Very arrogant - especially looking at your join date. Perhaps you should take your own sarcasm and apply it to yourself? The thread is asking for an update and trying to get a list of the requested fixes together, so it's easier for the dev to answer (not that I expect one, but you never know). Maybe you should read it before slating it? Congrats to the posters who put paid to the other dissers. Unfortunately, I can't remember the last time I flew the MiG-21, despite being an indigogo backer and very excited about it then. I've given up on it, but if it got sorted I'd be in it most of the time.

** DCS AJS-37 Development Update + Manual RC1 Release **
Johnny Dioxin replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
When you read with my eyes you can say this again (but you won't) and it seems others aren't overly happy, either. Now please allow us grown-ups to sort it out, thank you. -
** DCS AJS-37 Development Update + Manual RC1 Release **
Johnny Dioxin replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
No, that's okay - thank you for the offer. Been thinking and seem to remember having a pdf editor knocking about somewhere - I may be able to change the font to something more easily legible and perhaps larger for me - or if not, export it to a document type where I can. I'm sure the formatting will go a bit pear-shaped, but I can live with that. As I said, I would like to learn to operate the aircraft. -
** DCS AJS-37 Development Update + Manual RC1 Release **
Johnny Dioxin replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I mentioned before about the typeface used in the manual, as did someone else. Nevertheless, I have tried to get on with it - but it's just awful to read. I never get through more than a couple of pages before I have to stop to avoid a headache. Why it couldn't be done in the typeface (font) that devs such as Eagle Dynamics use is a mystery to me. I bought the Viggen on day 1 and was quite excited about it, but have only done the basics with it up to now - start-up, take-off, navigation and landing - because I wanted to wait for the manual and learn everything else by the book. Learning from the manual is now not an option, so this will be the last Heatblur product I purchase, as there is no way to tell if future manuals will be the same. If the dev were to make or get someone to produce official tutorial videos (like the excellent ones Wags has done for the Ka-50 and A-10C) that would be a viable alternative, but otherwise, thanks but no thanks. -
In Flight Refueling. Dying of frustration.
Johnny Dioxin replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in AV-8B N/A
Don't keep going if you're getting frustrated. Have a break. Go and blow something up - have a round of ArmA or whatever else you play for a change - then try again later. In my experience, the more frustrated you get, the less likely you are to succeed. Talking of mindset - think positive, dude! :) I know it's easier said than done, but if you start out thinking you will fail, guess what? -
Looking for Insight on my VR FPS Numbers
Johnny Dioxin replied to TheThumper's topic in Virtual Reality
Some of us have seen an increase in framerates in VR after doing the nVidia firmware update. -
Don't get too carried away with ED working with the Captoglove devs to integrate it in a similar way as with the Warthog HOTAS - they were doing the same with the G940 (one of the reasons I bought it) and that didn't last long. If the captoglove doesn't live up to expectations it would be dropped like a hot coal - and understandbly so.

Personally, I'd love to fly any flavour of Su-25 as a full-fidelity module with clickable cockpit - and yes, I would rather fly it than the Hornet or such like. I regularly fly the Su-25A and T in DCS World because I like the aircraft and their systems (I like a challenge, which most modern western aircraft are not much of) and it pains me that I have to remember all of the assignments when flying in VR. Much easier to fly in VR, flicking switches instead of trying to remember which HOTAS button or key to press. imo it will never happen - but I won't be buying any more of the same stuff, or under-utilised terrains - regret buying the Hornet, now I know the F-16 is coming. In all hoinesty, I'm reaching the limit with this sim. Some nice, appropriate Russian aircraft would change that. I know there are some 3rd party ones in the pipeline, but I'll reserve judgement on those.

Any point in raising a support ticket with ED?
Johnny Dioxin replied to imacken's topic in Forum and Site Issues
No worries - I suspected that you would probably get a lot of messages but this thread was the perfect opportunity to give a nudge. :) -
Okay - just been testing: in DCS World 2.5 I am seeing a definite improvement in framerates - no question, and a big improvement in performance here. I use the Su-25T unguided rockets tutorial mission for performance testing. Previously, I was really struggling to even attain 45fps at any stage of this mission. I implemented Kegetys' VR mod and that got me a solid 45fps at all times (ASW doing a good job, too). After this firmware update I have a solid 90fps in normal flight (ATW) - it's unwavering. In the target area this drops to a solid 63fps. During very low level rocket attacks (with explosions, smoke etc all around) I'm getting 47fps as the lowest - quickly rising back to 63 as I pull up and away from the targets. In DCS World 1.5.8 the frames were pretty much the same for the tutorial mission - but for other missions are worse than in 2.5 - for the first time since its release, 2.5 is working far better than 1.5.8 in VR (just a shame about the poor gamma implementation in 2.5). 47fps on the ground and during take-off. Around 60fps in normal flight (at 1.5km msl) and dropping to 30-40fps during all attack phases. Back to 47 on egress and 58-61fps at altitude. All measured with the in-sim counter. I took a large number of screenshots confirming the framerates, if anyone wants to see them. So far, so good I'm using a stock GTX1060 6GB.

Support have responded to every message I have sent them. Moderators haven't though ;) -
I wish people would stop insulting developers - especially when they have no idea of how the module was made, what was available, what limitations are imposed, how much coding it involves - how big the team is - whatever. Unhappy? Do a better job or fly something else. Maybe you should have done more research before you bought it? Could have asked and someone was bound to check and tell you. And of course all these people who complain are also perfect at their own jobs (if they have one). Enough - either ask in a polite way if there is any chance this can be modelled, which is highly unlikely at this stage, but you never know - or just put up with it or fly something else. Thread unsubbed.

The batteries should last for many hours. So it's completely unnecessary for the devs to model any kind of drain from sitting there with it on and the engine not started. Who is going to sit there for a couple of days at their sim? I would rather the devs not waste their coding time simulating this kind of pedantary. I was a comms detachment commander with 24V batteries and they would easily operate the installation for hours without concern. If they hadn't, the army would have been buggered. So would the air force, for that matter.

Thanks - I saw it on the user files page but didn't download it as it says "Multiplayer mission". I know many MP missions can be flown SP - but many are unsuitable. Might be an idea to mention it's okay for SP on future uploads (when it's the case, of course).

I can't believe you went through all that troubleshooting! Please excuse my chuckling... I got the same with the black screen, but the first thing I did was start up Oculus Home on my desktop - seemed the logical thing to do, as that is what tells you if there's a problem, and sure enough, there was the firmware update notice right in front of me. I had been having nightmares of having to troubleshoot as you did (especially as my back is awful atm) but really - if there is ever something not right, always look in Home/Devices first. :) edit: oh and yes - the handling of this was very poor on Oculus' part.

I read someone saying that they could remove the VR cursor (the blue cross) by clicking the mousewheel. I tried this and it doesn't work - I thought it wasn't possible to remove the blue cursor yet, anyway. Anyone know anything about this?

Any of you guys finding that OTT isn't working since the firmware update? I know he was due to release a new version soon, but has suffered delays, but I'm thinking the firmware update may make his update useless. I hope not! Are the older methods of switching off ASW still relevant? (i.e. the registry hack)

Thank you - I'll remember it (but seriously - I struggle to travel within the UK, so very unlikely I'll be see overseas - at most I get 50km from Home, on a very good day). Actually, I was supposed to be hooking up with someone in Lincoln - but I didn't hear from him for a long time. Every time I fly online with another Brit, my first question is where he lives - in case it's possible to meet up. So far no luck, though.

It doesn't really matter, because I don't see anyone offering to do an OV-10. I do see someone looking into an O-2, though.

I have my phone alarm set for 19:00 daily to remind me to take my medication. I don't normally like the modern "ring tones" but for some reason this one has always appealed to me - and today I think I realise why. It's very similar to the Black Shark 1 theme - so close that I'm sure it is either the same tune, jazzed up a bit, or was inspired by it. I'm sure I can't upload it due to copyright etc, but I will see what it's called and look for it on the 'net. Small world - and this sim's reach is perhaps further than any of us imagined... (cue Outer Limits tune...) :D Edit: found it. Make up your own minds (wait until it gets into it - on the phone it doesn't start like it does in the vid)

BS2 Upgrade to Full Question

If this is correct, I'll stick with what I've got.
