I'm hoping I'll be able to use old Touch with Rift S - my Rift CV1 will remain installed, so I don't think it should be too much of an issue. I really enjoy archery games and I foresee a problem with the new touch when knocking arrows - I currently have my index finger right up to my cheek, with the new Touch that would put the round bar through my cheek! Don't want to use Touch for sims, though - I feel it lowers immersion.

I don't know why people are dissing Oculus and saying things such as they are not interested in furthering PCVR - didn't you guys see the interview recently? They want to concentrate on getting more poeple into VR before they start pushing out higher spec headsets, because 1) it's not financially viable with the numbers they would sell and 2) current consumer hardware would have a hard time achieving acceptable performance with it. I don't see why it's so hard to understand - they have confirmed Rift 2 for PC will be coming from Oculus - just not yet. I don't have a problem with that - Rift S will do for now - patience, Grasshopper!

I just watched the Tested review and have to say it looks very impressive - but converting from an Oculus set up is going to be too expensive, so I'll have to settle for a Rift S instead. If I didn't need a base and lighthouse, I would very likely have the Index for simming and keep using my Rift for roomscale - but it starts getting too expensive when you have to buy the extra bits. I'd probably have to upgrade to the 2060, too - which is currently just down as an option. I could get a Rift S and buy the RTX 2060 and still have spent less than getting the Index system alone. **having said that, I do like the headset shape - it's very much like a Rift, physically, so I may be able to use my VR interfaces and/or lenses with it, which would be a bonus, as I'd need new ones for the Rift S.

3 A-10C activations for 1 licence
Johnny Dioxin replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in Payment and Activation
That about sums up support these days. 'Bye now. -
Hi Guys As long as they were available, I have had both standalone A-10C (v1.1.1.1) and the DCS World current version A-10C installed at the same time. I have always had to use one single activation for the two (I actually run 4 right now, for different reasons). Today I reinstalled the standalone A-10C but was required to activate it, which I did (having already activated the DCs World one). After installing the v1.1.1.1 patch, I was required to activate yet again. Now I am able to use it without activating, at last. This has left me with a single activation. I know that I should get them back when I deactivate the license - but what's the betting that when I deactivate one - that is all I will get back (i.e. I will lose the activation for both standalone and DCS World). This can't be right - 3 activations used and get one single one back. Even using two and getting one back doesn't seem right, when it has never been the case in the past. For the curious - I have DCS World set up for VR and standalone in 2D with TrackIR - besides which, I still have a huge amount of missions for standalone that I've yet to fly. Same applies with Black Shark 1 and 2 (v1.1.1.1), which I also fly in 2D.

This part of the problem. As far as you are concerned, FC is "arcade". It's nothing of the sort. I fly both and enjoy both just as much (just for the record) but calling FC "arcade" is just ridiculous and seems to be an attempt to make different classes of player, with an insulting swipe at those flying FC (i.e. 'lower class' simmers). imho such talk is just childish and tbh I'm completely sick of it. Not just with DCS World, it's the same with other sims. "Mine's better/harder/requires more intelligence than yours". Here's some news for you - they are all games, for entertainment. I know that's really hard for those with large egoes to accept, but it's fact. Have a nice day.

The link has changed - please use the new one in the 1st post, which has been updated.

Thanks, Sven, I'll have a look at that in-sim and add it to the guide. Alles Gute zum N.J.

Problems with A/A AIM-9 MSL mode
Johnny Dioxin replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in Bugs and Problems
The mission name is under 'Training' for the F-5E -
Are there problems with this mission? It didn't seem to go like the description said when I flew it today. There was no locked on indication of any kind (I did several approaches, with the IL-76 directly in front of me and locked on the radar), but the description was saying to wait for the "LK ON" signal: Also, after I had decided to shoot anyway and hit the aircraft, it dove to low altitude to try and land at a nearby aerodrome, but when I was diving after it for another shot, I was constantly being bugged to "Stay at 25,000ft". In addition, the sidewinders didn't disappear off the wingtips. Couldn't have been due to unlimited weapons being enabled, because I couldn't use the radar after firing the second sidewinder. No track because it's a tutorial mission. Plenty of screenshots available, though.

You're welcome. I think Sven was thinking of another missile ;) This one is wire guided (ATGW) so no need for a laser - though I suppose it would help for range information and the missile could also have the guidance along the wire pointing it at a laser mark. Maybe he'll tell us?
-
I just followed the procedure as in the tutorial mission - laser wasn't mentioned

Just use the folder names I have used
-
Great. I was about to dive in with this big time as I haven't touched it since testing and doing voices - now I know to wait, so thanks for letting us know. I aim to do a full set of pictorial guides for the Mirage as well because it's a lovely plane to look at and it's great to have different systems to work with than the U.S. ones.
-
You're welcome :) Viviane & HOT3 kneeboard guide added to the SA342M Gazelle folder.
-
Just finished the pictorial guide - LINK Kneeboard files will be up soon. Done. Please note that the pictorial guide link has changed - the one given above has been updated.
-
That's good news! :)
-
I've had this since release, I think - but not flown it as yet. Will I be okay installing it to 1.5.8? I prefer to fly VR and 1.5.8 is performing far better with the Rift and my spec - just want to be sure I will get the right version of the campaign.

Way to Fix the Anti-Collision Light for Ka-50 and others...
Johnny Dioxin replied to JOKERACTS's topic in Bugs and Problems
Didn't they say they were doing a big update of the Ka-50 cockpit? Maybe it will include this. -
Moved the pictorial guide onto the kneeboard: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GpjGrFTJa84Xr6gJ7ZXT1FmAx5MmtafM Download and put the folder into C:\Users\****\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard Alternatively just download the pictures and put them into the FA-18C_hornet folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Bw4JSBKLWZQuROrOl8-qZV3dQKd3Xu__

I understood evrything! Honest... Well okay, captions are good :) I just hope my recommended page isn't filled with Spanish videos now ;)
-
Seems to me someone owes Iberian a bit of an apology. Really pleased about this - bought the C-101 on pre-release purchase day 1 and can't wait to get my hands on it. Of course, pictorial guides will be forthcoming just as fast as I can produce them! (assuming we get an updated manual at the same time as CC release) :)

missing info Low Resistance of Mi-8
Johnny Dioxin replied to edokg's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Deleted - irrelevant. -
I'll have to try this again. After buying on release, I was so frustrated trying to get Voice Attack to recognise me when all other voice recognition utes were fine, that I gave up. I think I will make a lot of effort first to get VA to understand what I'm saying - then install plug-ins. Had the Elite Dangerous plug-in for years and not been able to use it either :( But I feel a change coming on :)
