  1. So, I got a new ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor and now I am running into this problem. I can adjust using right ctrl shift and the / * keys in the A10 for example... but then most of the HUD isn't visible. This doesn't seem to be an issue in the Harrier. Funny thing is mostly this seems to happen after using a axis zoom function (bound to my throttle), when you initially load and the sim view is finished zooming out on mission start it is ok... until you use the Zoom axis, then it resets your head view to be too far forward. Attached both screen shots. Left is before touching axis zoom, right is after using it.
  2. Another shout out to VKB (Rrohde and UIV especially). I ended up shipping my stick and base to Rrohde, the same day the package arrived it was troubleshot, a circuit board replaced and shipped back to me... on a Saturday! Pretty good, I just thought it would all be done on Monday. Anyway, thanks VKB.
  3. Aside from the questions about performance gains... how long does something like this take? I assume the trees and forests are hand placed through brushes or something? Thanks Wags!
  4. I would go a step further and say absolutely not.... not in DCS at least.
  5. People LOVE updates, no need for apologies. :D Once I get my stick back I will update every day, lol.
  6. Yea, temporarily botched some fan control software from asus too, but they patched it pretty quick.
  7. Just want to throw a "Thank you" out there to VKB staff for helping me out with the stick issues. The support responses were quick during what I am sure is an insanely busy time for them. I am shipping the stick and base back to them tomorrow, god I hope it doesn't turn out to be my fault after all of this. :D
  8. I didn't see a thread for this here yet so here it is: http://fighterpilotpodcast.com/ . This guy was a Navy F/A-18 pilot and has other pilots on as guests. With the F/A-18 coming out soon I figured we all have a lot of questions, they have an email as well as a phone # you can call to ask your questions. 877-MACH-101 or questions@fighterpilotpodcast.com
  9. Also, be aware... you can't go too thick or you won't be able to close the throttle handles back up. That's the other issue I ran into with trying to heat shrink them.
  10. I think I am being totally sensible here... no need to delete your post, you were sensible as well. I am just saying the wiring in the X55 and X56 is well known, so it is an issue a lot of people are having. Treating a HOTAS badly might result in breaking things on the external parts but certainly it would be difficult to break anything inside by abuse. It really is a shame, it's a great external design with a poor internal quality.
  11. Has nothing to do how you treat your gear when the internal wiring is breaking from normal use. ;)
  12. It should... but working inside the throttle is not at all easy... the wires are freaking tiny/thin and there is grease everywhere, it is an absolute mess. I attempted to resplice my wires with head shrink and let's just say I got a little overzealous with my use of the heat gun and managed to melt all the wires together. I said screw it and got the TM 16000 throttle until VKB's comes out.
  13. What about a single ultrawide monitor? Also, for those that already own triple screens ASUS has come out with (should be available soon) these devices that hide the bezels:
  14. My opinion and experience is about 100% the same as Bearfoot's. I loved my X55.... the layout, comfort, amount of buttons, etc were damn near perfect. On the other side of things, ghost presses.. even with a powered USB HUB were a big problem... sometimes my landing gear would drop or canopy open for no reason. Then only after a year of use things started going wrong with the rotaries, the one I used for zoom would constantly cause jittering, this is due to the internal wires starting to break. When I opened it up I saw all the wires were half way broken in the throttle. It's really a shame, they had the potential for a fantastic HOTAS, they were so close... but they cheaped out on some very important parts (better wires/wiring wouldn't have cost them much more at all) and that is where the X-55 and 56 fails. I am glad some of you havn't had issues... but many of us have, and it is only a matter of time for the rest of you since the wires are the same. The Thrustmaster TWCS throttle is my stand in until VKB release their throttle. It certain feels and is cheaper than the X-55 one, but just as functional.
  15. Games these days aren't really even 60 bucks anymore. Most of them have different "versions" that cost more. Look at Shadow of War for example, 60 bucks for the base game, Silver for 80 bucks, Gold for 99 bucks. Not to mention games that have GOTY versions, DLC, Expansions, etc. To get an entire experience of a game you are spending way more than 60 bucks. Now let's look at something like the Hornet... how many years has this been in development? 6 or more? Longer than most AAA games. We can also look at it from an aspect of price per playtime. Most AAA games let's say you get 15-30 hours of content before you pretty much got everything the game has to offer (there are exceptions). Put that against the F-18 or any other DCS modules, and you start to see how little they actually cost. Basically, I don't feel there is any legit argument against modules being more expensive than 60 bucks. If you don't think it is worth it, or cannot afford it, wait for a sale.
  16. I would chalk it up to being still early WIP... since just a week or so ago Wags said it was.
  17. Love the bottle of vodka sitting there empty. :D I am sure this release week has caused a few bottles of that to go empty.
  18. Being a packer of the Pimax has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster of enthusiasm to disappointment in a cycle. I understand kickstarting is never a sure thing and not to be used as a store front... but pimax has made some weird marketing decisions and sometimes seemed a tad bit like they were in over their heads. This could turn out to be a huge failure or it could be one of the first headsets that make you say... yea VR is now THE best way to fly.... or somewhere in between.
  19. Not that I expected it to... but the newest firmware didn't help with my issue. Looks like the connection to the stick is ok but the stick itself is faulty.
  20. It allows both the MG12 grip and the MCG to work without having to swap firmware is what I gathered. Might add more stuff bud I don't know.
  21. Oh nice, DCS and pimax: https://np.reddit.com/r/Pimax/comments/7pu592/pimax_8k_demo_with_dcs/
  22. Did you run it as admin? I haven't done the upgrade yet since I am at work.
  23. Not really an "official source" but here you go: http://forum.pimaxvr.com/uploads/default/original/2X/9/93abaf664af08e72351525d3a3534c14d9488871.png
  24. Ok UIV.. got the multimeter. So, first I tried connecting the 3 cables from the stick directly to the base as seen in the below image and still got the flashing red light. In continuity mode I am getting a signal on each of the 3 wires with the stick connected to the base... so at least we know the connection from the base to the stick is good. If you have any other requests let me know. :)
