I've never used the game modes. I don't even know what they're like.
-
Option 1 - AV-8B NA Option 2 - AV-8B+ Option 3 - Harrier Gr.9
-
All right, I have my hand on my wallet and I'm a fast draw. Bring it on! :D
-
I'll need an M61A1 on that. I want to see what it's like to fly backwards.
-
We need Lemoore, Fallon, and we may as well go with El Centro, too. And at that point, they may as well put in North Island, Miramar and Edwards. And as long as we've gone that far with the Nevada map extension, enough of the Pacific for carrier ops off the California coast. And well, by that point, they should just go ahead and add Yuma.
-
All right, we've got a Harrier, with UK versions evidently in the pipeline. There are A-4s in progress. Now we need a Super Etendard and a Falklands map.

I'll take an Su-24. And a Syria map. :D
-
What the...? Where'd the Su-27 go? What happened to my VR hangar?:thumbup::pilotfly:

Anything with a proper tailhook that can land on a carrier. And helicopters. But honestly, I'll be buying whatever they release. My wallet is always at the ready for new airplanes, from RAZBAM or anyone else who wants to make airplanes for DCS. I enjoy flying anything. They could release Leonard Milholand's Legal Eagle with a half-VW engine and I'd buy it. Imagine it, "DCS: Legal Eagle". I prefer to stick with military stuff, though. But my heart has softened over the years towards the idea of non-fighter stuff in DCS. I'd like to see RAZBAM develop some maps, along with their aircraft. So basically, RAZBAM can make whatever they want and I'll buy it. So far, I love the Harrier and the M-2000C, so I'm a RAZBAM fan. :pilotfly:

How about a Border War map covering the war between South Africa and Angola? We already have the MiG-21, there are apparently Mirages coming, and later on the Atlas Impala and other aircraft, including helicopters, could be added. There was mud-moving and air-to-air action in the conflict. And the terrain area would be reasonable for a DCS map. Also, the terrain itself wouldn't be terribly complex and should offer good frame rates. I'd like to fly during the for the South African Air Force during the Border War, and I'd probably jump in the MiG-21 and try it from the other side once in a while, too. Anybody else up for this idea? :pilotfly:

How about a logbook that tracks everything, such as catapult launches, carrier arrested landings, bolters, field arrests (we should have those), shipboard landings (choppers, Harrier, etc., not traps), and all the stuff that's actually recorded in a pilot's logbook? And we need VMA squadrons in the logbook for the Harrier. :pilotfly:

DCS Helicopters - ED Internally developed rotary wing aircraft
Oubaas replied to flybull's topic in DCS Core Wish List
DCS Bell 47. It'll be like flying medevacs on M*A*S*H. -
That would be great, Home Fries! Don't forget VMA-214. :)

Bah! We don't need all that Army stuff. What we really need is an SH-3G and an SH-60B so that we can fly plane guard during flight ops with the Tomcat and Hornet. And if RAZBAM comes through with the A-6 and/or A-7, we'll need them even more so. You should throw in the HH-46A/CH-46D as well, just for good measure. :D -
Since we're up to page 3 and not everyone will backtrack, here's a small mission file so you can go play with the Harrier on the boat. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3040286/index.php It's only 17KB or so. You start on the Tarawa and you can do whatever you want. There's a cruiser slightly ahead of the Tarawa on the starboard side, and the KC-130 tanker is airborne just off the coast if you want to refuel in flight. Practice your shipboard takeoffs and landings, inflight refueling, or whatever you want to do. You can change your loadout and fuel load on the Mission Planner screen. Have fun and feel free to mod the file to your liking. :pilotfly:

It's a pretty minor point, but we could use some VMA squadrons in our logbooks. All I can find right now are VMFA and VMO squadrons for the logbook. Aside from that, I'm completely delighted so far with the AV-8B NA Harrier II from RAZBAM. Nice work!

Here I am landing on the boat. I've been doing this all afternoon. Launch, fly the pattern, land, repeat. You know, I used to think that I didn't like being retired.
-
Well when you revisit the Buckeye, we need a T-2C with a VT-26 Tigers skin, and after that a TA-4J with a VT-25 skin. And if you want to do a little prelude sort of deal, a T-34C Turbo Mentor would be all right, too. After the TA-4J, I'll need an A-7A and then a transition to the A-7E, followed by the F/A-18C. After that, I get to retire.

I just uploaded a single mission for DCS World 1.5, Unit is "Other" because there's no AV-8B option yet. You start aboard the Tarawa at 0730, take off from the ship(nozzles 60 degrees, flaps VSTOL, full throttle), maybe go buzz the nearby cruiser, perhaps go refuel with the KC-130 lingering off the coast, and when you're done burning holes in the sky, come back to Tarawa and perform a shipboard landing (nozzles 90 degrees, flaps VSTOL, work that throttle) in the Harrier. So those of you who hate messing around in the mission editor are all set as soon as it's reviewed by a moderator and posted. EDIT: The mission file is up now, here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3040286/index.php :pilotfly:

Oh yeah! I'm loving it. I took off from Maykop, nozzle at about 60 degrees, leapt right up into the air, flew her down to Sochi at around 86% and arrived at Sochi with 3,200 lbs of fuel. Lined up an approach and brought her in slow with the nozzles at around 30 degrees until I was almost to the runway. By that time, I was down to 3,000 lbs of fuel, my target weight, so I gradually increased the nozzle angle until it was at about 90 degrees and I was just about hovering. Worked the throttle and set her down vertically just like a feather, at a descent rate of about 100 FPM. So I now have 30 minutes and one landing in my logbook for the Harrier. This is a great module. You're looking at addictive fun. :pilotfly:

I'll be happy to purchase and fly the Yak-52. I love all airplanes. Even the rotary-winged ones...although I have to admit that fixed-wing aircraft feel more "normal" to me. But I still fly the eggbeaters a lot. So bring on the Yak-52! I'll buy it as soon as you release it. I love it all.

As the World War II for DCS effort continues, I'd like to see some coverage for the Eastern Front, and some Russian aircraft of the era. :pilotfly:
