  1. Crashing bug reappears. I made a mission to practice defense against missiles by using Tors and Tunguskas. If my vehicle is destroyed while I'm in radar view of a Tor, game immediately crashes. When I'm in outside or regular view at the moment of destruction, game keeps running.
  2. Just to add: T-72 laser adjusts cannon elevation for AP rounds only if the target is closer than 3500 m. For HE it does that until maximum laser range, ie. 4000 m. Or even more.
  3. Yugoslavia received 133 P-47D-40RA which were used from 1952 until 1961. Peru used P-47s until 1963.
  4. Agree that damage models need improvement, both for ground units and ships. However, ships can be quite resilient, as seen here: https://youtu.be/xa5KqLGvXsw Although, the ship in question didn't have ammo, fuel and other combustibles. The first sinking of battleships with planes, by Billy Mitchell had shown that near misses are the most effective way to do it. Needless to say, it is not modeled in DCS. Or in any other game for that matter, as far as I'm aware of.
  5. For illustration how it looks like in Il-2 Sturmovik 1946: Each axis is set, configured and filtered independently. I must repeat, it works just great. :smilewink:
  6. Some joysticks have that functionality built in. I asked for the same thing some time ago: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143510 Potentiometer spiking (jittering, noise) is far more pronounced on my throttle (X52 Pro) and some of my joysticks. Imagine your entire view zooming in/out several times per second for 5 %. Or more. Generally, even some brand new, brand name joysticks/HOTAS configurations have potentiometers of dramatically lower quality than 10 years ago. Even brand new, out of the box, they have serious issues, like seen here: https://youtu.be/OkliSUIqgAY Having many years of experience with simulators (I own a bunch ;) ), joysticks, and amateur electronics/joystick repairs, I can only say: Appalling. On the plus side for asking for that functionality, I would just add that a legendary Il-2 Sturmovik has that functionality built in since original release (2001) or at least since Il-2 FB (2003). I've been playing Il-2 since 2001 and axis filtering there works like a charm, with no tax on PC performance, control and with just a minor lag on maximum filtering setting. I've been using third party filtering software for the last year, but it doesn't work on my current operating system. So, I would really like ED to implement that feature as standard.
  7. Same here. It seems that individual trees are drawn properly, but forests are drawn as cubes/rectangles.
  8. This issue lingers for quite some time. I tried changing key assignments, but briefing is not working in CA.
  9. Completely agree. CA provides you with different pace and on several occasions on HolloPointe, coordination and swiftness of combined ground and air assaults was just amazing. Further development of Combined Arms, together with its integration with aircraft modules and inclusion in carefully crafted online missions has the potential of making DCS much more involving and interesting.
  10. Unfortunately, I have no clouds on Abris. Deal with AAA? Stay far away and use Vikhrs. Also, you can kill most of AAA with Ka-50's 30mm gun. Most AAA engage at 3 or less kilometers away. From 3 km distance you can engage AAA with gun easily. Use HE shells for ground or truck mounted ZU-23 and AP shells for Shilkas. Stay far away from and use Vikhrs for Tunguskas.
  11. As everybody else said. Pushed her too hard. If you go over the speed limit, that would happen. If you fly fast, above say 270 kmh, you should be especially gentle with cyclic and rather lower collective than increase it, but also gently. Since it's a game, you can freely test the maximum flight/control envelope and learn what she can do, and what you shouldn't do. Ka-50 is an awesome bird, but it has her limitations. Just fly, enjoy and experiment. And never give up ;) . BTW, in level flight I usually fly at 302 or more kmh. Anny sudden change in pitch (or too big pitch) or collective at that speed causes instantaneous rotor collision and a back pain caused by an immediate ejection ;) .
  12. At these distances, you wouldn't get Launch authorization. Too far away. Also, your laser would be burning (getting hotter) for longer, which would require you to change helicopter sooner than usual, because your laser would fail sooner. Since you cannot get LA at these distances, you should switch to manual mode. "A" key is I believe a default. Or switch a switch in cockpit. For distances above 9 km, aim higher, ie. above the target. It is almost impossible for Vikhr to reach anything beyond 10 km. For instance, if a target is at 8.5 k away, aim directly at it, or to the turret and you'll get a hit. At 9.5 km, aim two heights of a target above it, depending on your altitude, and you will get a hit with second or a third missile. Experiment. Manual mode is nice if you have to kill a nasty Tor or something ;) .

    Help

Just fiddle with settings. A-10C and Ka-50 have arcade mode, and I truly recomend those modules for purchase. For a helicopter, that is a really nice practice to get you familiar a bit with physics of flying. For TF-51 you have some extra options in settings to make your life easier at the beginning. Su-25T used to be a part of Flaming Cliffs and is essentially modeled the same as all FC3 planes. Quite simplified, compared to stand-alone "hardcore" simulator modules, but it has an excellent flight and ground handling model, and she's very rewarding if you're interested in ground-pounding, either that would be close air support, ground attack, pinpoint strike or SEAD (the easiest, in my opinion; btw, currently she is the only truly SEAD capable human controlled plane). You have a plethora of tutorials, written, illustrated or youtube video for most things that you can think of or require. Just watch and rehearse later weapon employment of a Su-25T and you'll be hooked ;) .
  14. Nice! :) Those "2 weeks" represented, in мy experience, the most thrilling flight sim days. Thank you for your tutorials and effort you put in to make sims easier and funnier to players. ~S~
  15. E-mail sent. Count me in.
  16. Curvature settings, ie. control response depend on joystick type, game and player's preferences. In years, I've tried many people's settings to finally settle on my own. For each and every simulator I play. And plane, also. Just try, experiment and see what suits you best.
  17. I am aware that I have under the specs PC, but I had a lot of symptoms described here. And still do, although I did some pretty drastic things to make game playable, ie. to use less RAM. For instance, this evening's online session showed usage of video memory of only 3700-3900 MB, and I had big stutters and freezes. Before, it would manifest such problems only when video memory usage was above say 6000-8000 MB. Will try reduced visibility settings. BTW, game still draws invisible/distant objects, which is a big performance killer, at least for my PC. I sincerely hoped that new engine, EDGE, would deal with that.
  18. Impressive reduction in processes and services. Actually, that part of my post was related only to Tonike's problem, with a strange symptom of low VRAM and RAM usage.
  19. Yeah, I noticed the same term and texture files  . It's actually grass, if I remember correctly.
  20. Based on my experience with DCS, visibility options have little to do with this issue. I tried every possible settings combination, to no avail online. Once you look towards air or ground units 100 km away, framerate drops. Even if you look through a hangar wall, or with visibility settings set to low, or even with manually edited files, or reduced or increased preload radius. To extent worse when there is launching/firing.
  21. Essentially related to this and many other forum topics - I would really like ED to cap triangle count and texture size for new planes and objects. Based on my many years of being part of sim comunity, I am certain it would've resolved vast number of issues players are experiencing.
  22. Airbase wise - insufficient video memory (VRAM+RAM+HDD/SSD space). Lower graphics settings - texture quality first, game resolution second. Or, budget permitting, purchase better hardware (graphics card with more VRAM and higher memory bandwidth, more RAM, SSD, in that order). MiG-21 wise - all above plus too many triangles. Probably.
  23. Att also Ramsay and msalama: Tonike, you have a really strange problem. As I've posted on Youtube, it is really strange your video memory (both VRAM and RAM) usage is low. I fly DCS on an old PC (AMD Phenom II X4 955BE, underclocked from 3200 to 2600 MHz, ATI 1GB graphics card and 4GB RAM, and an old HDD on W7 64). For quite some time, I've been having problems with low FPS and stutters. Or, to be more precise, game freezes (stutters lasting for up to 30 seconds or a minute). And it usually happens when I'm moving my head for a look at a hangar wall (yeah!) or when zooming in at ground or when Su-27 or F-15 pops up close by and I try to engage in dogfight (because of a stutter/pause, I usually lose visual contact and occasionally get killed afterwards... :| ). With each new edition of DCS, performance dropped (except 1.5, which stayed similar or is better than previous, non-EDGE version). There was a memory leak in DCS 1.5 which caused problems like those described and even much worse earlier. Insufficient video memory RAM (total video memory used by DCS, which is actually VRAM+RAM+HDD/SSD space) is the most usual culprit, as far as I've found out. Total DCS video memory usage can be checked by pressing RCtrl+Pause twice and it appears in yellow text at upper-left corner of DCS window. On online servers, memory usage is significantly higher than offline (twofold or threefold even, which multiplies with number of players and time spent online at a server). Although memory leak is pretty much solved, longer you stay online, more video memory DCS would require. It looks like textures and data game loads for new-joined players it never clears once they disconnect. So, when you say game uses a third of your available resources, it sounds really strange. Because, online, mine video memory usage goes from 3GB up to 6.5GB (usually on the high end), by which point it becomes practically unplayable (so it can be quite higher than that). With your PC, by all my experiences, it should be smoothless. So, back to the basics, check if your graphics card is in the right slot, and make sure W7 uses developer's drivers instead of OEM ones. Turn off OEM graphics card auxiliary/OC software. Turn off AA, AF, etc in GC control panel and turn it on within game. Turn off all unnecessary processes in Task manager (although, with that PC you shouldn't have to). Considering my PC, I found a solution to make my DCS playable on it, while on popular servers.
  24. Thank you.
  25. Glad to hear that. I've enjoyed CA on some servers a lot. And on HolloPointe we actually managed to coordinate ground/air assets in assaults quite nicely couple of times. One of the things I would like to be implemented the most at the moment is "follow the leader", ie. AI members of a detachment to follow a human player :smilewink: .
