  7. Happened to me for the first time this weekend. I guess i don't crash that often (without being shot down previously), i was dogfighting a Viper on the Nevada map, realized i was about to kiss the desert, pulled hard, got my nose high and heard the aircraft screeching. And for a moment i thought i made it. Then the screeching sound repeated it self.....over and over again i was stuck with the same view. Then i realized DCS has crashed and i had to terminate the process manually.

  10. First and foremost, as you are new in it, avoid negative learning habits. My first tip to enforce positive learning would be: 1. NO CURVES on your stick. Especially not in the pitch. Depending on individual preferences, this might slow you learning curve a bit at first, especially for fine precision, but trust me, it's worth it in the end. 2. Explore and fully develop your muscle memory for the core of the envelope. Try to master basic aerobatics before going into tactical scenarios. Once you can confidently fly the plane up to 20 units of alpha, start learning the weapons and sensor systems. No need to venture to the extremes yet. Your primary goal should be turn coordination, angle of attack management, rolling under g's and rolling under high alpha and if you chose to go for the F-14A, engine, or better said, throttle management. I would say trim as well, but you seam to have that covered already (from that other post).

  12. Ah, i just thought HB may have decided to keep the on at all times if this was considered standard practice and thus simplify things weight and drag wise.
  13. But if the pallets were never removed: That would make sense. The earliest manuals i have read state as low as 37000+pds of empty weight for the F-14A. Compare that with 41000-42000 for the latter ones.

  16. ADDDENDUM: the NAVAIR states the the gross weight of a clean plane at 43600 for the B (my might be an older version), but with the sub pylons included. By sub pylons, they mean the palettes, right?
  17. Aye, i did the check as well. No weight added per missile. The heaviest in the AIM-45C and the others are lighter, but only their weight is added. Also, i tested this on the F-14A and they should be less then 41000lbs clean, while the one we have is 42600 or so. So, i can see how the pylon weight could be permanently attached to the plane. Anywhere from 1600 to 2500 lbs.

Here's an idea.... as people don't read or just chose to ignore the sticky about the F-14D not happening, why not merge all the requests, slap a top post over that thread that says "not happening" and then merge every new request in that thread. Honestly it's becoming not just irritating but also cluttering the threads with the same question over and over again

  22. My pleasure. I think this on HB side for now, at least the part with the RWR going silent after a while. I can't be sure though, we are yet to have a confirmation from an official dev or tester member.
