  1. Going back to how you know when your wheels have come off the ground. I wonder if using a "sim seat" solution would help? As you should actually feel the difference from ground rumble to the airborne state and could correct accordingly.
  2. You Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! Many thanks.
  3. I'm in exactly the same boat and am trying to find a long molex to sata cable. Could you say how long a cable did you find and from where please?
  4. ... for you. @Bart If you display your fps and look to see if they are capped at 45. If they go higher you know its off.
  5. Yep ASW is awful with DCS. Also effects the gun sight making it blurred on the Spit, best avoided.
  6. Thanks for posting this. I'm away from home till the weekend but will be sure to check this out when I get back!
  7. OK I wont bang on too much about how great it is (...it is BTW) I would just say this. I used to have a triple screen display with TIR, even had a fourth touch screen monitor working at one point with HELIOS. Doesn't compare in the slightest to the feeling of VR and I would never go back to flying without it now. A cousin (who is also a keen virtual pilot) kept telling me "I'm hanging on as I don't want to be an early adopter...the resolution isn't good enough at the moment...etc, etc" He came over for new year and had a go on mine his words were "This is astonishing" among other ooohs and argghhhhs. He ordered one the next day.
  8. Just wanted to add my thanks for spending the time to explain this. I have had many a "oh so that's why it did that" after reading your essays. Tail draggers are a complete new experience to me so your instruction has been invaluable!
  9. + another 1! I also find the zoom function unnatural and uncomfortable to use.
  10. Very strong opinions you have there, I have to ask... have you actually tried flying DCS in VR? Because your points seem way off of the reality ( no pun intended...) of using it. People are different, so I can't say how it makes you feel, but for me, I don't get nauseous flying now. I did a bit to start, but then upgraded my PC. I also found other types of games more motion sickness inducing, like driving games. VR gives great depth perception and as others have said, I really couldn't go back to 2d monitors now ( and just for the record, I used to fly with a multi screen setup ) and that plus a touch screen monitor using HELIOS, etc still doesn't even come close to the feeling VR gives.
  11. I had the same issue with the gun sight. Hitting Ctrl1 did work for me. I do recall that a few builds ago Ctrl1 didn't work for me...now it does, strange!
  12. CV1 here. Disabling ASW ( Ctrl 1 ) did the trick for me as well.
  13. Go to settings / UI layer Then under "Action" find "As left mouse". Then assign which button you want on your joystick to that function, same with "As right mouse" and "move scroll wheel forward/back" functions.
  14. Do you press Lctl and num pad 1 while in game? I'm trying to turn mine off but not having any luck ( either pressing in or out of game ).
  15. Its Wags ( The producer at ED - Matt Wagner )
  16. As minimi66 describes, thats how I do it ( I actually prefer clicking by looking ) I also use a function of voiceattack that recenters the view cursor. One thing also to note, as of the last build where ED have intorduced clickable menus. This function is unfortuantely seprate to the "aiming cursor" so you get the blue cross for cockpit clicking as well as a white dot which you use to click the menus. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.
  17. Hmmm, that might be true as early access is hopefully ready by Dec 16th, though hopefully they have a couple more vids up their sleeves so can throw us a few more titbits before then.
  18. Nice work! My only question is... whens part 2?
  19. Ah, one problem solved...another discovered! The cursor is indeed working ( using the Hawk BTW ) however Im using it in VR and the VR cursor is different to the mouse cursor! Usually when I bring up the on screen cursor I get a blue cross, this I can use to point at various buttons, etc and use it with a key assigned to my stick. If I move my mouse this cursor also moves freely and I can of course click buttons using the mouse. Now when I bring up the coms menu I still have this blue cross, but if I move it over to the coms menu it doesnt do anything. However, a white dot apears which is now moveable only by my mouse. This clicks on the coms menu and works as expected. Is this a known limitation or is there any work around? Thanks! **EDIT** The two cursors are somewhat connected. If I move my head the blue cursor moves but the white dot stays still. If I move the white cursor with my mouse the blue cursor moves as well. They are positioned as below: + .
  20. In the patch notes it has the following: "Added clickable radio-menu" Do we need to set this up in some way? As I went into the coms menu and it certainly wasn't clickable for me. I understand that there is a mod available but before I download it I wanted to check if this has been implemented into the main game.
  21. Are you guys running just Black Sea? As the map does work in Nevada. ( I think it was in the last build as a fix ) @SageOT, thx for the suggestion, will try that out in the kneepad builder and see how get on. Cheers.
  22. Sorry, should have made myself a bit clearer. I meant in cockpit, so you can still actually see instruments etc. Like the kneeboard, just a map thats in a better res.
  23. Hey all, Any thoughts on what is the best way to get a "readable" map when flying in VR? I have been using the knee pad builder to get checklist, etc. However the maps are very hard to read. Has anyone found a good way to pull up a map which you can use to navigate with? Thanks!
  24. Thanks for the link. Looks interesting. I would love to see something that allows cockpit interaction, using my hand to "click & switch" the controls rather than bringing up the cursor that hovers over them ( which of course uses another joystick button to actuaute it ). There seems a couple of these types of interfaces in development at the moment. The key thing will be how easy ( if even possible )they will be to integrate into DCS. I would certainly be interested in getting such a device IF it achieves this smoothly.
  25. Just to echo the many, thankyou for these truly wonderful guides Chuck! I have recently got back into DCS and am also a VR convert ( Truly a match made in heaven ). I have flown a bit in the Gazelle but have been drawn back to the Huey... BIG difference in how they fly! But I'm getting used to it and have just started in earnest in learning the startup and basic flight. ( Thanks mostly to your guide!!! ) @Cibit I would like to do some multi player stuff at some point ( when I feel I wont be more hinderance than asset ) so if you have any extra cpacity please give us a shout. ( The main draw back with VR is having to keep taking it off to read the manual! LOL )
