DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Talisman_VR replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Just hope we get the basic option to set bomb delay timed fuses as per historical capability. Bombing is what this kite is about, so we need historical ability to set bomb delay timed fuses. Happy landings, Talisman -
Although my user name has successfully been changed from 56RAF_Talisman to Talisman_VR, my old user name continues to appear on MP servers when I join This is embarrassing for me as I would not want my poor performance as a PC pilot to reflect on my old squadron, lol. Some help in enabling my correct new user name to be displayed when I join a MP server would be greatly appreciated. Very sorry if I have missed something that I should have done my end. Thank you in anticipation. Happy landings, Talisman_VR

Very kind of you Bignewy Many thanks. One last thing though, I just noticed that when I post on the forum, underneath my user name my rank is also shown as my user name. No big deal though as perhaps my real rank should be just a humble erk. I was reading a book the other day and found out the reason for the term erk. Apparently, the RAF officers nick named the rankers erks because in working class dialect when they said the word aircraft it sounded like erkcraft, lol. Happy landings, Talisman

How do you all think the MIG-15 Performs?
Talisman_VR replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
Thanks Talisman -
Tried to change my user name from 56RAF_Talisman to new user name Talisman_VR (I have now left 56 Sqn RAF) but instead of changing my user name the system has given me Talisman_VR as rank! Please help me to be able to change my user name to Talisman_VR and not to have my user name as a rank. Thank you in anticipation. Talisman_VR

How do you all think the MIG-15 Performs?
Talisman_VR replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
I am in Europe too and feel similar in that I love the Mig-15, but Korea 1952 is the only server to go and mostly not many folks about. That is the reason I have not flown the Mig-15 for a very long time. Perhaps that will change in 2021 though. We are lucky to have the Korea 1952 server, but I wish there was more folks interested in Korea and the Mig vs Sabre match up. I might dust off the Mig-15 over the coming weeks to see how things are going. Happy landings, Talisman -
Please go back to old format. This new format is a complete mess! Old format not broke so why try to fix? Better things for team and developers to do in other areas that customers want I would have thought.

Nice try at some deflective script there, LOL, but the bottom line is that not all loadout options are controlled from the cockpit, so why not have the appropriate loadout options, including timed fuses for Allied aircraft, available in the loadout options drop down menu? As I say, the impression given to me is that the development team are not bothered and I think that is a great shame. Especially as lots of folks are eagerly awaiting the Mosquito and customers owning other Allied warbirds are being short changed in this respect and have been for some considerable amount of time. How much longer? Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman

LW have had delayed fuses for years, but the Allied side not allowed them. Speaks volumes and not so good if you are a customer for the Spit, P51, P47 and the upcoming Mosquito. Great if you own LW aircraft, but I don't as I am not a fan of those aircraft. I suggest that 'at this stage' we should have had historical delayed fuses for the Allied aircraft as well. The neglected detail and functionality of the Allied aircraft in this respect is disappointing, to day the least! Others may be content with this consistent capability deficit that we have put up with for years, for the Allied side only, but I find it less than impressive and rather odd as it gives the impression that the development team are not bothered. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman

Attention to detail for WW2 outputs appears to be lacking in general terms IMHO. No historic bomb timer delay fuses for Allied attack aircraft would appear to be another detail overlooked at the moment. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman

Steady on Phil. You are doing a great job and I want to support DCS WW2, but in trying to bring others along in greater numbers, folks used to historical bombing profiles using timed fuses are going to miss being able to do this. To not have historical timed fuses means a work around for historical bombing activity. Also, I could be wrong, but I think the LW have timed fuses available to them in DCS. Today, I hand over responsibility for my period of being squad CO to Boot, so will have more time to try out DCS now. I have been looking at the pros and cons of operating in DCS and the bomb fuse timer issue is one that has been raised for a number of years now on the forums, so I wanted to ask some folks who were up-to-date with DCS WW2 if there was any progress. I have not purchased anything from DCS for a long time because, frankly, I have been disappointed with the slow progress of WW2 and what I perceive as a lack of attention to detail for WW2 outputs. It is obviously not just me that sees the need for historical bomb timer fuses, it looks like folks who recently purchased the P47 see it too and it is ringing alarm bells with me that we might not get it for the Mosquito either. Thank you for your response and for the server. If I am to fly more DCS WW2, it means I will need to shift my commitment a little away from my normal squad flying activities on another title, which is a hard thing to contemplate after many years with a squad. There is not enough interest in DCS WW2 at the moment amongst my squad for us to regularly fly WW2, which I can easily understand under the circumstances. I hope this puts a wider perspective on things for you in terms of where I am coming from. The way I see it, if I am to be tempted to seriously fly DCS WW2 the way I would like to, I may need to look at joining or flying with a squad that does that. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman -

Hello folks. I usually fly other WW2 simulations, but am considering giving DCS WW2 a try, again. However, I have just seen a post from someone asking for bomb delay fuses in the P47 as a wish! So I thought I would ask on this thread if any of the Allied aircraft have historical bomb delay fuses available yet? Especially as the Mosquito is due at some point. I am looking for reasons to fire up DCS and do some WW2 flying, but if we still don't have historical timed bomb delay fuses for the Allied side then it is another reason to give it a miss I am afraid. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman -

Can't believe that they have still not delivered on WW2 delayed fuses yet! Surely they could have done it by now? We are still waiting for P51 and Spitfire bombs to have delayed fuses. Surely they can deliver historical delayed fuses soon, especially as the Mosquito is on the way now too. This is one of the reasons I have stopped purchasing stuff from DCS :( All the focus that is put on fancy sophisticated fast jet weapons, yet we can't get delayed fuses for WW2. Are you sure, still no delayed fuses? Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman

The map is already being developed. While it is still WIP is a good time to give and take on feedback and have food for thought. Not calling for another map, but a decluttered version of the map for aviation MP server pilots who don't want a walking/driving sight seeing simulator with low frame rates and have VR or low end PC's and don't want low frame rates and slide shows over towns and cities. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman
-
Perhaps a separate map version could be made available so that folks who would like to focus on aviation activity MP could have a map that was optimised for them, rather than having to make do with a map optimised for SP folks who would like the option to walk about and have lots of detail that make a map less viable for aviation MP and leading edge technology like VR. A Channel map optimised for aviation MP server activity, including VR, might be a good idea. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman
-
I have not purchased the Channel map, but as a VR headset user and multiplayer enthusiast (not interested in SP) I am unlikely to purchase this map if the fps performance for VR is reviewed as too low due to all the extra details that I don't think are needed for a combat flight simulation, like cafe's with table cloths and detailed back gardens for houses, etc. My interest is WWII, not modern fast jets, and I mostly fly other WWII combat flights sims, but I am watching DCS WWII and waiting to see if it will be a viable proposition for VR and MP in the future for me. So far I am rather worried that the Channel map visuals are not being prioritised and managed for WWII combat flight simulation optimisation. Detail is nice, but I would much rather see effort put in to ground detail on airfields (atmosphere) were we land and take off, rather than suburban areas and towns that we flash over at high speed. I am not convinced that the map makers themselves have a combat flight sim head on and I am worried that they are wasting valuable resources on peripherals. There have been recent improvements with DCS that might tempt me back as the combat flight simulation of choice for MP and VR, but the Channel map needs to be a joy in VR and be able to handle a high number of players on a MP server before I purchase much more from the DCS stable. Can you share your axis curves ?...
Talisman_VR replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Force feedback joy stick users check this thread out: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=277233 Big thank you to Yo-Yo for the golden nugget he gave when he provided the following advice: "The curvatures in pitch for FF is the worse case in attempts to approach to the full-size stick. Try to use Y-saturation it solves the problem. Or use not deep curvature." Fantastic! As a Microsoft Force Feedback joystick user I have now removed all curvature in pitch (and roll) and have set pitch Y-saturation to 50% (X-saturation for pitch remains at 100%). Bingo! All my DCS aircraft are now much improved :) My FF tune panel settings are Trimmer force 100 and Shake 50, with the swap axis box checked. My Spitfire, P51 and Mig-15 are all now much improved with these new settings for force feedback. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman -

Hello philstyle, Long time no speak. Hope all is well with you. I have been watching your good works in DCS on the forum and thought I might dip may toe back in to WWII DCS. I was excited to visit your MP server last night but I soon lost all enthusiasm when my force feedback seat (gametrix 908 jetseat) and supporting SimShaker for Aviators software would not work on your server :( I believe this is because you do not enable the 'allow player export' option for your server. So, I am writing to you with this small request that you consider enabling this option so that force feedback seat users can enjoy the DCS WII flight simulation to the full on your server. The force feedback seat is really great as a PC pilot can feel the piston beat of the engine through the aircraft, feel the undercarriage drag and coming up and down, feel the flaps, feel the ground bumps on take off and landings and feel the Spitfire wing washout in a hard turn and high angle of attack stalls coming on shuddering the aircraft too (and much else besides). There are 4 electric motors in the back and another 4 electric motors in the seat (total eight), which provide feedback that brings the aircraft alive. Together with a FF joystick and VR it makes a great flight simulation and I recommend it to you. The force feedback seat works great in other simulations like IL-2 GB and works without needing any server side action for MP servers, so not sure why DCS needs an option for this. Your server looks the best bet for WWII enthusiasts, but it is not worth me flying DCS or purchasing the Channel map or the up coming Mosquito if I cant use my force feedback seat :( I sincerely hope you can help us force feedback seat users out with this. Good luck and happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman -

"Sorry to say but there is nothing I can do about this. DCS does not export the RPM values. What SSA does, it reads the needles in the gauges. The gauge in the Spitfire only shows something if you increase the RPM above idle. There is currently no better solution for that until the developers provide better export capabilities... That is sad f4I0, but thank you very much for explaining the issue. I very much appreciated your reply. Good luck and happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman -

Great! Thank you very much for the piston beat airborne. Loving your good works :) I have tested the P51 and the Spitfire with the following feedback for the engine piston beat for you: 1. P51 Very good and all that I hoped for, especially with the engine piston beat on the ground too, even when the throttle is set to idle; 10 out of 10! :) 2. Spitfire, good but one problem. When the P51 starts up on the ground, the engine piston beat works great and even when the throttle is set to idle, the engine beat can be felt and the aircraft is alive! However, when I start the Spitfire engine and the throttle is at idle, there is no engine beat at all and it is as if the engine is not working; nothing is felt (dead). :( If I move the throttle forward to taxi the Spitfire then the engine beat can be felt and that is great. But the Spitfire does not come alive, like the P51, when the engine is started. Please could you provide engine piston beat for the Spitfire the same as the P51, so that the engine can be felt turning over when the throttle is set to idle. Thank you for your kind consideration. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman P.S. I had decided not to purchase the up coming DCS Mosquito when released because the Spitfire Merlin engine piston beat was not working, but now you have improved the engine piston beat I might well purchase the Mosquito when it is released because your SSA will bring it alive :)
