  1. I think today we will get the 1.5.7 OB patch, and if we are really lucky, another 2.X patch.
  2. But they can already do that in the Su33 and the Mig29. (And indeed I've seen these trolls claim that the PFM added to the Su27 is garbage, and they are pushing to keep the Mig29 and Su33 FM simplified)
  3. Why? Im sure that the carrier will be paid DLC.
  4. Can you elaborate on this? Time of flight? If the targets are twenty miles apart, head on, the missile would take 40 seconds to reach the target? Am I reading this right? So in a 20 Nm head on shot the missile would basically burn for 27 seconds, and then coast for 13 seconds? For a 100 Nm, Mach 5 missile that sounds kind of slow. Assuming a mutual closing speed of say around 650 knots, I get around a 1.1 NM per second covered by the missile. Obviously the missile doesn't travel at Mach 5 during all of its flight time. So can you round that down to 0.5 NM per second as you are doing? Feels a bit much.
  5. I wonder how this will work? It seems to me that an Aim54 shot from lets say about 20 Nm, in a head on approach, at co altitude, in TWS against a fighter would be terribly difficult to avoid. The bandit would get no warning of a shot fired on his RWR until the Aim54 went pitbull. Assuming he doesn't turn and burn as soon as he sees an AN-9 contact on RWR. Assuming he even has a RWR that can display the specific radar illuminating him. In addition to all of those things, at that kind of range the missile's energy would still be fairly high (I believe that it's motor would still be in high burn by that time too) so I would say it shouldn't be as ineffective as you make it out to be. With all of those things said, a disclaimer. We have no idea until we get our hands on module and the missile and test it out ourselves.
  6.
  7. Excellent. Are you going to feature the labels mod like on the Burning Skies server?
  8. CTRL + ENTER will show you your virtual stick, so yeah if there are forces acting on it it in the game that deflection will be shown in the window.
  9. Vulcan is a special version of OpenGL. Just as an FYI. In any case you can't make a direct comparison because there isn't one. A game needs to be able to support OpenGL before it can run on Vulcan, and to get very high framerates with the Vulcan API it needs to be designed from the ground up for it. So, the answer to your question is probably no, this is something that Eagle Dynamics would not be looking at unless they plan on doing the whole engine from scratch. Again.
  10. Actually it was only announced two years ago. 2/10 Troll attempt. Try again
  11. Well now, that never occurred to me Rudel_vhw. Thanks a lot for your reply.
  12. I think what the mods are trying to get across is that this functionality is not exactly top priority for Eagle Dynamics at the moment. It also involves a fair bit of work. If the FM is finalized or close to finalized for the module, removing the pylons would probably require more FM calculations, due to effects of pylons on drag, lift, mass distribution etc. etc. I don't think people should expect this "feature" to be part of early access, however I think it would probably be fair to say that people who simply do aerobatics with their DCS modules would be overjoyed if it was added at some later point in time.
  13. Well I've got the Asus Turbo 970GTX, which seems to feature the same kind of cooler. The card stays quite cool, however the turbo blower is louder when compared to the aftermarket coolers you will find on third party graphics cards.
  14. Currently the FM is slightly dodgy in low speed high alpha flying. Basically the aircraft runs out of lift much sooner than it should. That's why the landings are definitely harder currently than they should be. When doing an ILS landing, even if you nail it perfectly from the instrument perspective you are very likely to damage your plane if you are on the heavier side. However CptSmiley (lead FM programmer) has confirmed that this issue has been fixed and is coming in the next patch.
  15. Actually the reason is the latest change to Russian espionage laws, which can be especially restrictive to private companies, depending on their interpretation which is up to the Russian MOD and courts. I believe that not only would Eagle Dynamics need permission from the respective design bureaus, but from the Russian MOD as well, but even with these permissions the legality of putting out these modules is open to interpretation and question by the courts. At least that's the word on the grapevine.
  16. In the Words of the Dude: That's like, just your opinion man! :music_whistling: I for one feel that the most relevant "F" is on its way and we will see it "hopefully" released in some form this year. Yes Im talking about the legendary F14 Tomcat. ;) I will never understand the huge attraction that the Falcon (or Viper) has for pretty much every simmer out there. I guess a lot of it is due to the great study sim that I won't mention here by name. It's also a very popular export plane that sees service in a lot of countries. IMO the Hornet is a much more interesting multirole platform, due to carrier operations, though it's hard to argue with the F16 performance numbers, especially when configured for Air to Air. I guess what Im trying to say is that I don't really care much one way or another whether we ever get the F16 in DCS.
  17. The shots of the Caucassus map in particular look amazing. Would love to see some mountain shots as well in the future, as well as some winter shots. Would also love to know how far out it is from release, at least whether it will be coming before the SOH map? I have an itch to go back and fly some Blueflag, but have uninstalled 1.5 :)
  18. This is a very good and informative post. Thanks AbortedMan. What kind of targets do you usually pick on BlueFlag and how do you get the coordinates? Related to that question what weapons do you choose? Im usually in favor of something that can take out the target in one pass.
  19. Are the servers out there running Viggen specific missions?
  20. Thanks for the reply RagnarDa however the Viggen was not mentioned in the official patch notes released today. Does this mean that the fixes did not make it into today's patch?
  21. This is actually a valid question. 1.5.7 was released today for open beta. No patch notes for the Viggen in that patch.
  22. There are memory leaks in 2.1 just like there are in 1.5. The memory management is probably much worse in the Alpha though. I was having constant crashes, until I enabled my virtual memory file and set it to 1000MB. In 1.5 I used to run with Virtual Memory disabled. Thats it. Any bigger and I get huge stutters. With this I hardly get any crashes in 2.1.
  23. The Bf109 is a very hands on plane. It even lacks a rudder trim (actually it is set on the ground) so it will behave rather strangely in the air under different conditions. I believe that when flying with automatic prop pitch on, and setting the throttle to ATA to 1.1-1.15 then trimming out the pitch axis for level flight you will be able to cruise completely trimmed out, with hands off stick. Try that and report back on your experience.
