  2. Great job guys, organization was amazing and thanks to all brave participants! I watched a few matches and immediately noticed the high level and proficiency of the players...very good fights and plenty to showcase in terms of BFM once I start working on the AAR...I'll post a heads up here once it's published!
  3. After Action Report! http://sa-sim.com/grudge-match-series-round-2-after-action-report/ There is a countdown at the bottom of the page to allow some time for claiming stuff if anything...after that, the player rankings will be updated.

  6. F-5 team won 16 to 11 Detailed AAR will be posted soon.
  7. Following the success of the first F-5 Tiger vs MiG-21 Fishbed Grudge Match held a few weeks ago, team Ramsey is pleased to announce the second iteration of this exciting PvP event. The most glowing feature about this event is that once again, it will be live streamed on Twitch and commented by Ramsey himself! We will also have Dolphin in the house! Dolphin is a real life MiG-21 pilot and it will be very interesting to pick his brain and listen to his insight about the MiG-21 in DCS in particular! We are also very pleased to announce Leatherneck Simulations has officially joined our growing list of Sponsors & Partners, and is generously providing a free copy of the upcoming DCS: AJS-37 Viggen to EACH MEMBER of the winning team in Round 2, along with an additional copy to be awarded to the match MVP! You read correctly- the winners of Round 2 will be proud owners of the much anticipated DCS: Viggen by Leatherneck Simulations! Thank you Leatherneck Simulations! We are honored to have you on-board! The event is also co-sponsored by Maple Flag Missions who will be providing free T-shirts to the winners! The battle starts in a few minutes! One thing for sure it’s going to be a blast so if you’re free this evening, grab some popcorn and hit Twitch on the link below: https://www.twitch.tv/hooks_stream Join us on Teamspeak 3 if you're up for a chat: TEAMSPEAK IP: hookshangar.teamspeak3.com:9601 TEAMSPEAK PASSWORD: grudgematch02
  8. I think AI doesn't need to find you on the radar, it simply knows where you are at all times ans will lock you up as soon as possible. It also flies accurately but very predictably and you can use this to your advantage. Double tap, because it always tries to press and rarely extend away, usualy the second missile will hit if you fire within good parameters
  9. It's not 10 matches a day, it's 2 matches a day at most per team and this is not the first time SATAC is running. SA-Sim will post the brackets and the order of play as well just like last time. The order of play has always been flexible just like in Top Gun, stating the exact time of the first matches only then followed by next ones whenever the previous ones are done. So if it appears 2 is not possible time wise then we will reschedule. Other considerations that I'm planning to implement in the order of play is to avoid having teams hosting their own matches so all matches are played on neutral servers.
  10. There will be 5 servers normally, 3 from TAW, one from 51 and one from 104 so 5 matches can be kicked off at the same time. This edition is based on a bubble concept, meaning no RTB and only best of 3 rounds not best of 5 rounds. I think if the servers and players are ready on time, the schedule above won't be too optimistic. I don't think the event should span over too many weekends, people can not commit to more than a couple weekends in a row, 3 at most and even then, only those still winning would need to turn up if a 3rd weekend is needed. Catch up matches being organized on weekdays is a good idea though once again, expect many no shows as people work, so its always better to stick to the schedule as much as possible. I will work on the brackets after the 10th and will also liaise with hosts to post a finalized order of play.
  11. The quality of the box matters little. Success depends upon the man who sits in it. Manfred von Richthofen
  12. Guys, which squadron is going to come up with the traditional and funny 'Road to SATAC' video?:D Last time, our friends from the 373rd made an hilarious and excellent video back in 2013! Whos going to step up this time around :pilotfly: This is tradition! Check out 2013 edition, a courtesy from the 373 vfs! http://sa-sim.com/373rd-phoenix-vfs-road-to-satac-2013/
  13. Been a while since my last ride in a 25T but I do remember the nose tyre popping when braking vigorously, maybe not anymore?
  14. Hey Sweep, here is the plan: 17:30z check in 17:45z briefing ans set up 18:00z first of batch matches (5matches simultaneously on 5 different servers) 19:30z second batch of matches (5 matches again) 21:00z end of day 1 22:30z kick off of the F-5 vs MiG-21 Grudge Match round 2 (different event) A few teams may have to play two matches in a row depending on the schedule. As the kick off closes in I will publish a detailed order of play for the entire first weekend.
  15. A quick heads up guys: - Mission file is being finalized and will be posted soon for everyone to use and practice. Thanks to Frostie and Bushmanni. - Registration deadline has been set to September 10th. Brackets and order of play will be posted shortly after that. - Each team will be required to pit 6 pilots for each match. Failing to do so will end up with the team starting off the fight outnumbered. - To all lonewolves who have posted their applications, please get together and come up with a unified and confirmed list, which needs to be posted here along your team name, logo (optional), and team leader. The team leader would be the person to speak to if anything.
  16. I think one must realize when the turning fight is lost and hit the burners to build separation...of course easy to say than to do...don't you think Zerol could of exited that spiral earlier before it got too late...he could of maybe extended a mile away or so by accelerating first then sliced back into his opponent to reset the fight...SuperMutt would of given chase of course but he would of gotten delayed a bit by having to exit the spiral after Zerol...I think it depends on how much separation one can create with that extension and the high turn performance that must ensue to reset the angles before the opponent catches up...not to mention the cost on fuel with such a defensive move. One could also just knock it off and not re-engage after extending away or look for a wingman to save his butt...as they say 'live to fight another day' (not possible in that fight anyway as rtb was forbidden)
  17. Here is an example of both aircraft spiraling down to the deck. Its a 4 year old video back from maiden Top Gun championship (FC2) but principles are more or less the same. Watch Round 2 starting at 4mn and spiraling kicks off at 6:10 What is also standing out in my opinion is the great patience of both guys gentle with the stick and never getting to greedy even when the target was an inch away from the pipper, also the fight went pure nose-to-tail...
  18. I hate those down spirals, I know I have to float as long as possible because the first one hitting the deck will be running away like a rabbit - Im wondering if there is any escape window before its too late once you found yourself spiraling down with the bad guy? I assume one had to avoid getting into it in the first place...but sometimes greed/fear makes you take stupid decisions. Similar a bit to flat scissors but in this case, I know going vertical is a good answer instead of idling and hitting the breaks.
  19. Voting is closed now, thank you guys for taking the time to debate with your squadron mates and vote! here are the results: MiG-29 YES---->EDP71st + 373vFS + Dr.Goose (1/6) + 51st PVO + 104th Phoenix + TAW + SF Squadron + 08th squadron + 36° SV NO----> YES--->7.16 votes NO----> 0 votes DECISION---> YES M2KC YES---->EDP71st + 373vFS + 51st PVO + 104th Phoenix + TAW + SF Squadron + 08th squadron NO----> Dr.Goose (1/6) + 36° SV YES--->7 votes NO----> 1.16 votes DECISION---> YES Su-33 YES---->EDP71st - 373vFS + 104th Phoenix + TAW + SF Squadron + 08th squadron NO----> Dr.Goose (1/6) + 51st PVO + 36° SV YES--->6 votes NO----> 2.16 votes DECISION---> YES Thanks, Bush! Could you coordinate with Frostie please as he is working on the mission as well, I'm sure you'll be able to help each other and come up with the best version of it.
  20. Guys, you can discuss as much as you want but please at the end of the post do not forget to officially vote using this format Squadron name Mig29-----yes or no Su-33-----yes or no Mirage 2000-----yes or no Only one vote per squadron will be considered. Voting will close tonight. Registered lonewolves can also vote and I will sort out a unified vote for all of them based on the majority. Thanks
  21. If you're low on fuel, you can rtb and exit the bubble but you won't be able to enter back in again, any attempt will blow up the jet. The 5mn rule applies throughout the round. First team able to deny all bandits from entering the bubble for 5mn while having at least one of theirs inside the bubble wins. The potential exploit you described is possible, at least on paper but I think its hard to achieve. Its up to the team that controls the airspace to deny it to any enemy aircraft and thats the beauty of the CAP game. It's very tactical and this is the way it's meant to be. Landing on a road for a barbecue to save fuel will get my attention and firm answer, i don't think a trigger is needed in this case. Landings show on Tacview like the sun so it would br easily detectable :) Event will start at 1800z and we sill go through the first round matches, all running at the same time. We will have 5 available servers thanks to our awesome partners. Let's vote, who wants Su27 vs F15 only and who wants Mirage, MIG29 and su33 included. One vote per squadron please. Thanks Sweep, wasn't aware of that. Let's vote, who wants Su27 vs F15 only and who wants Mirage, MIG29 and su33 included. One vote per squadron please. Thanks Diego. Yes please, that would at least explore other Options and could turn out to be a day saver although I'm confident Frostir will nail it. Thanks Bush. To all please Let's vote, who wants Su27 vs F15 only and who wants Mirage, MIG29 and su33 included. One vote per squadron please.
  22. This match is going to be epic if the Bisons snatch a few seats in Team Fishbed again plus Stuge may well get some quality back up from SF fellas if they ever turn up :) Plus all the fellas who flew round 1 would also be in a great shape now that they've got a first taste of it  Can't wait!
  23. A reminder that big Squadrons can field up to 3 teams of 6 pilots each. However, a pilot must stick to the same team for the whole championship, therefore, it's advisable to have reserves for each team. A little update regarding how the bubble concept in SATAC will work: The team that is able to control the airspace for 5mn will be declared winner of the said round. Controling the airspace means having at least one aircraft inside the bubble for 5mn while keeping all enemy aircraft out of the bubble. After 5 mn of air supremacy, a trigger will kick in announcing that the airspace has been secured, clearing the winner for RTB so that the round can be officially collected. Whats the point? Simply to deny possible stalling and force competitors to focus on achieving air superiority over a disputed airspace, which is after all the essence of air to air and the main purpose of a fighter aircraft.
  24. @Rush and Gaanalma No AWACS guys. Available fighters are Su-27 MiG-29 F15 Mirage 2000 We wanted to add the Su-33 but teams must swap sides after each round for terrain based tactical matters plus the Su-33 is available to Russia only. Hence it won't be featured. Moreover, there is almost nothing an Su-33 does combat wise that the 27 can't do better.
