  1. Hey Hawkeye, that looks brilliant! Thanks to you and the modders working on the Mistral. Absolutely fantastic stuff! ( Quite looking forward to coming back from my hols now...shhhh don't tell the wife!!! )
  2. I would sooooo love an AH64 in DCS, especially if it was made by someone who really knew their helo's... such as Polychop. :music_whistling: Thanks for this one though, I will have to give it a go.
  3. Cool video, thanks for sharing. Looking good!
  4. Do you think? Here's a pic of my last build... :D
  5. Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was looking for. I did have visions of a soldering gun and sparks flying everywhere at one point so this comes as a great relief. Also thanks to Neil for your idea about pre-programing the channels. Cheers to all for your help!
  6. Thanks! Though the words "link up some rotary encoders" and then "easy" doesn't sound like two sets of words that I might necessarily put together. :helpsmilie: I will certainly give this a go, so thanks again, much appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I have used voice attack before. So will try to add some commands for the radios and nav aids to the profile I have. I was hoping to find an actual input device that "liked" inputting numbers like a rotary dial type of input. But the only ones I have found are the Saitek instrument panels. Which look good but are expensive and I would be paying a lot for something I'm hardly using all of the functions it has ( display panels )
  8. Hey all, I've recently been flying in VR ( Rift CV1 ) and am having a hard time trying to input the radio's/ADF's, etc in the cockpit of the gazelle ( though I suspect it would be just as hard on any aircraft.) I find the mouse clicking to select the numbers slow and frustrating. ( And hard to access in the Gazelle, being hidden behind the collective ). Could anyone recommend an input method/device they use which would work well in VR? Thanks!
  9. Just a quick aside about running things optimally... Is it better to have DCS on a completely separate drive, on the same drive as windows or with other games on a drive separate to the OS? Thanks!
  10. Many thanks for taking the time to explain this. Very useful. I have a new PC on order and hope to see more constantly higher FPS. As is though my experiences are mostly positive, VR is an amazing addition to the flight sim genre and I look forward to the future!
  11. It shouldn't be that. Are you looking directly at the panel or glancing at it? As I have found that the lenses certainly have a "sweet spot" which means I have to look pretty much straight ahead to get a clear view through them. If I look through the lower part of the lens it becomes distorted. There is also probably a chance that some panels look better than others. I have noticed some aircraft panels are clearer than others and even some parts of the same panel are clearer than other parts ( dials etc ).
  12. Ah,OK. Thanks will try and have a play with it. Still as is, it makes it much easier to use the in cockpit controls.
  13. @MacThai Glad to help. If anything doesn't make sense just let us know and I will do my best to try and explain things a bit clearer ( I'm certainly no expert though so Purgh or persons more in the know could hopefully be more helpful! )
  14. @Purg, Having set up my controls as per how you describe, everything is working great except the forward scroll and backward scroll buttons. They work but only incrementally ( i.e I have to keep clicking to increase the value rather than just hold the button down ) Is there a way of getting the value to increase without having to keep clciking? BTW Thanks very much for your suggestion to use this function, it works a treat!
  15. I'm afriad I can't really help with the VA profile side of things ( as Im not using this as yet ) I have just got the "center mouse" function to allow me to use the mouse better. Here is what I did to get this part set up: Assign a joystick to VA: 1: Download the latetst VA software. 2: Click on the "Spanner" icon. 3: Under the "General" tab click on the box "Joystick Options". 4: If no joysticks are listed - click the + icon next to the picture of a joystick, this will give you an drop down list of available devices. 5: Select the device you want to use ( i.e Throttle - HOTAS Warthog ), click "OK". 6: Click OK at the bottom of the page and "OK" again to close out the options page. Then create or import a profile: 1: With VA started click on the + button at the top ( next to the icon of the pen and pad ) 2: Click on either "Create new profile" or "import profile" if you have one. ( I'm using a A-10C profile I donwloaded some time ago. 3: If its a new profile - Name it "DCS Profile" or some such description. 4: Click on "New Command" 5: Clear the "When I say" check box and click in "When I press button" 6: Then simply click the joystick button you want to assign to center your view ( in my case my hog throttles mic button). 7: It should change from "Not Set" to Joystick 1 : Button 2 8: If it doesnt accept it hit the circular arrow button to the right of joystick. 9: Click OK 10: Below the "This command is executed : When I press a button" section is the "When this command executes, do the following sequence:" 11: Click on the "Mouse" box. 12: Click on "move" 13: Under the "Mouse movement relates to:" Highlight " Move to specific location" and find in the drop down "Cursor Screen Centre" 14: Click "OK" And that should be it! Everytime you clcik the mic button ( or whatever button you select ) the cursor will recenter itself to the center of your screen. You then just need to select the joystick buttons to assign the mouse commands ( Left click, right click, etc ) as mentioned in Purg's post. ( P.S If the cursor disappears just hit one of your "mouse" buttons to get it back on screen, then hit the recenter button ) Hope that makes sense and helps!
  16. Hi, Would you mind describing how you set this up in VA? I have it but havent used it in ages, I've just tried to find this in settings but have failed miserably :( **EDIT** Cancel cancel, I worked it out! Huhzza!
  17. You know thats almost a riddle. LOL Its a good job we all know that the former relate to a completely different item than the latter ones do!!! :D
  18. Hey there, thanks for that. I'm not getting anywhere near that on either 1.5.4 or 2. Though i'm about to upgrade my system, so am hoping to see some improvements. Could you give us your PC specs and in-game setting please? Cheers
  19. Thank you! Completely missed that 1. Now it all makes sense
  20. I have ( through more luck than judgement ) worked out how to activate the guns and rockets, but are there any instructions/ expalantion as to what the controls actually mean and do? ( Or have I missed them??? ) Thanks!
  21. Looking great! Roie, could I ask what FPS you get using the Rift?
  22. Sounds like a very similar problem I posted about in the Gazelle section... It is apparently down to the mission settings. This will override your setting in options unfortunately. So if your joining someone else server and they have tool tips on in the mission parameters then so will you! Oh yes, I can only see a blank grey map as well in VR.
  23. Many thanks for the clarification.
  24. Thanks, glad it wasn't just me. I have seen others report this on other modules just to be told "turn it off in options" so didnt know if if was a localised problem ( Just the Gazelle ) or not. I will have to load up an ED plane and see if it still comes up. If it does I will raise it in the general forums, if it just effects addons I guess will leave it here? **EDIT** Mystery solved... the tool tips only appear in the tutorial mode. If I'm in the mission editor or a caned mission they dont appear.
