  1. And Krymsk won't turn the lights on during "daylight" hours. And....the flight director insists on adding a little "English" to the approach to compensate for wind. I landed diagonally last night, then swerved all the way up the runway before finding a taxiway.
  2. I think it's great. I lost my airport tonight and had to circle around looking for it.....I have no idea what the flight director was trying to get me to do.
  3. I like the new weather very much. The wind really makes flying a helo much more challenging.
  4. Probably about 45 seconds, and that is waiting for the throttle to spool up to 6500 rpm.
  5. I'd be happy if I ever get a successful barrel roll out of an L-39.
  6. Open the comms menu, press F10, then F6 for "ground objectives" and look for a likely victim. You can get more detail for each target by using chat; enter -ag [ABC], where "ABC" is the three letter code for each target you can see in the F6 view.
  7. Ya' know what? I did not specifically turn on pitot heating. That would explain the bad airspeed indication. It's hard to not fly the L-39, isn't it? I think it's a fun plane...although I cannot figure out how to do a barrel roll in the thing.
  8. The panel showed "de-icing on" just under the ice warning, so I assumed it was as on as it could be. A quick spin through the flight manual shows that's what I should expect if the de-icing systems are operating. I'm going to go with the bug you mentioned. I had not noticed it before...although I don't normally fly in really inclement weather.
  9. You didn't notice a faster than normal descent rate in the L-39? I flew my normal approach into Gelendzihik last night and found myself nearly skimming the waves before I noticed how fast I had dropped. Clear weather power and AoA settings were woefully inadequate to maintain a good glide slope. Got me to wondering....is ice buildup modeled as far as increased weight?
  10. What time? And only if I can follow....I'm not such a good navigator.
  11. Oh crap....you mean take my hands off of the controls? They're doomed.
  12. Now my question. I have no idea how to do a hover pickup of a downed pilot. What commands or actions am I supposed to use?
  13. In chat, enter [-tr ] then the three letter code for the location: -tr LOC. The results will specify the needs and quantities.
  14. I was on a server a couple of evenings ago and attempting to make a landing on a slope to pickup a downed pilot. Didn't focus on the right stuff, got it into VRS, and could not recover. Worse part....there was a witness. Almost immediately over chat "nice landing.....lol". Hate it when there's a witness.
  15. I should have noted the IP for the server some time. It's having trouble showing up in the server browser list.
  16. What kind of bomb? You aren't dropping the Jupiters by chance are you?
  17. Thanks, I'll try that. I need a correct shutdown procedure as well. Apparently, I shut down at an airfield incorrectly and could not refire the engines after fuel and arming.
  18. I'll be darned...a single Huey can completely take out a Listening Post. Be very precise with your rocket aiming on the towers and you'll have plenty remaining to take out the Mi8s. I had discovered the night before that using guns on the grounded Mi8s seemed to have little effect.
  19. Why am I not able to re-arm/refuel at a FARP? It works at the start of the flight, but not if I land later and want to remove the weapons for instance.
  20. Immaterial. You're participating on it for free...and making demands about its content. Please don't hector the server creator. Or, give him some money and buy the privilege of asking for content.
  21. When the server cluster goes down, you're the one that gets the panicked phone calls.
  22. So that behavior isn't normal for the Gazelle? I thought it was me. No wonder I'm fighting with this thing. I give it a little roll and it just keeps going.
  23. How much money have you donated to mirknir?
  24. Make sure the force trimmer switch is in the "on" position. Make sure your control input window is showing (R CTRL + Enter). On the ground, with engine running and hydraulic pressure in the system, move the cyclic a bit back and to the left then press whichever switch is your trimmer switch (I don't know the key off-hand, I have it mapped to a joystick button). Let go of the cyclic. Now, your stick position should be pretty close for hovering in ground effect.
