  1. The bomblets are modeled...check using slow-motion. They are modeled for ballistic and spread of impact simulation. Was important in the A-10A and A-10C because of the way their CBUs work and can be adjusted.
  2. This seems more like this is dancing around the issue then any actual discussion about if it was used or not. There are several reasons why Multiplayer is a bullshit arguement for anything. reason zero: should we discount everyone who sit´s in an FC3 F-15C slinging Amraams? It´s the ultimate easy-mode plane and half it´s systems either don´t work, or don´t work to spec and are thus cheating. Same with most other FC3 planes. A: Multiplayer doesn´t mean jack, it´s one of the smallest parts of DCS statistically. B: Multiplayer fairness does not exist. C: The system, if it works as it should, will barely warn you of anything launched in normal combat perimeters. D: The Mirage is gimped in BVR like no other 4th gen in the sim, if it´s true fairness you want, same plane on both sides is the only way to archieve it. So what if it has a very simplistic and restricted launch warner? You treat it like it´s the MWS system in the A-10C, which is known to not work to spec. Assymetric balance is much harder to archieve and needs a mission designer who knows virtually every planes capabilities inside and out so he can weigh the pros and cons against each other.
  3. Good, we´d need atleast three variants to get the most out of it...
  4. If given the track I could give numbers for a 6700K running at 4.5Ghz and a Gainward GTX 1080...
  5. Use RS, TAS is not accurate at the moment. And drop more then one. They sadly still feature the standard shotgun pattern and probably the warheads of the Mk.20... And cluster bombs typically have reduced number of bomblets for performance reasons.
  6. Jo, ich hab Urlaub und das liegt ja fast neben dem Kilimanjaro, da find ich also auch hin XD Lass ich mich auch mal wieder blicken. Also 18:30 vorher da treffen, ja? Muss ja dem Shagrat noch beibringen, die die Laserrangefinder und Autoelevation features von Combined arms funktionieren, nachdem ich jetzt nochmal geprüft hab, das es sie immer noch gibt XD
  7. Elmo is probably confused, because RS mode is currently much more accurate then TAS, and will give a much more accurate solution with both active then just with TAS. But that is the point, TAS should be more accurate, RS should only be accurate if the target is the same elevation as you. Personally, I don´t use TAS until it is accurate enough, RS works well enough and I can get bombs/rounds on target consistently.
  8. They do not work like Belougas, however, they still work like Mk. 20 Rockeyes. The "Belougas" currently immediately detonate right under your plane after dropping. Belougas are supposed to drop, and at a set barometric altitude/drop time start releasing submunitions in rings, from their launchholes you can see on the body, from back to front. This creates a very drawn out, elonggated drop pattern about 120x40m. The canister stays intact and simply drops to the ground. So I assume very WIP still, simply currently a new 3D model for the Mk.20... Belouga Drop pattern : Empty canister on the ground: http://abload.de/img/df-st-92-0958767ri5.jpeg And to answer the questions: Yes, they still work, I just engaged some lightly armored ground units with them and destroyed a couple of them. Use RS, turn on your radar altimeter, set desired release pattern, put pipper on target, pull trigger, pull away, target dies shortly after in a shower of bomblets. They can even kill T-90s. *fixed
  9. My body and wallet are ready.
  10. I tried that, it uses two since it oursources the sound to a different core. Running it on just one core makes performance tank.
  11. WW2 levelbombing was never meant to be precise. For low level releases, one should train oneself for various speeds, and find the reference points and timings, such as Screamadelica suggested.
  12. No IR Missile is Laser guided...they use passive sensors (your heat) to find you.
  13. I don´t quite know what these are supposed to do.
  14. So the Mirage 2000 went into service with Fs? Wow... But anyway, thanks.
  15. Forget the circle. What you also need is "Magic Slave Button", which is also used for designating targets in Air to Ground modes. This way, if you have a target locked with the Radar, you can make your Magic Seekerhead LOOK AT the contact, possibly getting an off-boresight lock if the missile can see the target. Then quickly pitch your nose towards the target and fire a Magic. The circle just tells you where to idealy put the target before launch, and weather or not you are in maximum firing ranges or optimal firing ranges... You can therefore use the shortrange Radar modes (Boresight, horizontal scan and vertical scan) to quickly aquire a target, slave the Magic seeker to it and once you have a positive lock, fire immediately. Otherwise the Magic seeker stays boresighted. No matter wether or not you have a Radar lock. And to reiterate, the Boresight is AT THE GUN CROSS, the circle is NOT where the Magic is looking. In this video, you notice that my enemy is nowhere NEAR my boresight when I get the magic lock, this is because I hold down the Magic Slave Button and after getting a lock, simply waiting for my nose to point roughly at the target so the missile has to pull less Gs.
  16. The Super 530D is roughly 10 years older then the R-27ER...around the time the 530D was introduced the biggest stick the Soviets had was the R-27R, which is roughly comparable. And I get decent launch ranges out of the 530D by employing it in the regimes it was designed to operate in...namely 20000 feet and higher. 8 Miles? You must be flying in the weeds.
  17. Completely different tools...one is to prepare your flight for a prepared mission (Loadouts, Flightplan, Fuelstate etc.) and the other is to make a mission from scratch.
  18. If you are on emergency and need to land, you properly announce that you are on emergency fuel, and will be coming in for an emergency landing stating the damage to your aircraft so that groundcrews can properly prepare in case of ...unforseen mishaps with the weapons/fuel in your craft. The ATC will make time. Emergency fuel is always LESS then minimum fuel...minimum is still fine, emergency is "I NEED TO LAND NOW, PLZ!" Landing on two gears is hard but possible, however, that is a landing I would only attempt with my hand on the ejection in case I mess it up XD
  19. This, so many times this...people get so hyped for releasedates mentioned MONTHS ago or even weeks ago, yet, people fail to realize that the most notable thing about an upcoming release is the MASSIVE PROMOTION that happens the month prior. No promotion, no release imminent. Patience. Patience. Where is the patience?
  20. What is the target elevation? Because from that angle, it looks like the target elevation is 0...effectively the Waterline of the river right under the target.
  21. Nobody said anything about merging...he said it was a good Interceptor, not that it would beat dedicated dogfighters in WVR. The classic Interceptor scenario is still Bombers(or whatever) in high altitude regimes. The F3 also had engines tuned for medium to high altitude performance. I mean, it´s not perfect...but then again it´s a converted ground attack plane. Doesn´t mean it doesn´t suck in typical fighter tasks. It had thrust to weight ratios slightly lower then a Mirage 2000 at 0.78 vs. 0.83 at NTOW, but it had a boatload of fuel for AB, long legs (so it could either patrol longer or intercept earlier) and as I said a decent weapons/avionics package. I wouldn´t say it would beat a 2000C in a dogfight, but that´s not what was claimed here. Also, it´s not like there were many of them around XD
  22. He is using a home-cockpit...Sensor Export lock prevents DCS from exporting data to the software required to run these pits. If he didn´t use these pits, he´d have no problem.
  23. ADV was a pretty good interceptor. Keep in mind that the only requirements for a good interceptor is Climb-rate, Service ceiling and max-speed, which the Tornado is no slouch in. Plus, it had a decent Radar and Weapons package.
  24. No.
  25. Exceptions prove the rule. I never said it´s impossible, first of all. Just that it complicates things. Otherwise we´d be swimming in 4th gen. And just because it´s possible for X (and look how long the development on THAT takes...about 9-10 years now?) does NOT mean it´s also possible for Y. The F-18 is popular, old (in terms of airframe and service life), and alot of info might be available. You also don´t know how ED produced the more in-depth information on JHMCS, Aim-9X and so on. Maybe it´s publicly available, maybe you can buy them, or maybe someone simply told them...they did mention having two Hornet pilots floating around here somewhere... From my limited experience, it also seems to be easier to get information from anything in the US arsenal, then anything else. Other Governments/Companies, other policies. For example, Grumman might be very open about making Simulators out of their planes, while Lockheed or General Electric might flip out and C&D you immediately. You never know... Assumption. Maybe, but maybe not. I´d wager the F/A-18C is going to be the most advanced and capable plane (let alone multi-role) for a VERY long time... We have some 4th gen coming/in...M2000C marked the start, F14A/B, EF Typhoon, Hornet...But we are also getting ALOT of 3rd Gen in comparison.
