  1. Reference the V1 mod, why use that model with the in game MLRS and tweak its lua files?
  2. Para bellum, are you planning on releasing this mission to the public?
  3. But I thought this feature had been removed by ED?
  4. Yes, I do not think we wil see a Viggen in two weeks, may be a screenshot but not a finished aircraft. I don't think ED will release till after the Tiger and Spit as it would affect their sales.
  5. If page file is the culprit I don't understand how 16gb is not enough ram! For me though Openalpha seems to work flawlessly
  6. I tried that last night but it did!'t work hence my question. I tried: DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta But it just came up its a box saying that current version is the latest version. Any idea? Update DCS.bmp
  7. Mysticpuma, I have to say well done on that video! Imagine the video you could create once DCS 1944 is fully developed with a large map, P-47, B-17 etc........ WHEN the B-17 is developed for DCS, I hope we can walk around it to move between crew positions and get some good internal action shots like in the video so we can develop a better understanding of what it must have been like for the young men flying these incredible machines into battle.
  8. I am having some severe performance issues in 1.5.3 release which are preventing me from using multiplayer therefore I would like to try Open Beta but don't want to run three installs including DCS 2.0 due to limited SSD space. Is there a way of turning the release version into Open Beta instead of uninstalling release and reinstalling Open Beta? Thanks in advance.
  9. For MP is playable for about 15-mins then my frames half to 30 and it becomes unplayable. The whole nothing )CPU, GPU etc is at 100% load)
  10. Fantastic news. Being able to enter waypoint will make a huge difference as will being able to use it to locate target or lock close to a target in poor visible in order to drop a gbu-12 with jtac support.
  11. UBoats, I can see how this will load the textures contained in each Mods folder but does it not also load the files contained within the config folder of each mod?
  12. Greg, XCom, Well done on this round, the server seems much more stable with fewer crashes and lag. One issue I would like to report is the spawning in at FARPs. Often helicopters spawn in on top of each other and at the BE-TL FARP sometimes my spawn point keeps moving back until the point where I fall off of the slope and if I then try to respawn I sometimes get blocked by the new script. Also a request - is it possible to add deployable artillery and MLRS to the CTLD script? These units could require 3-4 crates to deploy and once deployed in the field, although non-moveable, they can controlled by Forward Observers with CA (I assume forward controllers cannot see enemy locations on F10 map). This would mean that grid references for fire missions would have to found and passed by the gazelles and KA-50s and the other team will have a lot of fun trying to locate and destroy these units. Keep up the great work! Jacks
  13. YoYo, which textures are you using as they look very nice! Jacks
  14. YoYo, Have you tested the FXAA option in nvidia inspector as I thought FXAA was a good AA tool that doesn't effect performance too much. I would be interested to hear your views on FXAA.
  15. I did some testing using the settings in the attached image and found that at times my FPS dropped to 45 yet my CPU never went above 87% (CPU 4 peaked at 87% and the other 3 did not go above 45%) on any of the cores and the GPU load never exceeded 60%. Why am I getting low frames if both the CPU and GPU are not maxed out? I have also attached my MSI afterburner logs and the test I conducted using Gazelle Campaign Mission 1 is the second log down. MSI Log.zip
  16. Yeah I downloaded the drivers and did a clean install. The wierd thing is that there is a definite improvement in NTTR. When installing drivers I don't install nvidia experience, 3D vision or 3D audio as I don't need them. I just clean install the drivers and physix A new driver was released yesterday so will try that.
  17. I have a question about the campaign. Is the voiceover used for the British Apache pilot used throughout the campaign? I tried mission one but found the voiceover so irritating and slightly offensive (British Army Officers DO NOT talk like that!) given it is promoting an outdated stereotype, that I quit the mission early. I may be able to bear it for a single mission but not for a whole campaign! Please do not use this voice over in any further missions or modules. Tin hat on, I am ready for the abuse that will no doubt follow this post. :holiday:
  18. Yesterday I upgraded from a 2GB 770 to a 4GB 980 and I have actually seen a reduction in performance. I will post my settings later but it is a mixture of high(textures, scenes and viability) and medium (water and shadows) with low heat blur, low cig traffic, no mirrors, no HDR, no flat shadows, No lenses effect and only 4x MSAA and 4x Anisiotropic Filtering. This is at 1920x1080 with sweetfx and starways new caucaus textures. Performance in 2.0 seems to have improved and I can now fly down the strip at a solid 60FPS but with 1.5 (release version) in the Mi-8 free flight mission I get around 60 frames without vsync and on the first mission in the gazelle campaign I get 30FPS when looking at the FARP. I also get 40 FPS when sat on the pan at Tbilisi in the Gazelle on the Blue Flag server whereas I used to get 50FPS here with the 770 using the same settings. Also I have noticed more flickering from shadows and distant buildings :-( Jacks
  19. So if that is the case how does PI mode work for CCRP and CCIP as it is an option on the PCA. I had always assumed that it uses the ins to place the lock point and then uses the opinion data and altitude data from the INS to calculate release point or impact point. I recognise that this is likely to be the least accurate form of bombing but it is very useful to help you find a location designated by another play (either a JTAC or a gazelle/KA-50 pilot) or for you to lock the targeting system close enough to the target so you can release a GBU-12 using this mode and it will pick up the beam without the need to dive and relocate the target by placing the pipper over it.
  20. When I said about attacking a target from altitude without visibility, I meant using GBUs with a human jtac lasing the target. Using the INS to load the aiming point will make using GBUs so much easier. Currently locating a target at high altitude and set locking nearby is difficult and results in a loss of altitude which depending on the Sam threat can be risky. Plus +/- 30m is close enough for a launch of multiple unguided bombs with a separation set. So I guess I was right in my description! Jacks
  21. As far as I am aware, it using the lat and long in the ins to set the aiming point for the bomb instead of you having to manually place the pipper over the target and pressing lock. I don't know if then uses the height and location data from the INS or uses radar or rad alt to calculate distance to target and altitude. It will be very useful for lasing guided bombing and will mean that you don't have to lower the nose to set the aiming point and so the whole attack can be conducted at a constant altitude. It also means the human jtac can give you the grid of the target and so you won't need to be visual with a target to attack it. I may be wrong though..........
  22. I have not used the m2000 for a while as I have been waiting for it to be developed further (despite it being a great module). Anyway I was wondering whether there had been any further development to the INS like the ability to manually input waypoints or input a coordinate to be used with PI bombing mode? Jacks
  23. I am also running the newest version. How come this is issue is not affecting everyone?
  24. My Video memory usage just keeps going up and up and after 1-1.5 hours of playing online, it hits 18GB (I have 16GB RAM and 2GB VRAM) and my frame half. What could be causing this and is anyone suffering form the same?! I have attached a picture that shows the state of my memory as soon as I entered a server after restarting the PC. It shows 10GB video memory yet in Task Manager, DCS is only using 6GB of RAM. I did some testing in single player and started the M2000 free flight mission, the video memory was 4.5GB. I then left that mission and entered the F-86 Mig Sweep mission and the video memory was 8Gb. I then left this mission and restarted the M2000 free flight mission and this time the video memory was 6.5Gb. Therefore it gain 2Gb as if the Video memory is not being cleaned between missions. Is this normal?? Jacks
