Advice on the Flanker for BVR or engagements in general?
kobeshow replied to JazonXD's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Well I guess he was talking about their ability to turn, but you are right in regards to acc/speed for the R-27ER (ET?), that can be an advantage in BVR and many people don't know about it. -
Advice on the Flanker for BVR or engagements in general?
kobeshow replied to JazonXD's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
This is true, but like all tips with specifics they are specific to certain situations and do not always apply. For example: In the dynamic BlueFlag PvP campaign we have human GCI that depends on EWRs and the fighter's radars to get a picture, I have seen a lot of people doing their "flying low, EO only-routine" leaving the controller blind and unable to send them help in time. Similarly in this event you can't afford to have a short time on station (I know you exaggerated a bit with 5min but still) @OP: You need to adapt your style of flying to the task at hand, if you are on the 104th for the airquake and K/D then low+EOS is your best bet probably, but you don't control airspace and don't build SA for your team that way, so whatever tips you read always keep in mind that depending on where you are, they might not be applicable, and often times you need to switch tactics within a single sortie multiple times. -

well there are things in there that are useful, like the holding lock button in close combat modes or how to IFF in EO (which sometimes can still give a lock warning), things that are "gamey" and specific to DCS multiplayer, such guides should not be completely dismissed. Flankertraining is probably the best place to go though, totally agreed. -

The guide actually DOES say that, although that it is not necessarily true, it all depends on the circumstances. All in all the guide is a good starting point and gives a lot of good info about the sensors, but the tactics part is short and leaves some things to be desired (; -
Also: Find a server that offers more meaningful roles for the other modules, have a look at BlueFlag where pretty much everything is viable, and in terms of A2A it often has weapon restrictions which in some cases gives Mirages the "longest arm".

How to put the target at the radar limits?
kobeshow replied to apocom's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
there is a dot in your HUD when you lock a target, this represents the direction the radar is pointed, put it on the edge of your HUD and the enemy will be on your gimbal limit. -
I assume that comlaints increase whenever there is a perceived/real imbalance in the setup, since West vs East was introduced there is more room for people to complain since modules became side-exclusive.

oops ... lost the defaut Labels.lua file

Right click on the game in your library, go to "properties" and then select the tab "local files", there you click the button "verify integrity of game cache". -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8

Frostie I agree with you, but everytime I read "War ain't fair" I cannot help but to think "This ain't war" :P again, just a useless comment from my side, I agree with your statement -
Vincent, you can't say that you dedicate yourself to SP in DCS but then come around and comare it to a MP game, all of the above can be found in BlueFlag in some shape or form
-
And as mentioned on page one, try BlueFlag. The current setup might not be the best but they constantly change the mission and improve on the design of their multiplayer campaign. Pretty much everything that is described in the OP happens in BlueFlag one way or another.

Will we maybe get back CSAR for this round ?

I was making more of a general observation from my perspective across rounds 5-8, the time I have been a part of this event. I'm in no way saying that is the one and only factor, and it might be negligible as you suggest. The lack of high fidelity modules for Red in round 8 was probably the primary reason for the numbers disparity, I think everyone can agree on that. -

kobeshow replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I agree, but as organisers of a public pvp event that is maybe something the BuddySpike team could keep in mind. I have seen other events where there were all kinds of different colors and airframes pittet against each other, and that seemed to work out just fine. Especially with the future modules that are coming up, it will be very hard to justify sticking to NATO vs Warsaw Pact in my opinion, so it is worth discussing/thinking about. -

Greg, don't tell me, I don't care, but other people do care. When it comes to teamcolors I am basically a dog but it is a sad reality that people do identify and boost their ego with certain coalitions in computer games. That is all I was pointing out, it is also one of the reasons why we have a drought of players on red side during american prime time. -

kobeshow replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Yes it is very real, there are people who fly the mirage that refuse to play because it is now labeled as RED "Tell me that's a joke right ?... What the heck is currently happening ?! If things are defined like this, I'll probably pass that round 9, I mean it, I do find no interest at all in such scenerio, neither my squadron. I don't know what came up in admins mind with that initiative, I really don't get it. Moving the M2KC in the REDFOR was maybe the biggest move which makes me really doubt of BS realism fidelity." http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2878123&postcount=1187 -

Well I think that the additional scripts and AI on the map are not worth it, I always run out of missiles before I run out of fuel, sure it would be fun to have the option, but I am here since round 5 and would have needed it only once, and that only because no one bothered to show up on the farp I was flying CAP over ( friend or foe) -

I personally can't see a scenario where we would need AAR for blueflag -

Ciribob, great feature for the web based map, it would be nice if you could enforce a certain behaivor for players since you clearly have access to all the necessary information. Keep it up, BlueFlag seems to be evolving into somethiong that might actually force pubs to get their shit together (; -

Ok I'll give you a quick summary of the past discussions about the same topic since your "counter" is not lookiung them up. It is a problem with DCS mechanics that BS-team can do nothing about, they appealed to fair play and asked people not to do it, which I did because I actually thought everyone would fall in line (silly me I know, and I'm not even new to competitive computer gaming). Put the flanker at 0% fuel and the eagle will take off much faster, even more so if they take only bags as emergency loadout, that is what it comes down to every single time, BS-team set it up like it is to make refueling take roughly the same ammount of time for both fighters. The reason I don't type the exploit in here is because everyone is reading this, if you think I have nothing that is fine, you are superior in this argument and clearly I am the scrub and should be banned immediately -.- edit: keep editing your posts so I don't respond to all your points, I don't call people dumb, I know you got offended so I am sorry for that, I worded it agressively but there were no personal attacks whatsoever. -

The fuel amount in the aircraft has been discussed so many times that I was just very surprised to read a member of a squad that has been around for a couple of those discussions bringing it back up. You guys are all wearing the same tag, so I put all of you in one bag, ask your friend how to take of in an eagle faster. I did read the whole discussion, yes you calmed down and came to a conclusion, but before you post another complaint next time please have the same courtesy and take the time to find discussions about that subject and read those before you bring it up. -

2 RvE guys being very vocal about 20% fuel flankers, even having the audacity to ask why it is like that, you act like rookies. On top of that I watched one of your squad mates on twitch and encountered what I mentioned back on post #27 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2859444&postcount=27 and NOW on page 7X you come and complain about flanker fuel ? puuuuhhhhleeeeezzzzz .... -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8
kobeshow replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I would have to respectfully disagree. First of all in my opinion com discipline is one of the things I would like Redfor to put more of an emphasis on, when I read your post it is like we have been playing different campaigns (; Up to a certain number of players one channel is fine, but as soon as you start forming flights and assigning tasks to people you CAN'T all be in one channel without com clutter, it is impossible by default. If you rarely join up in a 2 man flight and find that it doesn't matter, that is fine, but for me and many others it is the other way around: I like to fly in a flight of at least 2, preferably 4, and I like to know that there are strikers/transport that I need to cover or help attack a FARP/Base which is already covered by CAP. This is achievable with TS only of course, but it didn't work in the past, that's why SRS was introduced in the first place. I know you like to just fly around casually and value the social aspect of TS, but you can have a similar expirience in a smaller flight package, and still get all the tactical info from GCI with SRS, without the clutter !
