit the early 80s scenario better if the map marker was removed. Want to navigate? Use your INS, or whatever you have in the plane. Failing that, look out the window and look for landmarks. :) As for the numerical advantage I fully support the idea that an AI CAP should spawn whenever one side is at a serious numerical disadvantage. (Up to the admins to test what that number would be). The CAP should be 2x Mig31s for RED armed with R-33s and 2x F14B for Blue armed with the Phoenix. Anything less than that would probably fly low and go after helicopters and the like but these high flyers would put the fear of God/Marx into those Imperialist/Communist swine. ;) -
Could you please fix the Viggen's subpar performance?
OnlyforDCS replied to Hummingbird's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Im pretty sure something as big as the induced drag FM issue would have been mentioned in the patch notes. (If it was fixed) -
As an aside: I've never managed to get my wingman (in any of the WWII birds) to do anything he is ordered to do. He just responds, I am unable to do that, or "negative" or something along those lines then promptly gets shot down. On the plus side I do manage to beat those AI in those 2v1 situations more often than not. I just have to remember not to go into the vertical with them.
