  1. Anyone know how to break Mach 2? What altitude did it require? (Assuming clean aircraft with afterburner.)
  2. Also, sometimes weird things happen in missions... Like a Mig31 seemingly crashing into the ground during a BVR Amos vs Phoenix fight at 40,000 feet. I would like to see what happened with a working recording system.
  3. Scenario: I fire a AIM 54C at a Mig31 Foxhound and he fires a AA9 Amos missile in return. So the questions I'm trying to figure out is: 1. Obviously, trying to break the Mig31 lock early keeps me out of the amos's seeker cone during terminal, but in order to do so I have to notch the Mig31's radar which means my awg-9 can't paint the target and give updated guidance info to the PH I just launched moments earlier. Does this mean the PH is trashed completely or can I turn back in and repaint the Mig31 in TCS? Will doing so reconnect with and update the PH I launched before breaking? Could the same apply to STT? If I fire PH in STT then have to break, if I turn back in and reaquire the target in STT will the PH go after it or just continue being dumb? 2. I'm trying to figure out when I'm in danger of the AA9 Amos and when I'm not. I've been hit several times by the Amos but never received that missile homing warning tone from the RWR (that intense 2 tone drumroll), Just the lock up tone you usually get when the enemy locks you up on his radar. (the less intense 2 tone) Any way of know when the Amos is in its terminal phase and about to hit you? I once got hit by an Amos while notching the Mig31 and had I known it was about to hit, I would have done something a lot more than just fly in a level, gentle left turn. Thanks for reading and your help!
  4. Is anyone else having trouble seeing the flare? In the training mission, not only is the flare barely visible after a few kilometers away, but that red smoke pretty much hides the red flare.
  5. Anyone have trouble seeing the HUD, warning lights under certain lighting conditions or when the sun is behind you? I also can't make out the warning lights in the bank by the right knee. Not sure if there is a resolution/ graphical thing I need to do to make the words pop out. I tried to use zoom, but it's really disorienting/nauseating so I prefer not to use it.
  6. Asking Jester to put up IP and ground target gives me a blank compass on the TID. Not sure why that is.
  7. Hi, I'm trying to do the Iran Trench reactor strike (it's the first single mission, on the SOH map) but I can't seem to get Jester to pull up WP 4, IP and Ground Target on the TID. So after WP 3, I just have to guess by the map provided in the briefing to guide me onto target. Am I missing something here or is there only 3 WPs available for Jester to give me?
  8. Anyone know if its possible to get it now? Loved that splash screen.
  9. Does anyone remember a time where the background of the main menu screen was this really cool flying through the clouds animation? I sort of want that again but can't find it.
  10. Did I say spoilers? My bad, I meant the leading edge slats.
  11. So I think in dcs you can break a helicopter flying through powerlines but a jet or ww2 prop cuts through that stuff like butter, no damage. Not sure that's realistic.
  12. Yea, TrackClip. I wanted to get the pro but heard from reviews that it was fragile and broke easily. Are there any alternatives to TrackClip pro?
  13. Follow up question, any clue how the spoilers might have gotten stuck? I thought they were automatic.
  14. Uh... sometimes my spoilers and flaps get stuck. I'm pretty sure the flap got stuck because I forgot to pull them in after takeoff and went overspeed, breaking them. Not sure if there is a manual retract flaps switch/handle somewhere in the cockpit. But when my spoiler got stuck in the down position, the surface control panel position indicator said that the spoilers were full up. Not sure if this is a bug or I broke the plane. Wondering if there is an emergency procedure for this too. Edit: I meant leading edge slats, not spoilers.
  15. Yeah, I just noticed that too. only uses the forward half of the thrustmaster slider.
  16. I would agree. Especially if you're just getting the hang of learning a plane and get killed after flying around for an hour can be a bit frustrating in single player.
  17. Would be nice... DCS puts so much detail in its modules, but the environments in which they operate in could use some of that high-fidelity love.
  18. Anyone else get some really annoying and weird experiences with the TrackIR? My view gets stuck in certain positions and elevations during fast paced dogfights where I have to swing my head wildly around the viewspace to keep an eye on a fast mover. Like if I fly the f14, my view gets stuck inside the ejection seat, or behind the control panel when I try to look over my nose. Requres me to lean back and look straight at the screen in order to un-stuck the view. By the time I look back to where the fighter was or should be, it's gone. And it then becomes a panic to try and whirl around to keep him from sneaking up on my six. I'm wondering if its the "G-force headtracking" option, where I think the camera is pulled towards the direction of Gs being applied to the pilot.
  19. I second fixing the track system. I have some pretty awesome fights that I want to see again from a 3rd person godview perspective, maybe use it to record footage for a video or even show friends that might be interested in DCS, but the tracks are so off right now its really a waste of computer resources to even have it on.
  20. Yeah, and it's pretty flawless. Wonder why DCS wouldn't just use a system similar to that, unless Tacview has some sort of patent on it?
  21. Either through some invisible hand after asking ground crew to push you back, or a tug magically appearing and pushing you back or you gaining control of a tug in order to push yourself back, I wish there was a way to handle your aircraft in reverse in the event of you either cornering yourself on the deck or overshooting the catapult. AI don't get out of the way so if it ends up blocking your only possible exit, you have to restart the mission and if you have to do that startup sequence again, it gets frustrating. Also, would be helpful if there was a way to know when to stop the aircraft to hook up to the catapult, sort of annoying to go into 3rd person view and try to guide yourself on since the NWS controls are backward if your facing the front of the aircraft.
  22. What would you control on the carrier module? I'm excited about the carrier/ship module, but I'm confused about what ED is shooting for. Is this going to be some sort of multi crew mod where a few people will perform sailing/combat duties that IRL requires hundreds of crew members a la "dangerous waters" style? Is it just mostly hanger/ animated elevator and deck crew/ briefing room? This mainly for the benefit of MP?
  23. I was just wondering if any RL tomcat pilots found it as annoying as I do. I will probrobly not remove the stick just to keep the "realism".
  24. Any RL F-14 pilots ever get annoyed with how the TID is obscured by the stick in the neutral position? I wonder if it's mainly how weird TrackIR can get with small head movements when its sensitivity settings are high.
  25. Then I don't know. Maybe that's why the ISS hasn't checked in today. Also, correction, PH radar range in acm is 10 miles +/- 1 mile. Not 15 miles.
