  1. Again about this, indeed you nailed it. When the 3rd caret (supposedly the Rne caret) was missing, I was flying right in the bandit's 6 o'clock pursuit (custom mission) for testing stuff. And after changing my flight path to intercept it more from the side - there it was the Rne caret, comming out from the Rmax caret. Which makes me suppose that: When in a straight 6 o'clock pursuit, the "system" assumes that the maximum range for missile intercept must imperatively also be the same that if the target started maneuvering (Rne) in that moment...
  2. Thank you @Swiftwin9s, posted my edit the same time as you answered. About Rne caret, didn't thought about that... but confusing still...
  3. I've just started to try this, and the "oval" symbol doesn't even appear...
  4. Yep I get it, but it would just take to change the correct letter for the selected missile type. Regarding the Rne - No escape range caret, why does it appear only sometimes ?
  5. Thank you for your input, the issue is: Lets suppose my loadout is: 1 AIM-9L + 1 AIM-9M + 2 AIM-9X When I select AIM-9L, the HUD shows: 9L 4 When I select AIM-9M, the HUD shows: 9M 4 When I select AIM-9X, the HUD shows: 9X 4 Well, since the aircraft is obviously not carrying 4 of each type, I think it is deceptive logic wise...
  6. Hello, 2 questions regarding AIM-9 employment on the Hornet: - one of the little triangle carets around the ASE circle (which means Rne - No escape range) is missing ? (I remember there used to be 3 of those carets.) - my loadout is 2 x AIM-9L + 2 x AIM-9M, but the version shown at the HUD is always 4 x the type selected (either L or M)... is this how it works in real life ? Thank you.
  7. Clarifying ! So I guess the AUTO feature is respectively the auto-uncage function...
  8. Interesting piece of information... So, from what I undertstand (and bearing in mind that there were probably several different implementations of this in the F-16), you're saying that: - the "auto-uncage" function, does exist; although activated in another way - the AUTO option in the BORE, SLAVE rotary ? In that case what is exactly the "TD" function necessary for ? Because at the other sim, even without FCR lock, the AIM-9 seeker would automaticaly uncage and follow the target by itself, merely by pointing it to the target, given the heat source was high enough.
  9. Neither I'm I; that's just what I understood from @Svend_Dellepude's post. It seems the procedure is something like: - press "cursor enable"; - slew the seeker with: "TDC" on the throttle grip... (this isn't working yet at the F-16 controls options at the sim) If it is indeed (in real life) possible to slew the AIM-9 seeker-head on the HUD, it is not implemented at the sim yet.
  10. Ok then, so what was @Svend_Dellepude talking about ? You mention also: " SCAN or BP "... shouldn't it be: " SPOT / SCAN " instead ? The " BP " you mention is also related with " TD ", as in: BP (bypass) : seeker must be manualy uncaged (press uncage button) TD (threshold) : seeker automaticaly uncages, if a threshold heat level is detected My "take" on the subject at pic below (based on another sim).
  11. Interesting, the kind of stuf I like to know. Played BMS Falcon for many time and really didn't know it was possible to slew the AIM-9 seeker...
  12. This. Whithout enough speed, and also crucial - a steep enough descending angle, your bombs will not get far. (Don't try to drop them on level flight, try a 20 degree or more dive, also.) So their Continuously Computed Impact Point will be very close, and therefore outside (below) your Head-Up Display.
  13. Thank you Youda for the clarifying. Well, on that case it seems it might not be so easy to fix stuf, as being several aircraft it's less probable to get them all changed to 'correct' specs.
  14. One question: Is the current F-16 module's sustained turn rate still below every other fighter, or was it corrected already ?
  15. I agree. It would be the classic, 'old-school' F-14A for me. "AB" as in Air Base ? Air Base is an Air Force installation. Tipicaly it was denominated only as: Naval Air Station Miramar. (Or, like in present days: Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.)
  16. I'm not yet much versed in all of the Magic modes of employment, although I've read the manual, the Chuck's manual also, and this topic. I just have to play it some more hours. The 'perception' I've had so far, regarding the several modes of employment: Seekerhead modes ; toggle with "Magic unlock": - caged seeker (ADL cross only) - narrow search (square corners in the HUD) Radar modes ; toogle with some throttle grip switch: - vertical search - boresight search (circle around ADL cross) - horizontal search MAV modes ; select MAV on PCA: - (several search patern geometries I've not studied yet) - ... ... and I fully understand I might be mixing up several stuff here.
  17. Thank you jojo. I see, so it's the Allowable Steering Error circle... as it looks somewhat simpler than the ones in the F-16, F/A-18, etc, I was in doubt. Eitherway, the Mirage 2000C's HUD symbology does feel like a fresh air breeze from US fighters symmbols. (The symbology logic is roughly the same, but the depiction does have its particular characteristics; like the MAV modes square at the top of the HUD, or the triangle symbol for both Magic and Radar lock.) Only wasn't expecting the Magic seeker to automatically uncage, when in "boresight mode" (whitout Radar lock, and whitout MAV search pattern). I thought it would be like in the F/A-18 - the pilot must press uncage button to the seeker go after the target.
  18. By the way: What is the utility of the circle in the center of the HUD, when Magic or 530 missiles are selected, and known at the manual as "flight director circle" ? (It's the one which gets another smaller circle inside it when ideal firing parameters are met.) In the manual it only states something like: "contrary to other fighters, this symbol doesn't represent seeker field of view".
  19. Well... Bearing in mind the time gap the other modules took to get available, and the complexity of this one (flight model, avionics, sensors, systems, etc...), I'm not really expecting it to be available before some 18 to 24 months or so.
  20. Outstanding news indeed ! It recals me of " Super EF 2000 " from DID almost 2 decades ago. The first delta wing canard for DCS, an hi-tech 4th generation jet fighter and even more - European ! First day buy for me. All the best luck for the team.
  21. By far my most flown module, I've got more than 70 hours on it.
  22. I confirm, that bug still exists today.
  23. I would suspect on the Anti-Virus or Anti malware programs. Suggest you turn it off while playing DCS, otherwise you should at the least add the Eagle Dynamics folders to your Anti-Virus exclusion list.
  24. I'm being able to launch from the catapult (in single player), by : - do the salute ( Lshift + U ); - pressing twice or keep pressed the kneeling switch again.
