  1. I use it sometimes for firing rockets or bombs, on some modules, or a master arm in others. I've got the MCG on a Mamba and it's a superb combo, I'm still waiting on a Gunfighter (seamless trade between UK and EU.........................right!!! over 3 weeks in customs and still no sign) What's pretty cool is the trigger can be configured to give button activation for safe, hot and 3 triggers. I don't use the double trigger command though as it's too many buttons for me. Using it as a single trigger in the MCG software then having the normal trigger activate, in effect giving a double trigger works well for me though The VKB software is really great, it's just a bit intimidating and a little difficult to navigate until you get used to it.
  2. I'm not aware of anything available right now that could do what you want. I use my own profile to call kneeboard pages I want to look at and do that for the Interactive Kneeboard tabs as well. If you were looking for some sort of halfway house, how about asking Hollywood to make command that could switch the Auto Browse On/Off via the Execute External Plug In command in VA. Alternately if AutoBrowse could be switched On/Off for just particular tabs Personally I'm just pleased that it can be switched off as it messed up my kneeboard profile
  3. Not sure I'm following, but are you referring to the Interactive Kneeboard jumping automatically to a page when new data is issued? If you don't want that to happen just disable Auto Browse below the Transparency slider
  4. That is a large part of the secret to the Spit, well that and a lot of practice Nearly everybody I know who tries it at first, over controls which is natural, the trick IMHO is small early rudder input once on the runway the phrase I've heard a lot, and it's bang on, is "dance on the pedals". Even during taxi if the rudder inputs are small and early it usually runs reasonably straight with little brake input required Apart from being pretty quickly on the throttle when taking off, everything else is small inputs Generally I try not to flare but fly it level over the runway then let it settle down itself. This nearly always results in a touchdown first time and if it bounces, as the nose is nearly level, makes a small to medium bounce uneventful. Once down I just smoothly pull back on the stick, yanking on it can result in a bounce and generally unsettles it. I don't apply brakes till the speed is well down, if you get the rudder inputs right at touchdown, which I don't quite often, it will roll fairly straight. The video of the Spit pilot applying the brakes is interesting too, I tried that a few times, relatively light fast pulsing and that works well for me too
  5. Here is Pt 1, he has made 8 videos on the "Jug" and I recommend them all However Pt 1 also goes into aircraft operation so I thought seeing it was referenced above I'd also post it here too
  6. Well I'm not a pilot or aerodynamicist, so I'm pretty clueless I just imagined that there would be marked difference in stall speeds and induced drag, which there may well be but its not as noticeable as I thought If I try to put the Spit on the deck at 100mph I can but only briefly as I'm immediatley airborne post haste Thanks for providing the info @grafspee
  7. Thanks again, yeah I understand the principles and what the real life effect are, I just question the modelling perhaps being a bit off. In both modules the touchdown speed remains the same and the behavoiur when down on the runway. The 109 feels much the same to land with and without flaps, the Spit (so far) is actually more manageable without them deployed. The screech on the tyres I mentioned with the Spit seems to be the trim. If I trim to +1.0 (second trim marking up from zero) tail heavy it touches down without any hystrionics whatsoever
  8. Thanks @grafspee I've been attemping it with the Spit too, no flaps, no problem. Need to try some more with the Spit though not sure if it's the higher touchdown speed or trim condtion but the Spit's tyres squeal in protest. This is with around 60-70% fuel both with the Spit and the 109, maybe it will be different at higher fuel loads
  9. Been spending some time in the 109 practicing landings and takeoffs and reckon I'm now competent (at best) Just a question regarding flaps, trimming and approach speeds when learning to land initially it was Trim -1 and full flaps. However now I don't bother with either flaps or trim (it's always set full nose down) and don't notice any real difference to my stick position or touchdown speed. That's only anectodal I haven't tried to actually quantify it, but it feels like flaps and trim have precious little effect on landing behaviour. Perhaps I use a bit more runway but that seems about it. I'm not a pilot so I don't know so I'm asking the questions
  10. I have the module but was a bit MEH!! towards it. IMHO it's not a beautiful aircraft, in fact bit of a "big girl" if you get my meaning. We all have our biases towards aircraft and history, so that (unkowningly) is part of it, I'm a Brit. That out the way though I'm going through "Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles" videos on the Thunderbolt on YouTube and now getting an idea of just how good this aircraft actually was and the part it played in the war. Add into that the technical complexity and sheer brilliance of the ariframe and engine design and its making me want to fly it a lot more As others said it doesn't have that one particular WOW factor that other aircraft have, but can do almost everything and doesn't do anything at all badly and nearly everything very well indeed. It's also amazingly tough and provided great pilot protection, it reminds me of the B-17 in that respect, kept flying when it had no right too. Really starting to appreciate what a brilliant aircraft this was, but again as others pointed it, it's an acquired taste and takes time to appreciate
  11. I know many will be familiar with how it all works and many will already have found "Greg" on YouTube But for new users of the module this might help
  12. Let's hope Heatblur might get around to adding landing lights at some point. I'm not going to launch into a "Mr Angry & Outraged" that we don't have them, having the NVGs are at least something and makes night flying possible for now Just glad that I can Taxi around and take off, sure they'd be great to have but I'm happy with having a taxi light. Heatblur I'm sure are up to their ears in some other new project to generate some income. They'll make very little on the older modules so maintaining them must be a bit of a PIA from there viewpoint, but they do
  13. I'm rubbish had a go in a real aeroplane perhaps 40 years ago for 30 minutes, that's my total experience. Do quite a lot in sims though but really only DCS now No feedback peripherals at all. I find the Spit perfectly fine and it flies and trims well for me. I usually can't get the trimming quite perfect but I can trim it well enough to remove my hands from the stick without any drama at fixed engine settings. Landing is tricky but not so hard with a bit of practice, so you know what to expect That said I'm not a combat guy, the joy of this sim for me is the comms, navigiation, weather, flight characteristics etc:
  14. Just like to add my thanks for the taxi light fix for me it has been the biggest problem. Need to try the NVGs too The Group and Base Channels have always been hard to read AFAIK, never seen them illuminated, personally I just use the flashlight as my workaround, no clue what it's like in the real thing, but I'd imagine they were iluminated Anyway I'm just happy that I can now take the Viggen out after dark and great that the Devs are paying attenion to the forum, very much appreciated big thumbs up from me
  15. I don't want to drag the thread "Off Topic" but just to answer that question. You don't necessarily have to sacrifice a switch or button, the state/layer could be invoked when the aircraft is setup in a particular configuration and you use a switch to set it that way anyway. For example it could be when you activate the AAR probe, Gear, Flaps etc: (lots and lots of options). You'd use these switches to set Flags and invoke a specific mode/layer/state. Other buttons could then have entirely different functions. I've never tried this but you could then make states for perhaps 2 flags being activated as well, when gear is down state 1, when flaps are down state 2, when gear and flaps are down state 3. That's kinda simplistic and unrealisitic but you get the idea. One I use a lot is landing gear, when the gear is up my paddle on the Grip deactivates A/P when down it activates/deactivates nosewheel stg. Some aircraft actually do that anyway, but with TARGET you can set up those that don't to adopt that configuration. Lots of ways to do it and IMHO a very clever way to get more out the HOTAS
  16. I have the early model T Rudders that are a backup (I may use them when the Gunfighter stick arrives) but at the moment I'm using Slaw's pedals which are superb. For the Spitfire I don't use the toe brakes at all, instead I use the rudder axis on the pedals and an axis on an MCG grip on a VKB Mamba for the brake handle. That combo works great, I found using the toe brakes on the Spit just didn't work for me at all well, trying to move the rudders rapidly and apply the toe brakes was horrible IMHO. You could apply the lever axis to anything handy, at one point I was using the friction lever on the Warthog throttle as the brake lever although not a handy as the lever on the stick it worked Ok and I could take off and land fine. Another idea would be to use the second throttle on dual throttle set up as the brake axes. In yet another iteration a long time back I had the brake lever mapped to 2 buttons on the CMS hat, one for wheel brakes decrease the other for increase (I think that setup is unique to the Spit). I used that and could land the Spit in the early days when the tail wheel was like the castors on a sofa. You just tapped the button very lightly near the end of the landing run and it applied a little brake to give you control on the final roll out I really can't see why the Russian/British style of brakes couldn't be applied to any of the warbirds modules I own, I don't have the I-16, but all the others. I can't think of a case where you want to brake one way and rudder another, they are always to the same side. I would far prefer though to use an axis for the brake as opposed to a button, but even that's doable. Believe me I'm no pilot so if I could do it I'm sure nearly everybody could
  17. Interesting @flyco it sounds like I do the same for nose trim nose down to the first short mark on the gauge (I call it 1/2 as there is bigger graduation above it which I thought was 1) I set the rudder so as the O in PORT is facing upward Anyway I throttle up smoothly not a slam, to +4 boost and leave the stick central throughout and she flies herself off. Ocassionally a very slight pull if she starts to bounce to lift her off the deck. Start with rudder central, all that's required throughout is some brisk light dancing on the rudders to hold her straight I find that if I go much over +4 boost or have the stick back she becomes much more of a handful.
  18. You talking about inside Vaicom in the Pop Up under the Config Tab Max? "Run in debug mode" Its not checked, thanks for the suggestion right now I'll try anything to get rid of the dammed thiing
  19. I've had this a while now but it's super annoying. When I'm running Vaicom everything is fine and Chatter works Ok and I can enable/disable at will using the Chatter command However it's when I'm not running Vaicom and in a standalone profile, this error message keeps appearing. I don't mind the message, but as soon as it comes up it switches "Listening" off and I've then got to re-enable the microphone to issue commands. The Auto-start in the EX tab of the Vaicom pop up is NOT ticked. Anybody Help?
  20. Sounds like Windows is interfering again, probably user account settings no idea what you can do if you don't want to run it as Administrator. Just in case you do the usual way is to right click and select properties on th pop up select the compatibility tab and then change settings for all users. That opens another box and in there is the option to run it as administrator
  21. I've encountered this in the past and as @speed-of-heat says it takes a long time to load My Target program is pretty much flawless most of the time except if I'm using TeamSpeak when it takes a very long time to load. The 2 most common problems I'm aware of are first to make sure you're USB devices in the Device manager don't have the Allow computer to shut off this device under the properties in Power Management. Sometimes after a Windows Update they will get reset to enable that option and it's a pain Second thing I'm aware of is the Microsoft Store can interfere with it so I normally disable it in the Task Manager
  22. @Drac AFAIK that's the app that will restart Voice Attack if it crashes. I normally just start Voice Attack as it's fairly stable on my setup and don't use the Vaicom executable. Vaicom starts as part of Voice Attack because it's a plug in component. Bottom line you don't need Vaicom.exe to run Vaicom with Voice Attack, Vaicom will run fine if you just start Voice Attack If however you use the VAICOMPRO.exe it will auto start Voice Attack and then also act as a watch dog. If VA shuts down unexpectadly the VAICOMPRO.exe should auto restart Voice Attack again. Are you saying you use VAICOM.exe and it isn't restarting Voice Attack when it crashes?
  23. Assuming Voice Attack is in C drive it's usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO\VAICOMPRO.exe
  24. Is there any chance of converting Jafa's mod somehow, it was really, really good. I can't argue authenticity having never taken a ride in a Spitfire but to my ear the engine always sounds like it's about to tear itself apart even when at relatively low low settings in cruise
  25. Hi @Taz1004 Can't comment on the throttle question, but to answer on the profiling software yes it does, at first it's a bit daunting (but won't be to you for long judging by your mods) VKB_DevCfg, search VKB software in YouTube there are a string of videos on it, I believe it can also be used for keyboard strokes too although I've never tried that Damm it all Sokol beat me to it
