  1. Thanks mate, that explains a lot!
  2. I like this one as well. Would be nice to see it implemented at some point.
  3. Forget or chose to go along with it? You'd be surprised about the nature and number of pet peeves some people have about what constitutes realism and/or brakes their immersion. Rivet counters, texture mappers, circuit breaker switchers.......need i go on? And ever single one of them has a truly legitimate reason as to why the model isn't 100% "realistic" or "authentic". The question is, what HB as a development team is ready to dedicate their efforts to, in order to provide the most bang for buck F-14 experience, that will satisfy most quantifiable "checks" without getting lost in the details. This goes of aesthetic issues as well. Worn cockpit? "Clicky" cockpit? Afterburner plumes? Everyone and their grandmother has their own opinions on what these features should look like. And you can't please them all. So for me, a non-audiophile, the word of an SME is enough. If a person that fired the thing IRL says it's ok, i'll take their word. ....Just don't get me started on the flight model, or you'll witness the wrath of a truly fanatic FM engineer!
  4. Academically speaking, how much change in thrust would we be talking about here? 1000-2000pds? EDIT: and would the change be proportional in dry and wet thrust?
  5. Yeah, i use high shadows for in-cockpit and flat for terrain object shadows. I used the stay away from flat for the same reasons as you, but the Marianas are just too much of a performance impact for me and those 10FPS actually do matter when over the islands
  6. Extremely low, as in on final, my FPS drops to mid-high 30's. But i don't need that high frame-rate to land. Above 2-3000 feet, yeah, just above the forests, it drops to mid 40's at times. But generally it sticks around 50. EDIT: low terrain shadows give you better performance then flat?
  7. Ah, ok then, good to know.
  8. Thanks for settling this out @Naquaii!
  9. I am curious on the PD-STT sub 10NM launches. Would those go active as well?
  10. Same, no visible changes here. Yet i'm on the low end of the spectrum when hardware capabilities go. 1080p screen, NVidea 1060 with 6GB RAM, most settings on high. Visibility to high. Terrain shadows to flat since the Marianas came about.
  11. Does the missile reacquire during the SARH phase or during the ARH phase? Or both?
  12. A lot and a little. Depending on where in the flight envelope you are. And which of the variants. Right now the A model has issues going supersonic above angels 20, so...... a lot there. There should also be a change in the induced drag values at subsonic speeds, but not all will notice the change there, as the performance delta will require subtle control inputs and intimate knowledge of the flight model.
  13. Basically what @nighthawk2174 said on the kinetics and maneuverability. As for the ECCM, it's hard to say, as i don't think many of us here have the ability to quantify the differences between the old and new API CM rejection values. What will be made easier is comparison and calibration in relation to the AIM-120 B and C models for the AIM-54C, and with the Sparrows for the AIM-54A.
  14. Somehow this turned out to be the first thing i saw in my feed when i woke up this morning...... may he RIP, salute!
  15. Yikes! I was looking at the wrong place this entire time!!! Thanks mate! I owe you a beer!
  16. Are you sure on the 2nd part? I haven't done enough testing in controlled environment, but i can almost swear i've seen tracks of my shots eating chaff well outside pitbull range. Have there been any significant guidance changes in last couple of months?
  17. Not really a bug, but ever since ED changed the look of their page, i can no longer see, access or change my post signature, yet some people still say they can see it. Any help for this? Thanks in advance!
  18. As it's made by a completely different team, i don't find that to all that surprising. Artistic license and all that. I guess a lot of it is a matter of taste?
  19. Yep, they work in landing. Picture bellow, Zone 5 campaign, 2 v 2 mission.
  20. Weird, i just did the first 2 V 2 mission in Zone 5, and i STT-ed the southern bandit at 30 miles. No crash. Proceeded to merge with him, shot him down, managed to get shot by the northern bandit (my wingman couldn't keep up with him), i egressed east, waited for the fight to end, my wingman got shot down as well, we rendezvoused at India, headed back to base, both landed safely......no crash.
  21. I think they mean on the inside
  22. Nope. There was a recent GS video, he was on his own server, flew into a valley pursuing a bandit. This was all WVR BTW, the bandit was in front of him, then behind him, then who knows were. All inside a 5 mile bubble. This happens relatively often, at least on busy servers where a lot of the clients have widely different latencies.
  23. Is the DCS missile API capable of making the difference though? I mean, can a missile have different CM rejection when active and during mid-course data-link updates?
  24. They mentioned however, we'll get notified before this happens and as there hasn't really been any new, i doubt it'll be anytime soon.
  25. Perhaps some rough criteria then? Similar to what we have with the STT? Like a couple of options, maybe one being prioritize closest and the other being prioritize on closure rate?
