  1. Someone should really change the title of this thread, since it's very confusing and not exactly what the OP wants. (Although Im reasonably sure he would happy if the auto-start sequence were actually completely removed from the game.)
  2. I would really hold off on that new graphics card. I mean sure, you will be able to turn the eyecandy up, but your minimum frames would still be a problem, and here no amount of graphics power will do much for you. As soon as you have a populated scene and the CPU frametimes spike you will be CPU bound no matter your card. From your system you have a very similar system to myself, with a more powerful graphics card, but then again you are using a headset with much more pixels to push. I think you should at least wait until AMD releases their new series, or your G2 arrives, whichever comes first. You don't really lose anything by waiting.
  3. Mi8 all the way. It's like flying an aerial bus. Seriously, this thing just "feels" massive. It's heavy, but it has a lot of power. It flies exactly like you would expect it to fly and I prefer it to the Huey, simply because its a little less twitchy. I think this is due to it's mass and inertia. When it gets up to speed it's very smooth and flies almost like a fixed wing. It's hard to describe much better than that, it just feels right. I recently gave a whirl just to see whether I remember how to get it in the air and land, this is after a couple of years of exclusive fixed-wing DCS flying and I managed to get it into the air and back on the ground in one piece.
  4. Well yeah, thats what I mean for reference. And no not everyone has figured out how to use the kneeboard or load custom files into the kneeboard.
  5. Can someone please tell me how Im supposed to read the manual while wearing the Rift S on my head?
  6. You stated yourself that you wanted a higher server population and more people cooperating through comms, for GCI intercepts or whatever. Well believe it or not a lot of people are intimidated by SRS, so instead of participating they will either A) not join the server, or B) join the server as lone wolfs and not really contribute much to the mission or even have as much fun as they could have.
  7. Does it have seasons? Is there snow on the mountains in winter?
  8. If I can get close to the performance of the 3080 at half the price, I will gladly do the driver dance hell Ill do the driver strip-tease  (But yeah, if the card performs similarily or slightly better than an Nvidia card at a similar price point, then Nvidia is definitely the way to go. Especially considering the RTX and DLSS technologies)
  9. Is SRS absolutely required? I've not played Multiplayer since in-game comms were enabled, but wouldnt using in-game comms for GCI be much easier and simpler to use for everyone involved?
  10. I have no idea, it probably will be. I do believe that the performance/benchmarks are going to be close to the levels of Nvidia and AMD's pricing will be aggressive. One of the reasons why I feel that both of these things will be true and that AMD will finally put out a decent graphics card after a very long time is Nvidia's pricing this time round.
  11. Not sure why everyone is jumping on the bandwagon so quickly? I mean it appears that this was mostly a paper launch anyway. Is waiting a month for Big Navi and for more stock from Nvidia really that hard?
  12. I never used to. Now with VR? Let's just say it makes things a whole lot less complicated and lets me actually enjoy what I enjoy most in DCS. The flying.
  13. Good stuff there. Looking forward to the campaigns for the B. and the A. (Kind of tired of the multiplayer stuff)
  14. It's been a while since I've flown the F14. Does the AIM54 still track even when turning cold before it is in active range? Do other missiles in DCS do the same?
  15. While I do agree with you that spotting is hard IRL, it is definitely easier than using a computer screen or VR headset. So while those 3-5nm are probably very close to real values, they do NOT take into account that: A) we are not sitting in a real cockpit B) the lighting and contrast draw values of the DCS engine is nowhere near what it is in real life. So yeah, spotting should not be easy-peasy but it should not be as hard as it is now in DCS World and simply drawing pixels so that the spotting distance reflects real world values is IMO completely wrong and not representative. With all of that said I don't know why this thread is in Heatblur's subforum as spotting is a big issue in DCS World in general.
  16. This would be great, although I'm not sure it would help that much at the altitudes you fly in this thing. Unless you happen to be extremely lucky a MANPAD launch against a heli in DCS is almost always a hit.
  17. Someone should close this thread. This guy is probably seriously mentally ill and needs help.
  18. There is a switch for that, on the front missile arming panel, that lets you fire the 54 right of the rail, almost no delay (maybe a second) radar-hot. I forget what it's called but it's very, very useful for "close" range BvR.
  19. Yes I fully understand the value of tracks, which makes it all the more ridiculous that even after all these years tracks do not work correctly 100% of the time. This is just one among countless examples of deep seated and inherent problems within DCS World.
  20. Yes I get all that, but Im not sure what you are trying to say. That it's impossible to stall airplanes in other simulations?
  21. @Bignewy No one doubts the dedication or sincerity of the developers and mods on these boards, but still the OP makes some good points. I have a question. Have tracks been fixed yet? The last time I tried replaying one, it didn't go so well. At this point why even have them? I mean they have been broken for years now.
  22. This is only with regard to systems modeling. AFAIK there are no restrictions on flight modeling, there is no way you can "nerf" a flight model. I mean you could do it, but even small discrepancies can, and usually do break the entire FM. I mean Eagle Dynamics might not have the most accurate or up to date data, which is why SMEs like like Habu are important to fill in the gaps. As for the whole terrorists breaking in on an airbase and stealing an A10C, well that's just too many hollywood movies dude. The biggest threat is corporate and government espionage, with no "material" theft involved.
  23. This right here is one of the biggest issues in DCS at the moment.
  24. I really can't make sense of these statements of yours. Stall speed has nothing to do with G loading. Stall speed is the speed at which an aerofoil stops producing lift, or whenever a critical angle of attack is exceeded.
