"10 days of unrestricted bombing, and Air patrols into the North accomplished what 3 years of (65-6 rolling thunder being overly politically controlled campaign failed to do." The very sad truth.

Awesome work Zeus! Keep it going!

Thanks for the clarification Prowler! Can we get a mod to change the title of the thread updating the variant so we won't have to answer this question every couple threads when we get near release
-
Agreed the crispness allows for the best videos, and to make it feel like you are really there

If you are serious about getting into flying I think you'll soon realize that flight sim's like DCS just won't cut it for teaching you anything that will be practical in GA. If anything use a more serious software like Prep or FSX, thought if your going for your PPL just get the Jeppesen flight kit, that will teach you everything about the basics. Good luck!

F-15C/D Approaching the Chopping Block Soon?
frixon28 replied to frixon28's topic in Military and Aviation
Of course if the US ordered 2/3 of the original planned F-22's we wouldn't be in this situation...but the past is the past. I am very surprised that their is even talks of retiring the F-15C/D in the next decade instead of the 2040's like the majority of the USAF current fighters will be (of course the 15C/D's have the oldest air frames). Interesting still -
It's pretty hard to say something is less interesting, when it is based around an opinion, just my opinion.

https://www.airforcetimes.com/articles/are-the-f-15-eagles-days-numbered Who knows if it is something just to appease the taxpayers...but it sure is interesting.

I agree especially with how each product must be released by itself, but we just don't know enough on the other products to conclude when anything can come out. I haven't heard anything about the Hind but I think we still got a while until the Tomcat and P-40, and who knows when the mystical F-18 will ever show up. Then again RAZBAM could already possibly have a release date agreed with ED (if that is how it works). Just way to much speculation this year with all the modules that should be released in the coming months.

Just think what this sim will be in 5 years...oh my
-
Wait...are you suggesting with that you have tried/used the A-10 in a designated SEAD/DEAD role? Oh my that must have been interesting

I agree with other quotes in that the A model was the only F-14 in service from 1974-1987 and was still the mainstay of the fleet for the majority of its service life. I think back to movies like the Final Countdown and Top Gun and they are all A models. So are all the stories from my family about seeing the Tomcat's in the early 80's off the flight deck so it's a bit of a personal reason I guess (which I think is fair). I think from a game play perspective the B will fit in better with the other 4th gen fighters we are getting along with the FC3 one's. But I also think using the F-14A in the mid 1970's would be fascinating to see it work in an era where there is not even F-15A's and F-16A's, where the F-4 and the F-5 still played a main role as a fighter. Also fighting against the new available MiG-23's in the A or fighting against the new available MiG-29's and Su-27's is a big difference! Just my humble opinion though...

Okay thanks for the clarification

Excuse me for asking a possibly over asked question, but I have been out of the loop on the Tomcat for a while. Are we still getting the A model first?
-
Not sure if this is the version we are getting, but it is a great pic of both the front and back seats.
-
Awesome progress!

Interesting digital camo scheme on that bird Prowler! May I ask what exactly did you do in that inspection?

Hello, What is the closest encounter you have ever had with a military (or warbird) aircraft. Stories are greatly appreciated. I'll tell mine of that every summer the local ANG C-17 unit always does low level runs over my house, enough that you will be watching TV and it will be drowned out by the engine and the house slightly shakes! We also use to have an A-10A squadron long ago and every year at all the Memorial parades they would do multiple fly over's. I once also saw 2 4 ships of Blackhawk's fly right over my house one early morning. Now I am sure someone has to have gotten buzzed by some aircraft while in the middle of nowhere!
-
I got to agree, flying a prop with a HUD is going to be pretty strange.
-
General specs/facts on the aircraft for those who do not know much about it: Max speed = 590 kmh/367 mph Cruise speed = 520 kmh/323 mph Combat radius = 550km/342 miles Armament includes 2 wing rooted .50 caliber machine guns and 5 hard points for various munitions. Can carry a variety of dummy munitions, rockets and cluster bombs, lgb's and I believe AGM-114 along with air to air missiles such as sidewinder, piranha and python air to air missiles. We also have a CMS of sorts. As we get closer to the eventual release more information will be clarified. Now the A-29B Super Tucano is a two seat light attack aircraft, or counterinsurgency aircraft. In DCS we will not want anything to do with enemy fighters, and definitely avoid SAM's. Fortunately we have plenty of low threat targets to give us entertainment with for our flight sim hobby. I believe flying the Super Tucano will be interesting due to the two seat design of the A-29B. I am sure since I don't believe it has been revealed if this is coming after the Harrier or not, that the 2 seat integration system, whether with fellow player or AI, that it will be great!
-
Thanks Prowler! I think it would be good just to show some general pictures of the Super Tucano in action, this module is going to be great!
-
Can any of you guys see yourself using the Harrier for SEAD/DEAD? I think it would be interesting to use it in that role with the sidearm and cbu load out against older SAM systems like the ones smaller countries and insurgents have
-
I agree, the Viper guys (and gals) are the only ones who know how to make a good B-Course video
-
Thanks for the videos guys, I just wanted to see some good general CA gameplay. The module is a fun little activity and I wish it had more people playing it!
-
Just wondering if there is any recommended videos for CA for as I cant find many on youtube. Thanks
