Well you can always return that as well - I'd go for it ;)

I'd ask Virpil not to be swayed by individual opinions and only consider changing items that are obviously important to a majority of customers (maybe do a poll after a certain amount have been delivered to see what people like and dislike about the product on the Virpil forums or by email, so the results aren't are not skewed by one particular user group's desires?).

Do you have a link to that post? I'm happy to have a check how it is on the CM v3 - or does it apply to all analogue inputs? I'll have a check later, anyway.

Okay, some more diagrams and profiles to share. I'm flying 90% Flaming Cliffs just now, as it uses more input controls than the DCS modules (assuming one uses the cockpit controls in the aircraft rather than keys) and therefore will let me learn my new HOTAS the quickest. This profile is meant for all FC3 aircraft - so it has a mixture from across the board. There are plenty of unassigned inputs, where controls can be added or moved as required. It uses my standard modifiers of pinky & perky and their usual colour coding. Please note that the stick diagram and profile have changed slightly - new image is posted above. Any questions - fire away :) Hope it's of use. I'll upload the profiles once I've finished inputting them for every FC3 aircraft. ***Updated 26-6-19 this is the final (HI) and covers all FC3 aircraft - edited to add aircraft specific functions ;) The profiles are attached, too (zip includes the diagrams).

I gave up on Voice Attack and VAICOM - for some reason I've not been able to get it to recognise me, after years of trying many times in DCS and Elite and desktop tests - spoken to the VA dev as well, but nothing doing. All others I've tried have worked just fine, so it's a shame and a mystery that this one doesn't for me. I have used extra controllers - MFDs and a UFC box - very convenient for VR as I have them mounted vertically in front of me and can easily feel where the correct button or switch is. I've also used analogue controllers in the past, such as rotary controls (potentiometers) for volume setting etc, and a trimming wheel all mounted on the desktop. Works well in VR. Now I have the T50 HOTAS, with a huge number of inputs, there's not much need for anything extra - though my memory is being stretched to its limits!

Don't forget that, in wartime, lots of mods are made to aircraft that in peacetime would be unthinkable. For example - in the Falklands: matra rocket pods strapped to Wessex helicopter undercarriage struts. Flare dispensers fitted to Harrier airbrakes! This stuff happens, so just because it hasn't happened in peacetime doesn't mean it isn't possible in war, or at all. As long as it's feasible...

I'm doing a new assignment diagram for the CM2 stick - a different type of layout, showing only the switches - will upload it as soon as it's finished. The point is to try and give more space for writing or printing the assignments, whilst knowing instantly which input is referred to. With this busy a stick, it's not as simple as other sticks, with around 36 inputs - not even considering modes or modifiers. EDIT: Here it is - not sure which I prefer, as yet:

Very impressed with the new CM throttle that arrived on Friday. I'm still busy programming it, but I will write a full review in a week or so, once I've had a chance to give it some air time. So far, it's :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Don't kid yourself - they do a roaring trade from Elite - probably far more so than here.

I think it's a perfectly reasonable price for two facepads. I've had my Rift since June 2016 and have always used aftermarket interfaces and covers/facepads. The prices are pretty similar across the board in my experience. The ones I've used, from VR Cover/Lens Labs, have been excellent - even if their first cover products were a bit of a let down, which lost them many sales due to gaining a poor rep. Always bad news when you are just starting a business venture, even if the later products are outstanding, such a thing can be hard to recover from.

Interestingly... we've had the VR Optimization since May
Johnny Dioxin replied to Nagilem's topic in Virtual Reality
You and me, both ;) Went from an addicted VR Pilot getting as much stick time as possible in 1.5.8 to leaving it for months at a time when 2.5 dropped (though I was still buying campaigns and the Hornet & F-16 cos it was always just a separation and never a divorce). With this optimisation, my Index on the horizon and my new VPC HOTAS I can see it going back to a full-time hobby. Vows will be renewed :) -
You're lucky - US of A is "in" these days, so all the procedures will be relevant to you, being a citizen yourself. Trying to find military procedures for other countries is like trying to find the proverbial needle... Even though I was a radio op - the RAF have their own rules and the Navy even more so.

Yup, that's it. Thanks

I was just browsing the Index page on Steam - £37 for an additional "Face Gasket"! Available from 31st July. In fact, I've just seen on the www site that this is for two of them - that's more like it! :D https://store.steampowered.com/app/1072820/Face_Gasket_for_Valve_Index_Headset__2_Pack/ edit: btw, I also read that the normal 30 day returns policy for Steam hardware is reduced to 14 days for the Index. That's long enough for a thorough test.

It's showing as not available.

Asus UK Warranty Period?
Johnny Dioxin replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Heard back from them earlier - so less than 24 hour response - very good. They've suggested the usual resetting the BIOS etc, but also some settings to adjust and see how it goes. Basically, the issue was warm starting - all I was getting was a small "dash" above left centre of the screen - no post, nada. Switch off at the mains for at least 30 seconds cleared it and restarting as normal. Take a few days to see if it's fixed or not. -
Asus UK Warranty Period?
Johnny Dioxin replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks! :) I wonder if they'll have any LGA 1150 boards left... PS - they've accepted the support request, at least, now to wait for their response. -
Here's a tip. if you didn't do this already - put the items you want on your wishlist. As soon as you can after the restock (best being on 10 minutes before it's due) click on the "Add all items to basket" button. Don't go to the shop page - just sit there on your wishlist page and refresh it. I did it this way on the last 3 restocks and got the items I wanted each time. Whether I was just lucky or whether preference is given to those with the item on their wishlist, I've no idea - but it seems to work well.

Seems my 2 year old Z97-P is starting to die. I've been trying to get info at Asus UK, but it's a far from straightforward site. Also asked the estore where I bought it (Scan) how long the Asus warranty is, but they just told me to go and ask Asus. How helpful. Any Brits out there know this? Want to know if it's still covered before I start individual component testing, or might as well just start saving for a complete new rig. These LGA 1150 mobos are becoming like rocking-horse manure to find. I can get a server mobo (Q87) but not convinced that would be best for simming. TiA

My Asus Z-97P giving up the ghost and they are getting hard to come by in the shops (at least new and/or non-silly priced ones are). If anyone in the UK has one for sale, or from an older PC before upgrading etc, I'd be interested in buying. Would prefer ATX but will consider other forms.

Have you guys seen these? We thought it would be a while before this sort of thing reached the consumer market - it isn't VR yet, but just look at what these AR "glasses" can do! Makes me wonder if spending $1000+ on a new headset this year is a wise move (though I'll still do it) Aaaand... those controllers are just The Bizznuss! When I saw them I thought "hmmmm" but no - watch the whole vid and join me in a massive WOW!! :v: This could, in theory, replace a joystick, with a little more work. In fact it could probably cover doing everything in the cockpit with your mitts - including stuff like actually closing a canopy! Probably all seen them, but I just watched them over breakfast this morning and was very impressed.

I don't think the image clarity will be that noticable over Rift S tbh. For me I want the FoV the Index will give me, in addition to the clarity over Gen 1. That isn't to say it's big - the point being, as I mentioned in another thread, with my 69mm IPD, the Rift S FoV was appalling - far worse than CV1, so the Index should fix that for me. Having a possible extra 10-30° over CV1 is just a bonus. That FoV in -S was the sole reason for sending it back. I'm fine with the FoV in CV1, but if we can have more at a reasonable price as far as price and required hardware is concerned, so much the better. I'm with you on Pimax, though - from the first vids I had my doubts and this year just confirms my choice - and I couldn't really care about not having that headset's FoV right now. It's the whole package that counts. If the Index comes out and bombs or has serious issues, I will simply not go through with the order and rebuy Quest, using ALVR/VD for sims and continue with CV1 as ness.

You're welcome - pleased they are of use

Heh heh - full-face bike helmet FoV will do me just fine :)

I've just been slavvering over the new rudder pedals, too. I'll definitely want some of these, but I am pretty sure the ones I want will be out of my price range (having already spent so much on the HOTAS), so I'll have to settle for the cheapest ones, but even they will be far superior to my Saitek Cessna pedals. https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/655-vpc-pre-orders-update/
