Cibit, mate, that was sooo helpful! Despite having read a bit now that helped put it all together for me. I was initially embarrassed to discover my first mistake was forgetting to set up a switch for the radio...:megalol::doh: Now I can trigger my targets and flights while in the air in my Nevada multi-module training/touring mission I'm working on. Thanks again for taking the time to do that. :thumbup:

I just wanted to jump in hear to hijack this thread a little instead of starting a new one... I haven't used the radio much at all so far but plan on doing so soon as it's one of the last systems I'm trying to learn (after all, blowing stuff up is a lot more fun than talking to people on a radio. :) ) One question I have is are you able to communicate with the towers while in flight? I've noticed that when I'm starting up at an airfield, I can talk to the tower but as soon as I'm airborne the radio menu is unavailable. I'm assuming it's because I've done nothing with the radio dials and need to. I tried autostarting to see if that would make things different but it doesn't. I want to learn how to use this because of using a lua script that has menu radio options that I'd like to be able to use while flying. Thanks.

Running the updater or the game doesn't get it to start the update process. Makes me wonder if they are limiting it to different parts of the world in a rolling release...

Same here. I keep hearing of others having it but mine is quiet. I'm wondering if they are doing some sort of rolling update to different areas to prevent server overload?

I've updated and added to my originally tweaked version of jcbak's "Nellis Template" mission. I've been adding to all of the bases and therefore changed the name to "Nevada Template". I figure I'll just update and post it as the mood strikes me so that people can use and add to/subtract whatever they want. Hope some find it useful.:pilotfly: Nevada Template.miz

Blooze, these missions are for the open alpha, not the open beta. ;)

No such thing as a stupid question, except the one you don't ask! ;) It goes here: C:\Users\(Your User Name Here)\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\Missions\ Then you will see them in your game under missions and in the Mission Editor. Hope that helps.

Cowboy10uk, I can totally relate. I had the Huey for almost two years before I really tried her out and god was I hooked! I then bought the Mi-8, as my love for helos just got rekindled, and I have hardly ever flown her. Look at how I park in a Vegas parking lot! But after reading this thread I've promised myself to really try her out before the year's end. Thanks for motivating me!! (I just have to stop buying so many modules as I never have time to fly them all...)

Thanks. My plan, seeing as there are so few airfields, is to outfit all them and have various flights traveling to and fro from each with small amounts of men/vehicles moving about on each airfield. It will take me some time and a lot of tweaking to get things the way I like them but that's the plan as it stands. I'll keep posting my updated files to share for those that are interested in having an active base/world to start missions from. Hopefully, it won't be too resource intensive with what I'm planning... We'll see if it all falls apart when I'm done. LOL

jcbak, I hope you don't mind, but I tweaked your template a little to add some air and a little tiny bit of ground traffic and I also changed the static F-15's skins to the Nellis one. ;) I changed the time of day to morning and made the month September and added some clouds for a little atmosphere. I was wondering that myself. One flight I tried to "activate" them with my Huey: It didn't work...

jcbak, nice going! That's a great start for me to take off from. Just need to add some vehicle traffic, planes taking off/landing. She's starting to take shape! Thanks for posting this as I was just starting to do something along this line so you saved me some time. :thumbup:

Completely understood. I was only meaning that the developers and beta testers surely have made their own missions for themselves to test with and those are what I was suggesting/requesting be uploaded. I'm sure many of those people wouldn't want to share as they think they're not much or aren't good enough, I was just being lazy (part of my nature and because time is now in short supply) and was looking for a few short cuts to customize them to my liking. No worries, I see another thread where some have started to post some simple missions.

Yeah, not sure what is up with this module but I have the most problems of all modules with this particular one. Went to fly it after having everything installed and couldn't do a thing with it... :( Fortunately, I have plenty of other things to fly around in on the Nevada map!

I feel your pain. I started at 10am and finally got to have fun flying at 7pm... I warned the wife before she even got home, "I'm going to be busy, I love you but leave me alone!" :D Now who can sleep at a moment like this?!?
