  1. I am a crew chief and the DCC on my jet. I am also an ART, so I work as a civilian during the week. Because of that if my jets on the schedule, I'm on her. I can only think of a handful of times in the last year that I haven't launched her out. I know on other bases the DCC program is different, but technically since I'm a civilian, they can't put me on anything but my jet. As that was what I was hired to do.
  2. A quick question, if I don't have CA can I still do this campaign? Every time I do a mission that I'm suppose to support a group to some point, I fail. I kill everything JTACs don't have any targets and when I tell pine or elm to go in via F10 I don't hear a reply. Heck I don't even hear me say anything. Any help would be useful
  3. Yes it is. It's just not moved into one that requires treatment. I would think of addictions, this would be pretty harmless. But it still is an addiction.
  4. Yes video games can be an addiction. The moment it affects your job, relationships, and you cannot quit, then it is an addiction that you need to seek treatment for. Now I would say that video games for an addiction, while can do the same damage as a substance addiction, is often less harmful than other type of addictions.
  5. No worries man. You got a lot on your plate right now. Stay safe.
  6. It actually depends on the aircraft and situation. For example, the F/A-18 will use wheel breaks and pivot on a tire on the flight deck due to the small amount of space if the yellow shirt tells him to. Granted it's not really done on the beach, or a lot on the boat, but still done with enough frequency that I wouldn't say it's not adviised. However, on an A-10, or any Air Force jet for that matter, I haven't seen any pilot do it yet. But the gear on carrier based planes vs land locked planes are much different.
  7. If you're talking about the Maple Flag Missions than you need to go to their website. They have step by step instructions on how to set up their campaigns. I have four of them, 3 for the A-10C and the F-15C campaigns. Its not too in-depth to set up. you just have to rename the file to .exe and away you go. I hope that helps you out. You wont need JSGME.
  8. I find rudder are very important even in basic maneuvering. I use them on every turn, I'm far more accurate in my turns. It took me a bit to get the hang of it. A tip for you, when looking at the ADI that ball under it you want to keep that in the center. Just like a level. it sounds weird but, the way you do it is to push the rudder peddle the ball falls to. So if you make a left turn you use left rudder and you'll keep the ball in the center.
  9. Don't forget NAS Fallon, home of top gun! And NAS Lemoore is home to more than just the RAG squadron. It the entire fleet of F/A-18A-F for the Pac Fleet. Minus Japan of course.
  10. So do we have a time line on when the stick will be available? I know DCS F/A-18C is not out yet, but I'd like to have the stick before hand.
  11. No worries man I have no problem answer questions about my job. So I am assigned to my one plane. She's mine and if she is flying then I'm launching her out and taking care of her. Unless for some reason they need me on something else. Which is pretty rare. If my jet isn't on the she duke, then they plug me in where they need me.
  12. I'm not a pilot, I'm a Crew Chief. I wish I was a pilot. But as to the helmet that you are wondering about, that's the helmet mounted cueing system attachment. Almost all pilots are using that now. Sometime, depending on the mission they'll fly without the HMCS and use a regular visor. And the back seater doesn't use it ever.
  13. Yeah it's a bit sad, but I'll get a brand new 35! Complete with new jet smell!!! Mmmmm new jet smell....
  14. That's my squadron, kind of, getting the gas, Fujins Rock! And in the second video, the second jet you see is my Jet! 88-0497. I'm going to miss her!
  15. Nice!
  16. I know, I was just trying to expand on your comment about the wires being there for emergencies only. And that even on bases that have the Cairrer Ops aircraft they only use the wires for emergencies.
  17. Even NAS Lemoore's gear was just for emergencies. The runway however did have the ladder lines and wires painted on it for FCLP. So when we practiced carrier landing on the beach it was done like that. They did have a LSO guiding them down like they do on the boat but they don't practice actual traps on land outside of Pax River that I'm aware of.
  18. Even with the upgrades the A-10 is obsolete. Is it really good at CAS? Yes it is. But so is the F-16 and F/A-18. And with the F-35 coming out it is becoming more obsolete. Those planes are just as good as the A-10 except for loitering time. But with tanker support its really a moot point. People want to keep the A-10 for emotional reasons, not sound judgement. Even Air Force Generals are say the same thing.
  19. I totally agree with this. It is a game, a simulation game, but a game non the less. Now having said that, you can take this flight sim, especially the high fidelity ones (A-10c, MIG-21), and fly them as realistically as possible due to modeling. Which is a lot of fun IMHO. But this is neither our profession, nor used to train us on how to fly the real life versions of these birds. I wouldn't get mad at someone because they called this a game, just as I wouldn't get mad for calling it a sim. It is literally whatever you want it to be. For me, my dream was to be a F/A-18C pilot. The closest I got to that was being a mechanic on them. So because of DCS I can train with other like minded people and fly the A-10C as close as possible to what the real pilots do. And once the F/A-18C is released, I can do the same in that. And I've been in the actual sim for the hornet and I will garuntee that it will be close, but not quite like the actual thing.
  20. I remember Wags mentioning that they changed the original color for NTTR because it looked more grey than it was suppose to. Maybe they missed a spot lol! I'm sure that it's not suppose to be that color.
  21. It's missing the tgp in the nose lol
  22. Yeah I saw that too. I as so ecstatic by that small detail.
  23. [\QUOTE] For every hour of combat it needed 4 to 5 hours of maintenance. The only good thing was the engines, reliable as hell and would endure crazy abuse. I got other reasons. I would kill for 4 or 5 hours of maintenance. We were at closer to 10 on the hornet and are the same on the 16. That's good for maintenance per hour of flight.
  24. I'd go 3R if you are expended, and 3L if you have hung or in expended ordance. That would be closest to the real world, as I believe the hit pads are on the left side of Nellis.
  25. Yeah I remember them saying that too. I was just wondering if I had missed an estimate for when they'd be released. Thanks guys. Looking forward to being part of the other side of Red Flag for a change.
