PDF Version of the Encyclopedia (weapons System)
PhoenixBvo replied to Heater's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi KAMOV, thanks. However, the links on the 127th Siberian Tiger site are partly broken. I can't get the "Helicopteres RUSSES" pdf and the "forces armee RUSSES" points to Sam Russe_Version 2.1.pdf instead of the other armed forces. Could you perhaps provide new links to those two docs? That would be very kind. The guides are really detailed, great work! -
Perhaps AWACS is not compatible, but what about other friendly A/C with radar? They should be broadcasting their data including hostile A/C. After all, it's in the manual:

See http://thommos.com/blogged/2007/12/cougar-u2nxt.html for a review. It cost me $344.63 USD to be precise :). Nowhere near $700. My opinion about it: simply the best. Even slightly better than my Warthog. The Warthog has some stiction and a tiny bit of play around the centre. These are fully absent with the U2NXT. Some complain about the swinging motion in the x-axis when you let it loose, but who does that in flight? Really top quality. Yeah, I like the rotaries on the Cougar as well, but the throttle "friction wheel" which is really a rotary functions quite satisfactory. Trimming using buttons works well enough (which is what I used the rotaries for).

~$30 I'd expect. Judging from the Black Shark manual. But I'd not be surprised if this one will be somewhat thicker and correspondingly more expensive.

Where can I order? Where can I order? Oh man, I just can't wait!

LOL!!!!:megalol: Yeah, probably the girlfriend won't like that one so much. Oh well, some sacrifice is to be expected if one want to be a genuine hot rod (uh shot)...

Mach 1 ? In a hog? Show me how!!!

Uhm Taipan, are you talking about me :) ? Cause I'm not selling my kitty. I've put her on the desk beside the Warthog and hooked her up to a second setup. Now I have a dual station at home! Great for recruiting and training friends...:music_whistling::smilewink:

8. Removed frame rate loss with firing GAU-8.

Great, thanks for the info. It's getting better all the time. So this means Black Shark will also be fixed as soon as the expected compatibility patch comes out? -
Examination of stopping distances. A/S hurts.
PhoenixBvo replied to BiPod's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The purpose is primarily for long landings, i.e. when you (for whatever reason) used up half the runway before touchdown. I agree that under normal conditions the problem is mostly non-existent. -

In order to increase weight on wheels quickly, raise your flaps as soon as you're rolling. Particularly at higher speed, this should make a big difference in the max achievable braking force. -
Your head has mass. Its "mounting" (i.e. your body) is not rigid (hopefully), so under changing acceleration (g-forces) the mounting will compress/bend to different degrees. This is modeled as a mass-spring-damper system in the simulation and results in head movement when the load factor (g-force) changes and with lateral acceleration (e.g. sideslipping flight). The option controls whether this model is active.

Yeah, I saw that too! I was all like, WTF! Really? AWESOME!! I can't wait to see it! Take a look at BS, it's in there already. Only thing is, the distant mountains started to "flicker" with it, so I disabled the feature. Hopefully that'll be fixed this time... -
Uhm leafer, may I ask, why no HOTAS for you (a senior forum member)? It doesn't have to be that expensive...

Btw, this appears to be (partly) broken in beta 4. Although the procedure works fine, I found that when stepping through the markpoints in the new flight plan they are all offset by the same amount INdependent of aquisition distance, bearing and azimuth and whether the targets were lased or not which appears to rule out TGP inaccuracies. So it appears a coordinate transformation error creeped in there which wasn't there in previous betas. I know I should report this including a track and post it on the beta forum. I'll try doing that when I get home.

One function I found really cool is the ability to build new flight plans from mark points with the CDU. It's useful for attacking a group of targets with JDAMs in one pass. Howto on youtube: and a short one only showing the results:

Plus you'd lose an activation if you don't deactivate the sim before.

Or use a compare tool like winmerge or beyondcompare. They allow you to quickly view differences between two textfiles and manually decide which ones make sense to copy to the newer file. Normally used in combination with source code versioning systems for solving conflicts, but also really handy for .lua files. I have used this method for copying settings to new versions all of ED's sims with 100% success. http://winmerge.org/downloads/ http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php

OK, got the message. I know a lot is happening and improving and I'm a very happy customer. The prospect of MP getting an update as part of ED's master plan is quite satisfactory for me. I'll be patient, promised :D. Just don't get behind the facts, is all I'm saying. People will want new MP features, they are good value multipliers.

Well, it isn't so easy. For TMS FWD Short to work you have to first point the TGP at your opponent. Which in many cases may not be trivial...

Yes, we're in a niche market. The large public playing consoles is not the target ED should be looking at, granted. But the general trend, in simulation as well, has been ever more toward online for years now. I think you guys would be missing out on a lot of potential customers by advertising DCS as an offline game. Emphasizing the active online community, squads, compatibility with BS and integrated server menu (not to mention integrated VoIP system working with the simulator radio system hint hint) will be appealing to many.
-
As I said: one shot, one kill. Maybe an appeal to ED to loosen up the AI targeting precision would be in order?

What about wind?
