I am an expat living in China so I think that's why I am not having availability issues as I live in the place they are manufactured. Otherwise very little info online about it but the salesman (although of course he would say that) assured me it was one of the best. I don't understand how people are managing to sell them for nearly 2000 pounds, I guess some people are rich and desperate!

My 1080Ti is actually the 'OC edition' do you think that will be significant in terms of performance gain, or is it a bit of a marketing gimmick?

Well guys utterly failed to control myself and ended up buying not only the new MB, RAM (3200Mhz), cooler, and I7-8700k CPU, but also splashed out on a brand new 1080Ti 11GB. I managed to keep the costs within 1 thousand 300 English pounds by selling him components within what is now, or more accurately was my old computer. I didn't get exactly great prices for the GTX 980Ti, and could have got more money had I been less lazy I suppose (and sold components to people not planning to resell) but I was able to make the upgrade to a 1080Ti much more palatable and really I don't think I've ever not been murdered trying to sell things second hand. Will still upgrade to the Volta when the time comes but when I got to the shop and had the 1080Ti perched high above me on a shelf staring at me, I eventually broke down and promised to do what I could to take him home. Just wouldn't have felt as exciting getting the CPU and mother board upgraded without a new GPU to go with it! I wouldn't say I feel happy exactly as I haven't tested it in action yet. I feel like I always do when I buy a new computer, kind of unsure of myself, but I'm sure once I have some money in my bank and I can feed my family again that will improve haha! Kind of nervous that I will load up DCS and somehow see no improvement whatsoever! Worst thing is I have to download it all over again so I should be ready to fly by tomorrow knowing the download speeds! Turns out I already had an 850 watt PSU anyway, after insisting that I have an 850 watt the salesman must have known he had a right mark when I walked in. I don't know what made me think it was 650 but not a good way to begin negotiations! I'm really poor at haggling as well, I don't have the perseverance and am too obviously a case of JUST TAKE MY MONEY, and let me go home and play! Yeah I know its all I have ever heard for years when asking about upgrading my 17-4770, but I'm hearing really good things about the 17-8700k especially in conjunction with a card like the 1080Ti which I plan to either equal or better eventually!

Humm. The guy assures me a 650 PSU will be Okay but says I can have an 800 if I want, seems to think its overkill even when I tell him I want to future proof. Do I really need to go higher than 650 do you think? Its the one thing that's been worrying me that I should get a more powerful PSU. And yes I do want to overclock the CPU at some point!

Yep thanks guys I'm going with a new Z370-H, i7-8700k (air cooler not water), DDR4 RAM, SSD 1TB 960 pro, and a corsair PSU 650w. I am going to basically sell back the RAM I bought (reduced price) and also sell/use whatever components are left in this computer that the guy is willing to buy, or thinks are salvageable. I might see if he will give me a reasonable price for my 980Ti (isn't about 300 dollars fair?) for which I could go the whole hog and put towards a new 1080Ti, but I doubt I will have that much cash by tomorrow. I really want to wait for the next gen GPU's if I can though!

I'll get in on this! Yes Gazelle is fantastic in VR the agility is mind blowing, the close shaves you will have at times just leave you breathless! MI8 also and well you know what buy all of the helicopter modules! I love them all! To be honest I haven't ever regretted buying a single DCS module. Huey is fantastic too. Both M18 and Huey look much nicer due to a larger FOV than modules such as the Gazelle. But yeah for me I find it very hard to break away from the helicopters...

My I7-4770 350Ghz (not OC) is starting to annoy me in DCS as it has occasional steam background flashes which seem almost random. Now to be honest I think that this is just particular to the current branch of DCS 2.22 and will probably be vastly improved by 2.5 but I'm just thinking its time to get a new motherboard/CPU anyway as this one is nearly 5 years old, and I want better DCS performance (ability to run deferred shading etc.). The main thing I'm asking is about CPU as obviously RAM (already bought new RAM recently) and all the other components I don't really need to worry about (will buy a water cooler for CPU overclock). I don't plan to upgrade my GTX 980Ti just yet, but obviously I want the new motherboard to have the ability to upgrade both the CPU and the GPU in the future (looking way past 1080Ti if possible.) So guys any recommendations? There's lots of conflicting info out there and this intel performance bug seems very worrying. Also the ability to overclock is a must as I learned with the 17-4770 (no proper cooler in my PC)! I would just get the i7-8700k but I cant say the reviews are all that positive (people basically calling it a rip off) and I worry that the LGA 1151 socket, will also be discontinued in the future meaning I would need to buy a whole new motherboard (computer) again! AMD is a possibility (certainly not for GPU though) but I am generally an intel guy! So any ideas most welcome. Also any other things you think are important (might get a new SSD) for the future proof VR (especially DCS) computer let me know!

Hey I think I'm getting that bug again where when I crash simshakers crashes DCS!

Cant wait! I have gone so far as to delete 1.5/8 in anticipation of this months release, and finally have space on my C:/ drive! VR is just getting better and better on the VIVE (especially explosions) and hells bells do I love flying my new Gazelle around downtown Vegas just as the sun is coming up! But I really cant wait for the Caucasus maps as as much as I love Vegas in and around the city I prefer the Caucasus countryside! Its really the only experience (well BOS too) I have on the PC for which I can truly justify the price of my HTC VIVE.

Hey guys I have I7-4770-350 ghz, and a 980ti. I'm very happy with the performance I get in Vegas 2.22 although I steer clear of multiplayer and design my own missions for VR. Normandy is on sale and I would love to get it but I am imagining the performance is not great in VR at the moment. Just wondering if its worth getting at this point?

Well did a repair and it just asked for Gazelle CD key so I am guessing we solved this mystery! Dont know why it deleted itself though!

If I use the (2.22) mission editor with player or client all other helicopters I have work OK but now the Gazelle wont load it will only work as an AI gunner (observing mode) or else in player mode as just a map. Instant action does the same thing it just loads up a map. Everything was fine even just earlier today and like I say other helicopters like the MI-8 seem to work fine. Is this a bug? Yes I have selected client/player, and take of from parking hot. Thanks

Got it sorted out now was because I was using the mouse wheel. Gazelle is fantastic in VR especially at night over vegas!

Yeah I dont seem to have this problem with other modules only my new Gazelle module bought for Christmas! bummer!

Deferred shading on and then off again because I cant use it in VR as it makes things look awful. You guys know I dont mean the black shark itself right, but only the head targeting system where you select your target using your head? The actual blackshark module is fine, but whenever I turn on the targeting system in VR everything just goes bright white. Sorry if thats not very clear, I will check tooltips later and find out what the exact name for the head mounted targeting system is.

Anyone know why? When I load up the game everything is fine but after a while I press something and then the cursor vanishes and never returns! Anyone know how to fix this? Many thanks

Hey guys try to use the head mounted targeting system in VR (DCS 2.2) and its so blinding I have to switch it of again. Anyone know how to fix this, never used to have this problem, so am thinking its maybe a bug? Thanks guys!

Just curious as to why you posted here? VR section is pretty slow traffic and response wise even for VR related questions, you'll get much more assistance if you post in the main forum.

How exactly does one uninstall cteators content?

People get frustrated because its so tantalizingly close to perfect but just annoying enough to be not quite there performance wise and as a result we cant go back to monitor DCS and yet in VR large parts of the game are closed off. I would get a new PC but its obvious from the GTX 108ti reviews that it dosent seem to matter how much GPU/CPU one throws at the problem it doesent seem to matter. This is very difficult for people to understand as we are all used to computer upgrades automatically entailing better performance. With DCS/VR this doesnt seem to work out like that so people are naturally taking this to assume something is wrong with the game. Myself I dont know enough about computers or VR to make to much of a comment. I think many rushed out and upgraded expecting big results only to find that for whatever reason DCS in VR dosent seem to much improve and even with the latest hardware one must rely on reprojection. Personnally I am happy on the whole, but there are things that never get fixed that I worry never will get fixed as they are such glaring problems I am not sure why after all this time they have not been addressed. For me massive fps drops with certain explosions (certain missilies or bombs) is the biggest problem this game has, a long with clouds. But I can live without clouds, but there is no way to tweak explosions. That said you just gotta enjoy what there is, create your own missions and just enjoy flying and fighting. I think people who demand competitive multiplayer will be the most frustrated.

Are you sure the performance itself is terrible and not just the stated fps? I get very low fps according to the fps counter but it runs fine and must be hitting the 45 target, as its very obvious if you fall below (judder etc). Point is turn the fps counter off and judge it for yourself as I honestly dont think the fps counters in DCS/VR are very reliable for some reason.

I dont know OP have seen quite a few people having problems with the 1080Ti and DCS, and while I am sure it will be fixed in the future, maybe its just particular to that card or your particular setup. When people say its unplayable though its very difficult to know what they mean. Some people demand a certain level of performance that others dont share, or go purley by FPS counters. They may demand multiplayer on public servers with massive amounts of units and clouds, instead of being happy using the mission editor to tailor things to the VR experience. When you say ' unplayable' whats wrong exactly, and how much are you expecting (where and how are you playing settings etc) from the game? My advice for enjoying DCS VR, is to create your own missions. There are definately large parts of the main game that are off limits due to fps drops or too many units, that will make the game unbearable in VR. I sometimes wish I could go back to monitors because VR has limitations but I just cant go back, not only because its an utterly inferior experience but because after having been 1-1 with the virtual DCS world its actually feels wrong, as if things are no longer working as they should be. Its a simulation but you are actually flying! If my headset was to explode tommorow I would no longer play DCS until I had a new one. Wouldnt matter if I had ten monitors!
