Hi there, I feel the C101 is a fun module, good job. However, I feel there may be a few discrepacies for IFR turning: Using the 4 min turn coordinator, I should turn at about 22° bank at 230 IAS. Doing this, I'll get about 3:40 for a full turn, so its a bit fast. Doing a bank = TAS/10 + 7 (30° at 230 kts) I'll get around 2:20, so its a bit slow. Also I noticed when in level flight, doing a bank from one side to another, there is a slight pitchup. This pitchup can even be used for climbing: once I stop waving the wings, the v/s goes to 0. I have never seen a (simulated) aircraft climb when being banked. Maybe thats a feature due to the design of the aircraft, I have no idea. I attached both turns and banking issue as a video, the banking is at the very end. c101 climb.trk

How to fire the GS-23? // RPM drops without firing
frumpy replied to frumpy's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Thats good news! Seems like a bit of RTFM. Thanks guys! :) -
Hey there, I don't get the rational on firing the internal gun of the ZA. After takeoff, RCtrl +3 for master arm, LAlt+1/2 for launch & HUD LShift + 0 to arm cannon Explosive charge button LShift+LCtrl+LAlt+A (Gun+GS, switch is moved even if cover is on) LCtrl+Space Then it does not fire, I think it should. After flying a bit around, suddenly the gun worked. After a bit more playing with the buttons (I don't remember which ones) the gun stopped working, but the RPM dropped when pressing the firebutton. What am I doing wrong? p.s. the RPM drop can be replicated by RCtrl +3 LAlt+1/2 LShift + 0 LCtrl+Space Fire l39za_rpm_decrease.trk

I'd love to see more civilian planes in DCS.

Hi there, nice module, I did a testride today. I did not read the handbook, I just noticed a few things that caught my eye. May be a misunderstanding on my side, a bug or a feature -I don't know and here we go! :) 1) The breathing sound in hard turns loops&cracks 2) When trying to stall at 90° pitch, the "AOA" and "speed" callouts are almost simultaneously. I think they should be ordered, so "AOA" is more important than "speed" or vice versa. 3) Altitude readouts for radar and barometric are per single feet. I believe it should be in 10' or 20' steps. Radar altimeter should also get more coarse with increasing alt. 4) Radar altimeter works until 45° bank and then quits. Depending on aircraft, radar altimeters work reliable to about 30° bank and then measure the slant distance. I think the formula is like sin((bank-30)*2)*RA + RA to estimate the slant distance above 30° bank 5) vertical speed in the HUD is sometimes -0 and sometimes +0 6) Pitch on the HUD is the "+"-sign, and on the PFD the top of the "w"? Not sure, if I read it right. The pitch differs by about 2.5° in my opinion. 7) In real life, a standard 360° turn takes two minutes. Bank is about (speed/10)+7, so a 30° bank at 230 kts should take 2 minutes. With these numbers, I measured 2:26 on the first run. Also 2 graphical things: The lighted buttons on the top right of the dashboard are hard to read if I don't zoom in. Perhaps a bolder font would help. The indicators for the gear are somewhat plain, some gloom would be nice :) Besides mentioning so many small things, let me say that this is really an interesting module with a lot of potential. Thank you!

The usage of the tool is a bit complicated. Here is how I did the update: 1. Download & run the Skatezilla Utility 2. On Application Settings: Set Slot #1 with Folder Path of DCS and Saved Games ("user"-folder of Windows) -- you need two green squares 3. Home: select slot #1 4. Advanced Update Options: Update to latest beta Good tool!

Hi there, I did a F-16 testrun, nice module! I like the calibration of the FBW, it allows some very precise and easy flying. I noticed some uncommanded yawing, don't know if this is a feature or not. It's in the trackfile at about 14:30 into the flight. f16shake.trk

Yes, it's a 404.

Is the BF-109 flight unstabl in real histroy?
frumpy replied to lee1hy's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
It depends on how "far ahead" is defined. :) Sure the He 100 had some advanced technology, which the 1938 109 did not possess (like the advanced radiator and advanced aerodynamics like the retractable tailwheel). The reason the 209 was built, was because they could not beat the He 100 speed with the 109 design. -
Can you be more specific here? I am running on 16GB, never had problems - but I am not doing multiplayer. So what issues can I run into? :)

Whats the difference in DCS to go from 16 to 32?

Is the BF-109 flight unstabl in real histroy?
frumpy replied to lee1hy's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Judging from onboard videos on youtube, it seems much easier to fly the real one. Keep in mind that a joystick with little travel and a middle position makes things harder. I don't like flying the 109 and 190 in DCS, they are both too unstable. -
So is this project still alive? :)

I am using buttons to zoom, for cockpit zoom use the "slow" version.

[NEED TRACK REPLAY] Pitch fluctuating during turns
frumpy replied to frumpy's topic in Bugs and Problems
I am having trouble reproducing this, I don't know whats going on. Quickstart Freeflight Caucasus is the situation. I thought maybe the artificial delay in the VSI made this, but usually I'm trying to fly steady so it should not be too much of a factor. Besides flying a track, I even have problems doing the same screenshots again. I will continue to monitor this. -
[NEED TRACK REPLAY] Pitch fluctuating during turns
frumpy replied to frumpy's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thats a bug. Tried an older version of 1.5.7, pitch is pretty constant at 2.5°. -
Hi guys, I want to do some instrument-flying, trying to get the numbers to fly a constant 45° banked turn. I noticed pitch attitudes between 0 and +5 degress for a level VSI. Now take away +-1 for finger trouble, thats still a fluctuation of 3 degrees for which I cannot find an explanation. Why is this?

I was close to buying the Yak. I was. How is the F-16/18 done, if not even the Yak gets finished?
-
Radar altimeter is above groundlevel. I havent flown the mission, but I suppose you mean 200m above field elevation then.

+1 for less saturation

I tried to set the wheelbrakes, increase the throttle and lift the tail with the elevator down. Works quite well, but the other way around (lifting the elevator to set the tail on the ground) does not seem to work. So the propstream affects the tail surfaces left, right and up, but not down?

I have no numbers on initial friction, but my gutfeeling (after pushing a few C172s around) tells me that the effect of an increase of 100 RPM (~~20% more thrust) will be larger than the effect of initial friction asphalt vs. grain concrete. Things would be easier if there was a documentation on the FMOptions.lua. :)
-
Hi guys, I learned that ED does not publish the dev documentation for changing the flightmodel. I wonder if anyone has some insights on the parameters of the FMOptions.lua-file? Thank you.

Did you use the file with the P-51D? I don't use that module, just tried it with the TF-51. I am no sure which difference bombs will make. A fully loaded 747 will not move at idle power, while being light it may accelerate without having the parking brake on.
