  1. Possibly looking to narrow down the plane sets on the Open Beta and Stable installs of DCS - both now quite sizeable If I remove a module, presumably I can easily reinstate... ... but do I also lose my fight hours / stats on that aircraft? Or is the game save data held elsewhere?
  2. Flew the Dora for the first time in years (couldn’t master take off and landing when it came out ) the Dora really shows what a step change it is over the Anton - faster, more manoeuvrable, less prone to stalling
  3. Really, really good read... and given that the author developed the tactics for the SHAR provides real insight into the aircraft’s capabilities A must read for all the Harrier detractors on here
  4. 600-650...! In the Anton!!! Well you did say in a 45 degree dive I struggle to get it going that fast Anyway sounds like I need to pop up well before the target, give myself enough altitude to drop the bomb in a dive
  5. I’ve been flying the Anton in 2.7 and have been consistently managing straight and controlled take offs... Popped back into stable version and she’d keep straight, rotate ok at 250, then do the left wing drop stall that the 190 exhibits... and that’s even with trying to keep her flat to build up speed
  6. Anton turn performance... 1. Bank the aircraft 2. Watch the ASI bleed back to 300km/h 3. Shake, stall and roll over I’d be interested in everyone’s level speed comparisons between the Anton and Dora... Comments above suggest the Dora has seen some loss of performance compared to early versions of the module. OTOH the Anton seems to struggle to get over 500 km/h in level flight
  7. I find the Anton is the most stable gun platform out of the warbirds... ... and it packs quite a punch
  8. Specifically aiming and putting them on the target??? I’ve had a play with the level and dive bombing settings, but in reality as an intruder your arriving over the target at low level... kind of guess and drop
  9. Ive been caught out by the “English” cockpit versions though, as they also change the units from metric to imperial... and then all the rotation, stall, touchdown speeds etc in manuals and training mission don’t match up with the cockpit displays... better to learn each bird as it actually is
  10. Seems like I may have inadvertently overlooked the Viggen... Odd, as my “most desired” DCS modules would be a Tornado or Jaguar, having grown up watching the RAF’s low-level training in the UK
  11. Now, this bit does sound promising...
  12. Variable geometry wings, two crew.... Perfect skillset for F-111 or Tornado
  13. Not a module I own, but looking at a possible sale purchase... is it an easy aircraft to fly? How does the fast low level strike flight profile feel? Fun or too much going on???
  14. I picked up the Gazelle in the last sale (having tried in the free to fly period) as I wanted a light trainer helo Despite the dire warnings I found the Gazelle to be a lot of fun to fly... Yes she is very sensitive on the controls but there is good advice on here and on YT, especially on cyclic saturation My biggest weakness with the Gazelle is breaking it by going too fast... VNE VNE VNE Also tried the Huey and the Hip - bought the Hip in the sale as I will get the Hind, but really didn’t gel with Huey 12 months ago I’d been firmly set on not being interested in DCS rotary wing... but quite like the look of the Bo105 and would also be tempted by a Little Bird Push come to shove though, a Royal Navy Lynx would be a day one purchase
  15. Really??? This will be really important when we get the dynamic campaign engine - knocking bridges out should have exactly the effect you describe (with appropriate levels of logic for re-route, incl FEBA and other movement elements) Keep them down unless the OPFOR has an appropriate combat engineer unit available
  16. Based on the Dev Report: “Work has partially resumed on the code side of the Mudhen, but the 3D work is in its final stages” That feels like years rather than months... TBH neither the F-15E or the Apache really generate any enthusiasm for me... spent too long flying both in previous sims
  17. With the OP list, there would finally be a good reason to get the Lancaster in DCS... provided it was a 617 Lanc with SABS / Tallboy
  18. I’m assuming the physics, drop parameters, modelling and animations would be an absolute nightmare... Would also need some viable targets...! (which also comes back to the super accurate flak issue)
  19. Too much geo-political risk... I can fully understand why DCS want to keep a tight reign on map tools. Map of Moscow, Paris, London or DC, anyone...? No - might be tolerable in a civsim, but letting these tools loose in a combat sim is asking for trouble I kind of like the idea of generic map areas, but not sure how workable it would be in practice. I’ve built terrains in othersim map editors - geology, climate and agriculture / vegetation combine to give distinctive landscape character traits. These define the feel of an area and are essential to include and difficult to dial out
  20. Agreed, and quite divisive to pitch the F6F and 262 against each other... in an ideal world ED would do both - Hellcat on a timescale to fit WW2 Marianas and 262 on a slower burn with R&D in the background. I’d happily buy both, and an F4F / Martlet
  21. Even finding video with audio seems tricky... and if the Sabre works out, raise the stakes for a Peregrine...!
  22. Videos above make you realise that the Hellcat is just another 2-a-penny R-2800 mass production fighter...
  23. Yes, agree with the positive comments above... Nice little plane to fly around in, and to learn to fly properly - the training mission where the instructor pulls down the IFR hood was a real shock... but equally was amazing after flying on the instructor’s course and speed instructions to find yourself on the glide slope when the hood was pulled back up You do need to watch your speed for flaps deployment / destruction of using the English version cockpit... I hadn’t realised that the IAS had flipped from km/h to knots
