  1. My 2 c: While the game can look fantastic at certain times of day, during certain weather conditions and certain altitudes, I have to say that in general DCS World has never looked uglier and ran less efficiently, at least since the switch to DCS World 2.5. (The switch from 1.x.x to 2.x.x. was fantastic though) I feel kind of dissapointed that to keep DCS looking and running great we have to keep throwing more and more powerful hardware at it, while seeing very little improvement in graphics. I will admit that cockpits have gone up in fidelity but everything else seems to be 1 step forwards, two steps back. Please don't take this as a rant, but more as constructive criticism. I do appreciate that ED is a business and that modules take priority. I do wish that at least with the degraded visuals we would get better frame-rates but this does not seem to be the case.
  2. Ok I stand corrected. However my other point still stands, it's difficult if not impossible to implement such a system since it incurs a lot of additional costs for no real gains. (From a business perspective) It would probably make more sense to just make the D variant, and market it and sell it as a whole new module.

    V or VP

What was the official Eagle Dynamics line for choosing the P variant over the V? I seem to remember reading it somewhere but can't recall why they chose the P over the V or VP... My personal opinion is that in DCS world, with all its limitations of infantry and maybe even more importantly damage modeling, the 12.7mm would not be anywhere near as effective as it is in the real world. Also, there is complexity to consider. Modeling a rotating turret, sight, etc. is more time intensive and costly compared to a helicopter that simply doesnt feature one.
  4. The F14B never had a DFCS AFAIK. What you are asking for would require a LOT of work, additional costs and overhead. Not to mention that it throws away realism down the tubes.
  5. Hmmm. Interesting. I did exactly that, used OTT to set FPS to 45 and ghosting did appear at times. It's probably user error on my part, or something strange is going on with DCS with regards to how it handles its own application settings or outside settings.
  6. The solution is definitely not to throw more hardware at the problem. A 2080Ti should really be fine for DCS. The problem is that DCS needs VR optimization.
  7. Yeah Ive had this happen to me yesterday, one mission was fine in another mission and I saw the double/shimmering image of objects outside the cockpit at times. Does this happen when the graphics card can't push the frames for continuous 40FPS ASW?
  8. The default key for centering my view I figured out was Numpad5. Where can I change the VR zoom buttons? In DCS itself?
  9. Ok, I managed to solve this particular problem. My solution? Letting the S warm up a bit, dropping the temp a bit on the AC unit, and using a silk bandana around my forehead. Now with the bandana on, my face doesnt sweat so much since its not in direct contact with the foam, and I think this is the main thing that did the trick. Thanks a lot everyone.
  10. Yeah it has been pretty warm and humid lately. But Ive tired playing with the AC on, and it doesnt seem to help that much. Last night I played for about an hour and half and it wouldn't defog. Correction I tried playing for an hour and a half, but most of that time was spent fiddling with the headset, moving it away from my face so that it would defog a bit, etc. After the session my face was literally drenched with sweat, so on wonder it fogs up. I havent tried using that cloth to clean the lenses, but will try that tonight. Interestingly enough, loosening the headset on my head makes it fog up much less, as does just pushing it away from my face. So I have a feeling that just punching some holes in the plastic or the foam might do the trick, however Im loath to do that as that would probably void the warranty.
  11. On the F14, you should also get a stiffening of the stick with increased G load. Thats the way it is setup in the real plane, however with the limited power of the force feedback motors this is nowhere near the levels of the real thing. It is still nice however, and once you get better muscle memory it will allow you to "feel" what the plane is doing during maneuvers. On the WW2 (and the L39) birds you should also feel a smilar effect due to the airflow forces acting on the control surfaces.
  12. Like the title says, are there any quick solutions to this problem? Basically my Rift S gets foggy within minutes of me putting it on, and worse of all it stays pretty foggy unless I periodically keep keep moving it away from my face. Even then some of the moisture stays on the lenses, and I cant really do that and keep my hands on my HOTAS. So how do you guys get around this issue? It's probably the number one issue I have with VR at the moment.
  13. Another question regarding the Oculus Tray Tool. Is there are a guide to using it somewhere? Specifically Im wondering how to set ASW to 40 instead of the default 45 or Auto?
  14. This is a pretty good thread, will give some of your settings a try. I have the Rift S, but hopefully some of this translates to better performance for me as well.
  15. Ok, thanks for those tips. Ive got a few more questions: How do you guys deal with the fogging on the S? Im having pretty large issues with this, I guess my face is quite hot? Is there some kind of "hardware" mod I can do, like drilling a hole somewhere?
  16. I guess Im going to have to try and do some experimenting. Starting up an L39C was almost impossible in the training mission, due to many switches simply not working with the touch controllers (or more probably me not hitting them correctly) Thanks for the extensive reply Streakeagle.
  17. Thanks topo will try some of that. What about using the Oculus Touch controllers? Either Im doing something wrong or they dont work as advertised.
  18. Not sure if this has been asked before. Will the map have different texture sets for different seasons? I know that it is mostly a desert map, but in parts of Syria and certainly in Lebanon, these regions look very different during different seasons.
  19. One other thing, using the Oculus Software Center (Or whatever its called) I cant find a page or tab with proper display options. The only things I did find was IPD distance and a setting that chooses whether the output is set for "performance" or "quality". Also, when I run DCS World I had to enable an option in the Oculus software that enables unsupported third party apps with the Rift S. Is that normal?
  20. Hi everyone, Im late to the party just got the Rift S yesterday. Had a LOT of trouble setting it up but finally managed to get it to work and I gotta say it feels like a gamechanger.....BUT.... I really need some help setting it up properly, Im on the latest Beta of DCS World and my specs are in the signature. If someone with similar specs can help me out that would be great. So here goes: How do I set up ASW properly? How do I check whether ASW is working? (How do I check FPS in VR) How do I setup touch controllers to "hit" the switches? (they work but I cant seem to hit anything) What are the graphics settings which affect the performance in VR the most, any tips and suggestions are welcome... Why does the world look so "washed out" compared to the look on the monitor? Can this be affected? Oculus Rift Tray Tool? Tips on its use? And any other general comments, tips would be much appreciated. Actually Im surprised that VR works so well, but so far Ive only tried it in the L39 and the Spitfire in singleplayer.
  21. Dont want to open a new thread, before I ask here first: So I got the Rift S only yesterday, setting it up has been quite a hassle. But it works well enough once setup properly (which is something Im still tinkering with) My question is concerning the touch controllers: How do I use them in DCS? They just dont seem to work for me. I see the "hands" I can move them around but how do I flip the switches? Which combinations of buttons on the controllers do I have to press to actually flip a switch? Taking my hands of the stick and using the mouse in the air seems to be impossible, or at least much, much harder than it is with a 2d screen.
  22. As I see it the issue is mainly with guided weapons, the pilot should be able to fly the Helo from the back seat while the AI handles targeting with those weapons.
