That Tiger scheme is absolutely stunning…!

Would also be good for WW2 Pacific

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
rkk01 replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
… and of course, the engines and props were not “handed” on British multi-engine aircraft I suspect that differential throttle control would be useful on the Mossie -
Ohh, absolutely…!
-
Some news, more images, or even a short vid would certainly capture attention…!
-
I suppose the point being… the Falklands terrain is pretty flat / low and featureless - and this will be reflected in the DEM data (and the texturing)
-
It looks like ED are using Cyprus for the recent Hind vids… must be pretty close…???

Wait for the next sale and pick up the Jug and the Spit for the price of one???

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion

Some interesting full rudder deflections going on there - in the first few seconds of the vid…! ETA - a few scraps of info would be very welcome -
It’s true to say that at that point I’m more focused on rudder and aileron inputs than looking at the ASI…! I’d certainly be looking to get 280 before starting to climb away, and even then only a very gentle climb Makes up for my imperfect aiming…!

The Kommandogerat (sp?) system on the German aircraft certainly reduces pilot workload… I’m prone to breaking the engine in the P-47 as you have to be on top of prop pitch and engine revs, especially when diving

I often fly with the 500kg bomb… The Anton will try to lift off earlier than us safe, and then drop the left wing into the ground - not sure if “correct”, but I try to use very slight forward stick pressure to keep her on the runway and building up speed before lifting clear ETA - I’d want the speed a lot higher than 200… 280 perhaps?
-
The two FW190s probably provide the easiest learning curve of the WW2 aircraft… (at least, that is what I have found) The Dora is the better for A2A, but perhaps trickier for take offs. The Anton makes an excellent A2G platform, but struggles against the AI opposition in A2A engagements.

G.91 will be an interesting addition to DCS… A Hawker Hunter would also be great

I’ve made terrains / maps in other sims… … there is no way anyone would take on a map project without getting a good DTM dataset to start with

Yes, getting rid of the bank and yank jet powered mindset is a big help… All of the warbirds benefit from being “guided” around the sky using all 3 axes / control surfaces. Decades of PC flying with short joysticks and jet / poorly modelled prop FMs had me stalling every turn. Despite the bad rep they have on this forum the little trainers (Yak, L-39, and yes the Gazelle) really taught me to fly more “gently”… full aileron deflection and then pulling the stick all the way back just makes the warbirds fall out of the sky

A progress update would be eagerly received

Don’t fly MP, but was getting a lot of engine failures after circa 10 mins of SP flight, and yes, not at max settings... Seemed to be linked to overheat, so I now fly the Dora with rad shutters open - except for combat in combat, I can fight one opponent within the engine life, but a second (red pawn) always seem to result in engine failure

I was alway amazed that the surviving dambusters Lancasters were broken up after the war.

Not sure why I missed the EF Typhoon... Euro consortium, of course Also, wasn’t aware that the F-35 was being UK assembled. I do recall that Westland were involved in the UK Apache fleet Back to the Mosquito, I have been quite shocked at how such a famous aircraft has dropped off people’s radar - especially on a site like this were we are all, presumably, aviation enthusiasts... I think (hope) that the thread is off target anyway - my understanding was that the helo, fast jet and WW2 dev teams were largely separate, so more work on Hind / Apache wouldn’t knock on to the Mosquito I did have a random thought re Corsair and Hellcat though... would ED permit an F4U release if they have an F6F in progress? First Pacific warbird to launch is likely to mop up a lot of sales

Maybe airshows.... Maybe because they’re faceless products from Corporate America Keeping away(ish) from politics, but isn’t there something underhand about wrapping everything up in Union Jacks and praising the MoD’s new jet??? The Jag, Harrier, Tornado, Hawk, Vulcan, were tangibly British products or collaborations. I don’t mean that from a jingoistic perspective - more that the British public had a much more real connection to the aircraft. With the Vulcan no longer flying I suspect National pride and National aeronautical interest now rests solely with the Red Arrows and the BBMF

Same here - Mossie = day 1 purchase... Apache = zero interest (too many hrs in Janes Longbow, before I got bored looking at green MFD screens) I can see that the “Mossie demographic” may be middle aged British males, brought up on a diet of WW2 movies and general Armed Forces legend - and that younger folks never had the opportunity to make that connection. As a young lad I was brought up on RAF Bomber Command and RN Fleet Destroyer stories by two relatives. The pilot flew Stirlings, Lancs and Mossies (probably right at the end of the war, still trying to research) His praise of the Mossie was utterly genuine. I think he must have survived several tours by then... Never talked about people, I guess better to blank out as so many lost, SO the Mossie represented a pretty good chance to survive. He clearly loved the Stirling for it handling but was terrified of the low altitude flight profile - flak, night fighters and Lancaster / Halifax bombs I alway got the impression that he respected the Lanc, but that maybe it was a tool of work, the meat grinder, the vehicle for so many lost colleagues There was one Mossie attribute that scared the hell out of him - the proximity of the props...!
-
I recently purchased 2 items from MFG which have transformed all of the warbirds, including the Spit and 109... - TM Warthog stick extension (fits my Cougar) - MFG Rudder pedals

Do we know if the DCS Mosquito is fitted with Merlin 25s???
-
When will it be released? I have been waiting for a long time

There’s no denying ED have spotted something on the model that they wanted to fix... ... but we don’t know if that equals throwing out a barebones warbird with big issues!!! IIRC either 9L or BN posted something along the lines of best / most complete / most engaging warbird release back when we first expected the Mossie. I have spent the delay time getting to grips with the other warbirds better and polishing my taildragger take offs and landings ETA - Oh, and I’ve still got this (wildly optimistic) hope that the 3D model rework is to implement a modular airframe “kit” that allows easy changeover to a B Mk IV, B Mk IX, FB Mk XVIII etc
