  1. Yup - just got my despatch notice from Amazon - Rift S be here tomorrow. Fuffed to chuck :)
  2. Here's the DPD page EU customers can use: https://www.dpd.com/lv_en/home/terms/delivery_terms/in_lithuania or https://www.dpd.com/tracking/(lang)/en/(track)/ I did some checking and it says 4 working days to England & Wales and 5 days to Scotland.
  3. I see the current throttle is now out of stock - so some were either not concerned about the improvements, needed the lower price or just didn't want to do without the detentes. Future stock should be the CM only. I've put the cash aside...
  4. Just got the despatch note this evening. Chuffed to rocks :D I'll report back when it arrives so anyone in the UK curious about delivery times will have something to go on for the current state of affairs. I'm happy to wait a while - if it takes a couple of weeks, that's fine.
  5. Yeah, mine has always said I should get it for release day - but when it does arrive, I'll be very careful unpacking and testing it so I can send it back in top nick if it doesn't meet expectations. That the main reason I ordered from Amazon instead of Oculus. As is just typical, I've a very busy week coming up and am away on Wednesday and Thursday, which is disappointing, but there ya go.
  6. Valve sent me an email - not a delivery date - telling me when the kit is expected to be avialable for me to buy and they will send an invoice, which must be paid within 7 days else the stuff goes back to stock. I'd have to go back and read the article mentioning the visual issues on the Reverb (though mura wasn't mentioned at all) - it was by a journo who had actually tried it - for half an hour, I think it was. I cleared my browsing history a day or two ago, so would have to look again via Google - which is how I found it in the first place. All in all, we can only act on currently available info (I tend to ignore speculation) from those who have had a go. In the case of the Index, that's no-one who can tell us anything, which is why I said I'd see what others think when they had theirs. I was initially going for Rift S and Quest only. Apparently the initial expected availability date for Index was before the date that was shown when I reserved mine - so I am thinking I missed the first expected stock - deliberately. This is good for me, because it will mean others will have their headsets before mine is available, and I will have a better idea of whether to shell out or cancel. At the end of the day, I have a Rift, and loads of software that I haven't even looked at yet, but am keen on trying, that should work well with the Rift S. Buying any other headset risks losing access to those and having wasted all that cash, if Oculus/FB decide at any time to pull the plug on available hacks to use Oculus Home (if they exist for the Reverb in the first place?), so I would need to keep the Rift as a minimum. Not to mention roomscale tracking, which I should keep with the S. I want to sell my Rift to soften the financial blow of getting a new headset. Any further negatives (such as graphics issues, rubbish controllers like those the Reverb will have, questionable tracking) only increase doubt that buying that headset would be a shrewd move. Based on these things, Reverb has looked less and less of an attractive proposition - to me. I'm not trying to tell anyone else what they should do - each person has their own expectations and priorities and decides based on their own agenda. I have a great dislike of people trying to tell other people what they should and shouldn't buy based on their own agenda, especially when "other people" is me! It's amazing how short posts saying the way I personally am going, invokes responses like that of Harlikuin, but then it seems to be the norm these days. I'm sure he'll have some response which he thinks is clever and witty and trying to put me down - but I couldn't care less, I won't be reading it :)
  7. Well you were jumping to conclusions and doing that to try and belittle me, so I have pretty much zero interest in explaining or further involvement - have a nice day.
  8. Well it does require a brain cell or two
  9. Someone should (and yes I'd do one myself if I knew wth I was doing in it)
  10. Welcome to the club! Was even that way for me with TrackIR - which is why I concentrate on pounding! You can hear my neck cracking above any sounds from the sim in VR. I reckon it needs a good oiling... :) For airborne awareness I use the mirrors. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
  11. I've been reading some pretty disturbing things about the Reverb's graphics in the last days - I highly doubt I will be having one. Still haven't discounted Index, though, but I will probably use the full 7 days to pay period to see what others report on it in DCSW - that's if anyone gets theirs in that time. Otherwise I'll just have to cancel that order and wait for the next stock if I want one. ***actually, I think others will have theirs long before mine is available - my estimated availablitiy is 31st August
  12. The one thing missing is a Combined Arms guide ;)
  13. Quick example for the A-10C (updated now):
  14. Oh yes! :) I'll let you know in a week.
  15. Just reporting back in the interim - I'm very pleased with the results of my testing so far. I never imagined it would be this much of a difference. Firstly, I've uninstalled Kegety's VR performance mod - the sim looks better without it and still performs very well. With that mod I was getting the 90fps of ATW and without it I'm getting 45fps with ASW at lower altitudes - but it's solid (and often jumps up) and easily good enough. Increased the PD to 1.3 (from 1.0) and switched on shadows using Flat only - which has always been good enough for me - increased the cockpit displays to 1024, the MSAA to x2 and the AF to x4. This is with 0 grass/clutter and trees, though. That doesn't get rid of all the trees, but there are a lot less. This will be the next thing I'll be increasing in tests. Settings screen attached. If anyone else is considering the RTX 2060 I'd say go for it. At the small price increase over a 1060, it's good value and much better performance.
  16. I see this quite often - but I completely disagree. I've never had issues reading the analogue gauges in any DCS aircraft, or the MFDs. My hardware has been at the lower end of the VR spec, too, though better now. I think it must be either set-up (i.e. Rift not positioned correctly) or poor eyesight. I use prescription lenses with mine, and I also know that a very small movement of the headset (usually up or down) can change the clarity of gauges a lot. Otherwise, I'm stumped why people are having issues with this. I only use zoom in the VC when I need a very precise setting or reading. To the OP, I'd say get the Rift S, too.
  17. ***Full FC3 profiles and diagrams added to download section! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305622/ Hi Chaps & Chapettes, I just finished my blank daigram for my T50CM2 Grip and as promised, here it is: I don't like using text boxes -firstly, because I rarely find them an appropriate size and they make it look more of a mess and secondly because I always use at least one modifier, so in my case each control always has at least 2 functions. I haven't received my T50 grip and base yet - but when it gets here and I've used it a while I may update the diagram. Hope you find it useful :) PS - of course, I will be attempting a similar diagram when the CM throttle is out - but that won't be until probably August (release in July, and if I'm able to get an order from the first batch) and is going to be very difficult anyway, due to the busy layout of the device. I'll likely do one for the throttle handles and a separate one for the panel, as I did with the X56. Open to suggestions as well - it's a learning thing. **forgot to mention - the lower grip button is shown in pink - that's cos I always use it as a pinky modifier, but you could label it easily, there's enough space.
  18. Here ya go guys - you can probably stop panicking... https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/543-throttle-upgrade-option/&do=findComment&comment=4268
  19. I'm sure they will seriously reconsider detentes due to the reaction of some in the community - but I really can't see them simply bringing back the 'old' version of them - they know any future detentes would have to perform better (it's why they took them out, after all - because it was not working well and not rugged enough).
  20. I think many people here are pretty much deluded and some of the comments and attitudes beggar belief.
  21. Well thanks - and aren't you a lucky boy! :smilewink: It doesn't matter which way we go - they will always mess it up! At least I get my T50CM2 stick & base hopefully soon - don't know how long it takes to get here, but I think I will enjoy doing the new profiles for it. Got to make some decent blank diagrams for the assignment cards first. I'll post some blank ones in this forum when I get them done, so anyone can use them. Might be a bit cramped, due to the amount of buttons available - no idea how I am going to make one for the throttle.
  22. I just went through my payment, refund and the new throttle costs. The T50CM throttle is going to cost about £400 - and that's assuming there aren't any sudden currency changes due to the mess that is Brexit, plus shipping. I just got £310 refunded, which softens the blow - but the cost of the CM over the current throttle adds up to over £100. That's a lot. I'm glad I only just worked it out, because had I known that, I would probably have stuck with my order of the current hardware. But when I look at the gorgeousness that is the CM, I just get very excited! Even with all that reconfigging that will need to be done on all my DCS profiles.
  23. Well, we could say that about many things - especially VR, for example. Point is, we know we are basically paying testers (though we do get a lot of bang for our buck), but we are still happy to shell out, so we know what we are getting into.
  24. GTX 1060 Photos immediately after removal a few days ago:
  25. I have updated my card a couple of times since I got my Rift and the old ones are sitting on my shelf - so if anyone wants one or other, send a pm and we'll sort something out. First is an MSI GTX1060 6GB - this runs 1.5.8 with the Rift quite easily and had no issues with it. With 2.5 and Kgety's mod I can easily do 45fps in low-level A/G combat and higher framerates at higher altitudes. No chugging or problems (this with an i5 4690k at 4.3GHz and 16GB DDR3 RAM). Second is a Gigabyte GTX970 OC 4GB. This was my first VR card and I used it in 1.5.8 with few issues - had upgraded to the 1060 before 2.5 came out, so can't say how well it would do on that, but I had an i5 2500k at 4.3GHz and 8GB DDR2 with that - so it's no slouch, but obviously is going to need low settings and either the mod or ED's new VR update to use in 2.5 I actually have the last rig described still going and am also willing to sell it complete as a VR rig. In fact, after my Rift S arrives, I might also be willing to sell the whole shebang to someone who wants to get into VR but doesn't have the money for all the required kit new (that's the PC - exact spec by pm - including VGA card and the Oculus Rift CV1 with 2 sensors and Touch). As long as my Rift S performs as expected, I'm happy to do this - so if you're interested, drop me a pm and we can sort it out. There's no rush on my side, so I'm happy to wait if you are. Otherwise looking for £130 for the 1060 and £100ono for the 970, plus P&P. I've also got a few GB of DDR3 RAM (incl 3x2GB Corsair matched modules) and some quality 1066 DDR2 if anyone wants a cheap RAM increase/upgrade. All in good condition and 100% working. Edit: Forgot - I also have a GTX760 like this one £50 plus postage would be fine for that.
